Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2005 Oh, no doubt, Boon ... but the thing that sucks is that this WAS a hockey town. And a basketball town. The B's owned Boston in the 70s, and as well as the late 80s (and the early 90s) ... and the C's were the best of Boston in the early-to-late 80s. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jacobs and O'Connel have turned the city against the team with their actions. Its not difficult to see why people don't want to bother with the team.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2005 As a Boston hockey fan that's amazingly apathetic about the local circle jerk subject (aka the Red Sox saga) I find it very irritating that the jackasses on EEI (and their drooling minions) only talk about the B's when the team's not doing well. The team won their division the last season and were rarely, if ever mentioned. And then they went and got bounced in the first round, just like the year before....and the year before that. They've only made the coference semis ONCE in the last 10 years even though they had one of the best records in the league in '01-'02 and last season. On top of that, you have ownership saying "Oh yeah, with this new agreement we'll be in GREAT shape" and then when guys start signing, they say "Oh....I didn't think teams wouldn't be paying THIS much for players." nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2005 So, in your mind, the local sports 'personalities' should ignore them until they win a playoff series? Bullshit. Their job is to report the news (bad AND good) and cover all the local teams. Not just the Red Sox, and to lesser extent the Pats. And it's not just the B's. What's the excuse for them ignoring the Celtics? Or BC football or basketball or hockey? Or the Beanpot? Seriously, don't get me wrong, KingPK ... MOC has proven to be a GM so inept that I'm actually pining for the return of Sinden to the position. (and I feel dirty for even typing that). And I have no issue with people calling out the Bruins management & players for playing so poorly. My issue is with everyone, from Ordway & company down to most of the fans, completely ignoring the team when they're doing well and then tripping over their dicks to make comments when the team is doing well. Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2005 What's the excuse for them ignoring the Celtics? Or BC football or basketball Or the Beanpot? Everything pretty much gets covered (except for BC Hockey and that's because not many people care about it around here). Sure the Red Sox get alot more coverage, but its a baseball town and they're giving the majority of their fans what they want. if you want Bruins coverage then tune into the Dale and Holley show from 10am-2pm on WEEI. Dale will give you your fill and much much more.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 Ding dong, the Canes are dead. And it's about damn time. I'll be at the Bruins game on Saturday night. Looks like a pizza night to me (everyone in the building gets a free slice of pizza if the Sens score 6 goals and win).
Fartsauce 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 I've always hated that marketing strategy. It encourages people to root for the other team. That pizza only lasts until you shit it out.
Guest nWoCHRISnWo Report post Posted November 23, 2005 Pens vs Caps was a real fun game. Crosby split 2 Ds and scored on a beautiful deke, and added a great backhand tap in assist while down on one knee. Ovechkin was dangerous all second and third period and had a great assist. These guys get more impressive by the game, damn.

Red Baron 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 Anyone see Brad Richards goal against the Flyers last night. That my friends was a shot that no one was going to save. And thanks to Theodore bailing out for Montreal last night, we defeated Atlanta.
the max 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2005 That Richards goal was one of those goals that is the shooter's responsibility to not screw up. With his momentum bringing him that way, Richards probably hit the puck to 110mph. Esche had no shot, and after that, the game was essentially over. Bruins in Toronto tonight. Hopefully it's not the same "Be in it for two periods then watch it unravel in the third" crap that it's been recently.

And thanks to Theodore bailing out for Montreal last night, we defeated Atlanta. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Montreal's hardly taken advantage of what should have been an easier week than most: A less than stellar New Jersey squad, a routing by the Crapitals(tho the Habs didn't play awful), and a shootout win over the Thrashers? the max 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2005 A nice win for the B's tonight, of course not everything can go right, as Murray left in the second with what appeared to be a leg injury. Great. Just as he gets going he's hurt again. Razor looked sharp (no pun intended). I didn't see the goal, but he looked good on his saves. A lot of them were tough angle shots, but he still made good saves when he had to. Now, to paraphrase Major League 2: "We won today. If we win one tomorrow, that's called a winning streak. It has happened before."

Looks like a pizza night to me (everyone in the building gets a free slice of pizza if the Sens score 6 goals and win). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, that was a new experience for me. I was at the NYI game, and when they went up 5-0, the crowd started chanting "pizza." Needless to say, I was confused as hell. The Flames win another close one, 3-2 over the Sharks. It seemed to be a hard-hitting game, as the teams combined for 59 hits.
Fartsauce 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2005 On the other side of Alberta..Oilers win an important divisional matchup 4-3 against the Wild. Mike Morrison is 3-0 so far in goal.

Dogbert 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2005 Andrew Ference went to the Devils today. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jesus, I wish. Fantastic game in Calgary tonight, as the Oilers pull off a 2-1 shootout win. Edmonton dominated the first period, but Calgary came back strong in the second and third. Overtime was a heart attack waiting to happen, and the shootout was scoreless until Fernando Pisani won it in extra shooters. By the way, guess whose fault the Edmonton goal was?
