Special K 0 Report post Posted October 24, 2005 SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU GUYS I HAVE A MAJOR IN TECHNOLOGY. Fucking retard. That Japanese guy who eats the hot dogs really quickly? Would out-eat Lance Armstrong one thousand times in a row. Greatest athlete in the world. I am also discounting that civilized human beings have been on this planet for thousands of years. I just ate this really good sandwich. IT WAS THE GREATEST SANDWICH IN THE HISTORY OF THE EARTH. Also Lance Armstrong would never win a game of one-on-one against Jordan. What the fuck are you smoking? Besides cock, I mean.

He's that little kid in school that you see get picked on, but still tries to make nice with you, and you subtlely allow him to hang around, and make posts about shows like SNL that haven't been funny since the mid-90s...but deep down you know he's everything about every internet stereotype that is ridiculed. God, it was probably easier for his whore mother to be accidently impregnated with the semen of a rapist than to make a coherent post. Makes you think. And Barron, you weren't joking. TheBostonStrangler 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2005 I love message boards. And now, as amazing as this might seem, I have something to say about Saturday Night Live. I didn't see this episode, but I'm glad to have Tina back on Weekend Update. I hate the Poehler/Fey combo as Bob does. What shocked me, however, was that when I watched the Heder episode, I actually liked Sanz on WU more than Poehler. I have hated Sanz with all my heart for about four years at this point, and he did a better job than Amy did on Weekend Update. I like Amy as a cast member (except for that stupid Rick Rick Rick sketch), but she needs to get her ass off the WU desk. And I think Lance could be a solid host. His cameo in Dodgeball was one of the greatest cameos in movie history (and ironically, in light of this thread, showed that he had a sense of humor about his previous struggles with cancer), and he could be a damn good host if they play to his strengths. Jeter's episode hosting was really good, and athlete episodes generally go over better than random non-acting celebrities (like Sharpton, Trump, etc.). Guest Fishyswa Report post Posted October 25, 2005 It wasn't very funny. The whole "but he already had cancer so it's a joke!" doesn't really work. Do you joke about rape with rape victims? Do you joke about murder with someone who's family was hacked up? Ever consider maybe someone here has dealt with cancer and isn't too fond of people making light of it? And I really don't think "but I wasn't talking to lance" is gonna fit the justification bill here.
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2005 And now, as amazing as this might seem, I have something to say about Saturday Night Live. Hey now, this thread went off topic a long time ago. I'm glad to have Tina back on Weekend Update. The consensus with Amy is that she's really really good at sketch comedy and is a valueable assest to the show, she just sucks at Update. It's a shame b/c her terrible Updates always lower her rep in my eyes. Horatio was pretty bad, but I will freely admit I was never going to get into him no matter what. Tina is better then Amy and usually she has some good jokes, she's just so stale and boring. The only athlete episode I really liked was The Rock. I HATED the Jeter and Roddick episodes, I only tolerated the Gordon one b/c of Avril and the Tom Brady episode sucked too. If Lance is willing to make fun of himself and shows some range, maybe they can do something good for him. Too often the show is either a recurring character fest or the host just plays himself. It wasn't very funny. The whole "but he already had cancer so it's a joke!" doesn't really work. Do you joke about rape with rape victims? Do you joke about murder with someone who's family was hacked up? Ever consider maybe someone here has dealt with cancer and isn't too fond of people making light of it? By that logic, you should never really joke about anything remotely offensive since someone might get all offended.

Guest Fishyswa Report post Posted October 25, 2005 "By that logic, you should never really joke about anything remotely offensive since someone might get all offended." Or just think for a second and consider the likelyhood. Big difference between me joking about cancer with a friend of 15 years in my house and someone joking about cancer in a review for a TV show on a message board with thousands of members. I'm a cancer survivor (Missing a kideny due to it), and I hate when friends, knowing or not that I've had it, joke about cancer. However, I'm sure that there are people out there who have had cancer (Or other tragedies) and are comfortable with making light of that fact. The thing is, Bob probably should have known better than to make that joke (Which, as stated before, was awful, so I suppose I don't hate him that much for it. Were it a 'good' joke, I might have different views), although, the fact that there are a slew of racist jokes in the General folder might prove otherwise. So, basically, I don't know what the hell I'm talking about, as usual. Also, Bob, I doubt Lance will be any worse than Jon "These things....these CHAINS" Heder. Big difference between me joking about cancer with a friend of 15 years in my house and someone joking about cancer in a review for a TV show on a message board with thousands of members. I guess this makes me sound like a horrible person, but I really don't care if I offend anyone since I always believe "It's just a joke." People have made fun of me and poked fun at stuff about me for years and I always shrug it off since I know they don't mean it. The thing is, Bob probably should have known better than to make that joke (Which, as stated before, was awful, so I suppose I don't hate him that much for it. So, basically, I don't know what the hell I'm talking about, as usual. I'm glad you're not mad. I didn't really think anyone would be too up in arms over it, since it was just a thing tossed off at the end of my review. I've made tons of jokes some might consider offensive in my review before and no one seemed to mind. I even made a similiar joke about Lance when they announced he was hosting at another SNL MB and no one seemed to mind, so I didn't think it'd be a big deal. Also, Bob, I doubt Lance will be any worse than Jon "These things....these CHAINS" Heder. This might be the most intelligent thing said in this entire thread. Slayer 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2005 While I side with Barron in the battle against UTSU, I don't know if the label of "friend" should be thrown around. Boner Kawanger 0 Report post Posted October 25, 2005 Jordan had charisma, though. Armstrong might have been funny in Dodgeball, but that was with multiple takes and no pressure since it wasn't live. I would like to say this, though. Shocking as it may seem, this whole situation just boils down to people having different senses of humor. True story. A few years ago, we had this guy that sat at lunch with us that went missing one day. A friend of mine just said "Maybe his dad died." We laughed. Turns out his dad did die. We told him about it the next day. He laughed it off and said it was cool. Some people just react differently to tragedies. The type of guy I am, if I survived cancer, I'd joke about it and hope that my friends would kinda laugh at it. That's just how I would cope. Armstong seems to have a sense of humor about it. In fact, he'd probably be more offended if someone, you know, made a joke about infidelity or something.
