NFL Week 8

Recommended Posts

I like how people just can't admit the Patriots are good. Yeah, Buffalo was in control during the first 3 quarters, but good teams perservere and don't give up. The Pats played a full 60 minutes and made just enough plays to win, which is what they've been doing for the past 4 years.

People who say they're lucky are idiots. The fact is the Patriots know how to win close games.

I guess I'm an idiot, then. They won tonight because Kelly Holcomb is a sorry POS who would only be starting for a team like Buffalo.

What's so lucky about Rosey Colvin getting a sack, forced, and recovered fumble? Holcomb doesn't fumble if Colvin doesn't make the play.

And of course despite Holcomb leading the Bills offense that was dominating for 3 quarters, he's the one solely responsible for the loss. Uh huh. Has absolutely nothing with to do with the Patriots making a good plays, I'm sure. The Pats fumbled twice, yet that obviously didn't cost them the game.

Yes, I forgot that one play on 4th/7 was preceded by that absolute pussy offensive pass interference call. I take it back, it's not Holcomb's fault.

He shoved the guy back with his forearm. If a Patriot player does it, everyone loves the call and defends it like mad. It's nice for ONCE in the fucking NFL that the officials call some fouls on receivers who are only behind the quarterback as the most protected fuckers in football.

It's a pussy call no matter who does it. Don't give me that "if the Patriots did it" bullshit, I don't discriminate teams like that. That was the equivalent of some of the hand-checking fouls called in the NBA.

It was a fucking shove. And I never defend the Pats when they get a shit call but for ONCE it's nice that the officials called a offensive on the receiver. If a Pat player does it, call it. If a Colts player does it, call it. I don't care if it's the fucking Texans, you cannot have the defenders getting called for hand check bullshit in the fourth but allow the receivers free reign to do whatever they want.

I heard Tedy Bruschi recovered from a stroke. Is this true?

He's a moron as well. He should have retired, not try to come back and bail this team out. If Willie can't step up on his own and lead the defense, then it should fall apart. IT's stupid of him to return.

Why? If he was medically cleared and his family approved, why shouldn't he be allowed to continue his career?

Good to see the lone Colts fan here defend his guys.

I'm at least the second one. There's probably more. I hate the fuckin' Patriots, but their victory cemented my win in the NFL pool at work this week. $56. Fuckin' A.

The Packers lost to a damn good Bengals team by just 7 points, and aside from their opening week loss, 14-3 at Detroit, they have lost byno more than 3 points up until this week. They could easily be 5-2 or maybe 6-1 witha few breaks, and they're doing really well considering they're without their best receiver, Javon Walker, their best running back, Ahman Green, Najeh Davenport, and others.

With those guys, they'd have a much better record, but even without, they're barely losing. In the sorry NFC North, they could still win the division at 8-8.

Still, it hurts to see them lose so often...

going 7-2 for the rest of the season would be an incredible daunting task for the Packers (Pit, ATL, PHI, CHI, DET, BALT, CHI, SEA)...I can see maybe 4 wins out of that stretch. 7-9 could be enough to win out the NFC North.

I wouldn't put hopes on it.

Oh, I don't expect it to happen, but I can always hope. They came back from 1-4 last year and won it at 10-6, so coming back from 1-6 to win it at 8-8 or 7-9 is improbably but not impossible. Sure, the team is severely depleted, but they don't have much in the way of competition.

What are you talking about, Vitamin X.

I'd thought you quit reading the NFL threads some time ago because of all the Colt bashing or whatever the fuck.

In any case, I forgot that AoO and Czech are also part-time Colt fans in addition to Bear fans.

Are you fucking kidding me? Yes they went 10-6, but they were the Bengals of last year, in that they didn't beat a team that finished over .500. This year is quite the daunting task.

I just saw the image of Brett Favre on the ground, crawling from exhaustion and his subsequent cussing in a post-game interview (it wasn't a curse-laden tirade or anything, he said something like someone has to step the fuck up or whatever, and well.. I guess you can see the frustration, even though he's normally a pretty classy guy with media interviews). That really captured the way the Packers are playing this year in a single image. Favre, exhausted from trying to do too much, and just gassing out because he's the only one on the team who desperately wants to win as much as he does. That was admirable of both teams to come and help him up. Respect, yo.

FAVRE = MARTYR

HE DIED FOR YOUR SINS, SHERMAN, YOU FUCKER.

Hey, give me some credit...I went from the first week against the Pats until the playoffs last year without reading them. That's a lot longer than most people who say they're going to quit doing something here go.

Oh, and if Favre really wants another chance at a ring, he can always come to Indy next year and be Peyton's backup. :P

For those watching halftime of the Giants game...I wonder how many people who use that Green Day song in that context know it's subtitled "Good Riddance."

Oh tell me they didn't use Green Day for Wellington Mara

People seem to completely miss the message of the song.

Since Bush won reelection, Green Day is looking for any work they can get.

Yeah, but why waste a challenge? You only get two of those per game, or so I thought.

No. Per half.

Also, the play before that was quasi questionalbe if the RB had his arm in the endzone. So He was banking that he would lose the TO anyways but might as well see if he could get lucky and get the call.

No, you get 2 per game, and a third if you get the first two right.

Oh fuck this.  Everyone, and I mean everyone on this forum that is not from the northeast needs to beg the Colts to squash these fucks once and for all next week.  This garbage isn't even funny anymore.  I can't even begin to describe how important that game is.  Colts beat their asses....Pats are 4-4 and pretty much a non threat.  If the Pats win they go to 5-3 and look more and more dangerous for another unwanted playoff push.

Seeing as NE still has 5 games against the AFC East, I really don't think a loss to Indy would relegate them to "non threat" status. All they'd have to do is win most of their division games, and they'd pretty much be guaranteed a playoff spot. Yeah, it'd most likely be a home game on Wild Card weekend, compared to having the bye week and then a home game the week after ... but to say that they'd be out of the hunt isn't accurate.

I honestly think the Giants can take the NFC this year. Maybe I'm setting myself up to be let down - but I truly believe it.

I think you might be pretty spot on. They have enough defense and offense to do it. It's looking more and more likely that the entire NFC East should be in the playoffs. Course someone from the NFC North has to get in....why I'm not sure.

Remember, should is not will. There is no way the entire division can get in.

I will never count NE out of anything, regardless of injuries they are plagued with...not with THAT head coach, THAT quarterback and THAT core of key players still playing on defense...they could be this seasons "team you DON'T want to meet in the playoffs"
