Did anyone see Hal Gill put it into his own net during the Bruins/Flyers game? I've never seen anything like it.

I was more surprised that it took Gill this long to score on his own net than anything else. Even the announcers have started calling him out on his never-ending series of fuck-ups.

Andrew Ference went to the Devils today.

Jesus, I wish.

Fantastic game in Calgary tonight, as the Oilers pull off a 2-1 shootout win. Edmonton dominated the first period, but Calgary came back strong in the second and third. Overtime was a heart attack waiting to happen, and the shootout was scoreless until Fernando Pisani won it in extra shooters.

By the way, guess whose fault the Edmonton goal was?

Whom?

I'm guessing Andrew Ference.

Bingo. Perfect tape-to-tape pass to Jarret Stoll in the Flames' zone.

Hal Gill putting the puck in his own net.....

An inability to win at home.....

Showing absolutely no fire night in and night out.....

.....it's called Bruins.

Rangers luck out as Weekes injury isn't serious, and hes just day to day. Ruckinsky's knee is almost healed, he might play thursday thankfully. The 2nd line has one nothing since hes gone. Most of the scoring is either from the 1st line, or some combination of the Ward/Betts/Prucha line.

As much as the Rangers are exciting this year, they are nowhere near a cup contender team. Sure they are first, but who's to kid, they don't really have clutch goaltending when needed. (I.E. Weeks)

Wow.

Can the Habs play any worse than this? I mean why don't they just play Koivu for the whole 60 minutes, because he's the only one on that team actually skating.

I have a question for long time hockey fans. I went to game 7, eastern conference finals Rangers vs Devils in 94, but I was five at the time, so I didn't really know anything. Anyway, they were just showing highlights of the 94 finals, and everything looked more wide open. Once sequence in a game had 5 straight point blank shots on Richter, lots of breakways and 2 on 1s and just a lot more crazyness. Was it two teams with explosive offences, or was hockey THAT different back then?

Defence is much better now; there are a lot less miscues, leading to a lot fewer odd-man rushes. This season's much more wide open than it's been in a long time, though.

Rangers was a real power house team that year, and with Richter in net, they seemed unstoppable. I think it was a surprised to see New Jersey going in seven games as they weren't that a big defencive team in 94.

So I have another question.

If I block a shot or go after the puck by sliding, and the player goes into me, I get called for tripping? I mean, there was no intent of tripping the player at all.

It was a LOT different back then. That was pretty much the last year of the offensive heyday of the 80s and early 90s. The Devils winning the Cup the next year changed hockey for the longest time.

Yes. You'll be judged to be out of control by the referee. You're expected to be in control of where you go at all times, unless you're pushed or otherwise interfered with by another player.

He knows...he was letting off steam...No offence, you'll do the same in April when the Leafs knock you out :P .

Kidding. No ones stopping the Sens.

Were in round TEN of shootouts in NY.

edit: Round 11.

edit: Round 12, wow.

edit: Round 14.

edit: ROUND 15!

And Marek Malik, without a goal this year, pulls off an incredible circus shot to win the game. His whole reaction was actually better than the shot. As soon as he scored, he got this smug look on his face like " Psh, I've done that a million times bitches"

That is easily one of the best goals this year so far. The only thing that compares is that awesome Spezza one.

Yes, you guys did.

Anyways I'm predicting a 5-1 pounding from Ottawa tonight against my helpess Habs.

Andrei Markov not playing in tonights game, after being automatically suspended three games for pushing a linesman on Saturday night against the Leafs.

Montreal lost defenceman Ron Hainsey to Columbus, after having to put him on re-entry waivers. Over a handful of players have been put on waivers today.

Hainsey among numerous NHL waiver moves

Bob McKenzie, TSN.ca Staff

It's a busy day on the NHL waiver wire.

The Columbus Blue Jackets claimed defenceman Ron Hainsey from the Montreal Canadiens on re-entry waivers.

The St. Louis Blues claimed forward Simon Gamache from the Nashville Predators.

And the New York Rangers claimed forward Colton Orr from the Boston Bruins.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have put netminder Jocelyn Thibault on waivers as have the Florida Panthers with Kristian Huselius and the Chicago Blackhawks with Mikhail Yakubov.

The Canadiens recalled Ron Hainsey from the minors, but had to clear re-entry waivers by noon et Tuesday today in order to play for Montreal.

Because he's on a contract that pays him $550,000, and he's a young player with some potential, it was very possible Hainsey could be picked up by another team. The Habs are on the hook for half of his salary and it will count against Montreal's cap.

More to follow.

It gets worse. Souray and Komisarek are both out as well.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Sens put up their second 10-spot of the season.

What happened in the Bruins game?

In other news, Ray Emery beat the Habs for the third time this season, and set the all-time record for consecutive wins to start a career with 9. The Sens are now 19-3.

I cannot understand why Hal Gill gets the type of minutes that he gets. The guy is a third pairing dman at best. His biggest strength is getting in shooting lanes and blocking shots (he blocked a few while shorthanded). But that's because he's essentially anchored in the zone and can't leave it. Once he's left to his own devices is when the trouble starts. He's stayed remarkably close to the +/-0 mark all season, but it's worse than it seems. Why he's up, logging 20 minutes a game while Jurcina gets the boot down to the AHL is beyond me. At least Jurcina can play his fucking position.

And a brilliant idea by MOC and company, waiving Colton Orr, who winds up where? With the Rangers! Yay! The only guy that plays with fucking heart night in and night out gets let go, but the rest of the tin-man team skates on without a purpose, blowing leads and playing with no passion whatsoever. But still, money is tied up in players that are either underacheiving (Zhamnov...although I'll give him the benefit of the doubt since he missed most of the season so far with a shoulder injury, Boynton) or won't be back next year (Samsonov) but there are no deals being made. No rumored trades to bring in help of any kind. MOC built the boat and now he's watching it sink...and doing nothing about it.
