cabbageboy Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 I remember this now. The USWA went under in 1997 due to it being sold to some assholes who proved to not be financially solvent or something. I didn't realize that this bunch also got control over the Memphis footage though, since that stuff was pre USWA Memphis (or at least a lot of the notable stuff was). So....who DOES own the Memphis footage? Is it kinda like ECW before Vince finally bought it?
ChrisMWaters Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 http://www.carrycompany.com/Oleg%20Aleksan...h%20Prudius.htm <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The guy kinda looks like a buffed up Lance Storm to me.
Enigma Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 Heh, memories. I remember reading in the Observer long ago that Jerry Jarrett was waiting in the wings to take over the WWF if Vince was convicted and had to go to jail in 1994.
Dangerous A Posted October 28, 2005 Report Posted October 28, 2005 One question: Hey Jerry, can you take Jeff with you?
Guest FromBeyondTheGrave Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 WWE.com fan poll: If you ran WWE, would you hire Oleg Prudius? Yes: 45.01% No: 54.98%
The Niggardly King Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 He should become the Ivan Drago of RAW.
Downhome Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Did any of you guys check out the resume?
Guest clockworkraven Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Did any of you guys check out the resume? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You talking about all the acting, or the fact that he knows sambo?
Downhome Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Oh I'm talking about it all. [Napoleon Dynamite]He has mean skills.[/Napoleon Dynamite]
Downhome Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 I'd just like to know how JJ discovered this guy.
Guest SavageRulz Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Well, this is a man who is a blackbelt in Sambo (Russian Shoot-fighting), and Judo. He has a very extensive background in amatuer wrestling. The man is an absolute consomate athlete, I just wonder if he can make the transition from mixed martial arts to pro-wrestling. He already has a history of pro wrestling but he is VERY green.
dubq Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Feh, just because he has a nice resume in other atheletics, doesn't mean he can transition well into pro wrestling. He's probably just going to be another inflexible blows-up-way-too-quickly hoss.
Guest SavageRulz Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 True, but we all know Vince still has a hard on for big men.

Even Combat Sambo which does include striking requires the fighters to wear safety gear (gumshields, headguards, shin guards, gloves) so it's not shoot-fighting/MMA by any means. I also can't see where it says in detail about how "extensive" his training is or anything mentioned about a black belt in either judo or sambo on his resume. Traditional sambo doesn't even have a belt system so it seems you are just making shit up. He looks like a European Lesnar. It'd be interesting if they tagged up Lashley with him and used the fact both guys apparently have legit grappling backgrounds to put them over as more than just big men.
DrVenkman PhD Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 So should I take credit for the false news reports of a tape collection being aquired? I think I will!
Guest nokia Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 If he's as GREEN in the wrestling ring as they say, then he'll show up on Raw within 2 weeks...
Si82 Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Reminds me of Brakus. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What ever happend to Brakus? I only remember seeing him "wrestle" once, and was live at Mayhem in Manchester in April '98.

He showed up in ECW a few of times. He's a bodybuilder these days.

As far as Sambo goes all i know is that I'm not an expert but my ex-girlfriends father claimed to be a Sambo black belt, and I had no reason to disbelieve him as we had a couple of good tumbles on the mat. And Sambo is actually the combined techniques of Judo, Aki-juijitsu, and greek Pankration. Thank you for pointing out the flaw in my post regarding the judo belts so I could correct them, however your attitude in your response about it sucks ass.

Bruce Blank Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 There are no belts in Judo and that was a typo on my partYep there is 5 grades before black - 5 grades of black that you can earn
Silence Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 I find it amusing that WWE decides to keep a wrestler who's EXPERIENCED and a former wrestling trainer like CM Punk down in OVW for a while to get re-tooled (as in forced to wrestle boring matches in WWE) while WWE continues to call up the green guys immediately.
Vampiro69 Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Well if they guy can wrestle, then that is great. It would be cool to have a man just be a killer in the same vein as Ivan Drago.

UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 I guess three years of giving tickets away free to fans counts as becoming a "national power", nowadays.
razazteca Posted October 29, 2005 Report Posted October 29, 2005 Is he as good of an actor as Oleg Taktarov was in 15 Minutes?
