Favourite Eddy Guerrero moments

Recommended Posts

There was a tag match a couple years ago, I think it was during the Los Guerreros run, and the whole "Cheat to win!" thing was at its absolute peak.

Face in peril Chavo (might have been someone else if it was a six-man) is getting his ass handed to him and can't get a tag to Eddie.

Finally, the crowd starts chanting "CHEAT! CHEAT! CHEAT! CHEAT!" And after it really builds, Eddie gives the crowd a look like "Well, shit, if you say so...", then he runs in and turns the tide of the match. Leading to a win.

Sorry the details are so hazy, but the facial expression he had after the totally spontaneous "CHEAT!" chant broke out was just awesome.

Eddie and Benoit celebrate together and hug each other at the closing moments of WMXX.

Eddie vs Rey Misterio jr. at Halloween Havoc. I was never a WCW fan until that point. This match still blows me away to this very day.

Eddie wins the WWE Title from Brock Lesnar. Absolutely terrific match and the post-match celebration was extremely emotional. Even Vince McMahon went backstage to hug Eddie.

Royal Rumble 2005. Eddie steals Ric Flair's number for the Rumble (Eddie had #2, Flair had #30). Sadly, he'd give it back to Flair before the match.

Anytime Eddy cheated to win a match.

The Beatdown of Tajiri after they lost the tag titles, because Tajiri messed up his lowrider, to start the heel turn that wasnt cuz the fans still cheered him (along with the el paso SD ovation)

I'll just add his match against Batista at No Mercy last month on his birthday because some of the crowd was fully supporting Eddie now that he was back in the spotlight. Great moment.

-The Beniot/Eddie post WM 20 celebration. The fact that they were on top of the wrestling buissness together made all that much more speical.

-Eddie winning the title at No Way out in Feb. 2004. I was there and trust me, the emotions of that night was overwhelming. I am very proud I got to be in that same building when he won that title. He deserved that title so much and his celebrating afterwards made it seem like a huge party. One of the best moments in wrestling in my view.

-Eddie cheating the night he turned on Tajiri with the world's greatest tag team won the titles of them. A lot of people didn't catch what was going on but if you get a chance to watch that match again, Eddie was doing some fun stuff while on the apron that no one pointed out. Like extending the tag rope so he could walk to the middle of the apron to make the tag, or running in and breaking up the pin then sprinting back to grab the tag rope and giving the ref this innocent look. A lot of people didn't catch what was going on but if you did, it was one of the funniest things in a long time

- Whenever he cheated, that smile he gave right before he did something or afterwards, had to put a smile on your face and make you laugh.

- The RVD ladder match on Raw. In my view one of the top ladder matche I have ever seen.

- Asking Rey if Rey liked his new shirt and saying "it says, I'M YOUR PAPI!" then smiling.

-The night after he won the title, walking through that crowd and getting that huge ovation.

-When he wrestled Super Crazy at ROH and for that purto rico title and handing it over to Super Crazy.

-When he created the LWO.

-the promo's he cut when he got he did the whole "i'm fed up with WCW and getting no respect" angle (through true) in WCW.

I'm going to miss Eddie, man.

His promo against the Rock where he talked about how he ripped the Rock's poster off the wall and burned it to teach their kids a lesson and he's got the people's mullet. Still makes me laugh my ass off.

"Orale, orale, La Roca. Ese, man, who do you think you are, holmes? You know, man, I gotta problem with you, ese. You see, hey, yeah, you I'm talkin' to you, Rock. You see, I got dos chavalitas at home - I got two little girls, ese, and they WORSHIP the ground that their father walks on, they idolise me, man. And you see, man, the other night when I walked in the room to say good night, for them to show their father the respect that he deserves, ese - I saw something very disturbing. See I looked at their wall and not only did that have a picture of me, but right next to that picture was a poster - of El Rey a la Scorpion, ese - The Rock. OOH, ese, ooh - Mr. Big Shot, ese - the movie star man. You know what, man? In my heart, I *knew* I had to teach my little chavalitas, my little girls a lesson - I had to show 'em discipline. So I got your poster, man, and I got it and I ripped it up and I burned it! And they ran after me going 'Daddy? Papa, papa, por queeee, por que, por que, whyyy, why did you rip that poster?' SHUT UUUUP! Don't disrespect me!"

"Ese ese, you know what man, that's exactly, that's exactly what I'm talkin' about, holmes. You don't respect NO ONE, ese. Huh. You know what, man... The reality, ese - man - you're jealous. You're jealous of me, man. You know what, man - see, you know and all these gavachos know that I'm the better wrestler, holmes. I'm more good looking. The People's Champion? Orale, ese, hey man - lemme tell you something. I got the hottest haircut goin' on in America today, man. NOBODY, ese, nobody can wear the mullet like I do. I mean, ese, come on, man, this should be called the People's Mullet."

I don't recall the specifics but on a 2002 episode of SmackDown, it was a 6 man tag where the heel team was Eddie, Benoit, and Angle. Angle and Benoit started brawling. The face team (I believe it was Edge, Rey, and Rikishi) just kinda looked out confused... then Eddie joins them, puts his arm on one of their shoulders and acts like he was their pal. Not the greatest moment ever mind you, but quite hilarious.

i was there live for that I want to say BikerTaker was on the face team, but I'm not thinking too clearly...

Eddie, shortly before forming the LWO, I believe, was fed up with WCW and sick of the luchadores inability to be united and combat Bischoff. So he sends out an alert...HIS WALLET HAS BEEN STOLEN!!!

He's sure it was a luchadore! But they're all masked, how can he tell who it is? Easily...they all were forced to unmask so he could "get a good look at them". Not only did he see their faces (insulting tradition), but he called them all ugly. Except Psychosis, I believe.

"OH MY GOD, ODELAY VATO!!!! PUT THE MASK BACK ON, HURRY!!!"

After Chyna and Eddie both won their Qualifying Round matches, they were matched up against each other on Raw in a First Round KOTR 2000 match.

Eddie's on his knees kissing Chyna's hand...pulls her forward into a small package. 1-2-3.

The look on Chyna's face was "I thought you had character. I'm really dissapointed in you."

________

Eddie coming back on the night of the first ever Raw Brand Split show and frog splashing RVD to hell. Then owning him via pinfall in 2 straight PPVs.

Wasn't that one of those holiday throw away Raws? I remember that being a pretty good match as well. They never jumped on that feud like they should have.

Didn't know where to post this, but figured this was as good a thread as any.

Cool piece of Eddie trivia: When he landed the frogsplash to beat Brock Lesnar and win the WWE title at NWO '04, Eddie became the first guy to win the WWE title with a top-rope move since Randy Savage beat Ted DiBiase back at Wrestlemania IV in 1988.

That's a lot of ground to cover and one hell of a streak to break.

Man, I love that match. The expression on Eddie's face when he realized he was left alone with all three faces in the ring was priceless. He puts his arm on Rikishi's shoulder and starts making funny talk with him. I lose it everytime I see that.

Him and the Austin feud in 02 before Austin walked out.

Eddie singing "Shameless" in karaoke was hilarious

Right up there with Austin ordering two Natural Lights at the bar. Seriously, who the hell goes into a bar and orders Natty?

All those skits at the bar with those two were pretty funny. Good times.

I loved when Eddy rammed Edge's head into an exposed turnbuckle, and then gave him a SICK powerbomb.

With all that, he still pulled the tights to win.

I think that was the unforgiven match I was at right? That was pretty cool. even better was the enitre staples center cheerign for the heel Eddie (and not just the latinos)

I must agree with his retun on the first post Brand split Raw as well

I wish RVD was back so he could have been on the tribute Raw tonight, or on the show Friday. That feud was instrumental in Eddie's career at getting him back on the map in 2002. Sadly my tape of Judgment Day 2002 was damaged by a leak in the basement or I would have watched that match. I don't have the ladder match on tape, but remember it vividly.

Around that time I went to a house show with an Eddie/RVD IC match, and of course Eddie cheated to win (put feet on the ropes). After the match RVD laid him out with a 5 Star but then Eddie got up and grabbed the IC title and hugged it like there was no tomorrow! Just a gold moment, I laughed my ass off.

I did watch KOTR 2002 earlier to see Eddie's hilarious interview where he reeled off the names of his whole family. Little Timmy!

Another great moment is the Eddie/Benoit interaction on Smackdown in late 2002, where Eddie goes through 50 emotions trying to convince Benoit he is loyal. "Hey man, you get in trouble with the principal?"

And of course, who would have thought an Eddie/Tajiri makeshift teaming would lead to Eddie getting massively over? That SD match with Team Angle where Eddie first did the "Toss the belt to the opponent and play dead" spot is probably one of the most significant matches of the 2000-2005 period.

Some stuff is obvious, like the Brock title win and WM XX. I think that time period was the last time I felt truly happy to be a wrestling fan.

I forget the show or who he was facing but there was a spot during the latino heat phase that but he was in a match and he got caught on the ropes and King screams "Latino Heat" in a high pitched voice. I wanna say Wrestlemania but i'm not sure. I cracked up hehe.

There was some match upon his return in 2002, I think against RVD where he had Van Dam in a typical headlock spot and then out of nowhere started ranting in Spanish. It caught me off guard and was funny as hell.

One of my favorite Eddie moments:

WWE No Mercy 2002: Chris Benoit tells Eddie that Kurt Angle is beating up Chavo Guerrero in a room. Eddie is about to open the door, but after he hears Chavo scream, he stops and yells at Benoit. "You think I'm stupid, ese?" Eddie starts ranting at Benoit while Chavo continues getting pummeled by Kurt while screaming, "Eddie! Help!" The best part is when Eddie saids "That's not Chavo in there. That's not Chavo's voice. That is a little girl's voice!" A few seconds later, Chavo is thrown out of the room by Kurt. Eddie is speechless. Kurt comes out and says "How you doing?" Eddie goes to attack Kurt, but security holds him back. Kurt and Benoit laugh at Eddie as he's taken away.

Hilarious moment.

I gotta go back and watch some of my tapes of 02-04 sd now. too bad i missed recording like a month of may-june 03

How about when Eddy and Tajiri came on pipers pit and Piper offered Eddy some Tequila. Tajiri takes a swig and mists Piper in the eyes with it.

seeing it on wwe.com, Eddy's attempt to stop Playboy from coming out with the Chyna issue (comeone shes going be out here like BAM and BAM (gestures breasts and BUTT/groin area)) then he tries to run in and they grab him.

Mine would be WMXX huggin in the ring and also his clever win over Angle earlier.

Also, his skit with Austin in the bar in 02 was great too. Complete with Eddie fucking Austin up.

This one is not meant to be disrespectful in any way, it is just a good lighthearted funny moment for me which makes me crack up when i see it.........Eddie vs. Test at WMX7. There's a spot Test has his leg tangled in theropes as he is dangling outside, and Eddie is going out of the ring and goest to grab the ropes as he exits the ring........the only problem is there are no ropes due to them being wrapped around Test's leg, so Eddie grabs air and does an assplant onto the arena floor. Hilarious unintentional stuff. It was editted off the WMX7 dvd though

(The Guerreros - WALKING! - are rather proud of themselves. They find the lights off in their dressing room...and when Eddie turns them on, they're met by Chris Benoit.)

Chavo: "Whoa, I thought it was Kurt Angle there for a second!"

Eddie: "What? What is it? What - what's the look for, holmes? Ese...why you looking at me like that, ese vato. Oh, oh OH OH I get it - oh I get it - yeah - you think I'm the one that jumped you? You think I did? I can't believe it! Ese - I can't believe you're THINKING that, holmes. I can't just believe that you think that you I mean - wow - wow, that is - wow."

Chavo: "You need to check yourself, bro."

Eddie: "I - I'm outta words. Ese - I mean, c'mon, Chris. Man, you ese, somes familia - we're family, man. Look, okay. Who jumped - who was with you when we came from WCW here to the WWE?"

Chavo: "He was!"

Eddie: "That's right, ese! Me Eddie Guerrero! Who was with you when we went from RAW to SmackDown!?"

Chavo: "He was!"

Eddie: "That's right, ese! Ese I'm on the road with you, I travel with you ese, we know each other's personal stuff, holmes! Ese - I mean, come on...when I was going through all my...my personal issues..." (Eddie "breaks down" at this point - Chavo tries to reassuringly stroke his mullet.) "You're the one who lent me your shoulder, ese, to cry on."

(Benoit pulls away when Guerrero tries it again )

Eddie: "Hey vato ...ese you're hurting my FEEEELINGS!"

Chavo: "Look at him, man! He's hurtin'!"

Eddie: "What's the matter with you, ese? Oh. OH! I - I know that look - don't look at me like that ese! Oh I know what you're trying to do - oh, what, what what - (Spanish) - you wanna hit me, ese? Well come on, man. Come on, come on, go ahead, come on, come on - COME ON! HIT ME! Go ahead, come on! Oh - oh - you know what, man? If you're gonna accuse me of doing the damage to you and beating you up, I might as well do it!"

(Now fully ranting and raving, Chavo holds him back.)

Chavo: "Come on, come on, come on. Don't bring yourself down to his level! Come on, let's go. SHAME on you, Chris Benoit! He's like a brother to you!"

Eddie:"Yeah!"

Chavo: "Come on..."

It should be noted that Benoit hasn't said a DAMN thing this whole bit. This was *unbelievably* great

Backlash 2003. Team Angle retain the Tag Titles against Los Guerreros, but after the match the Guerreros steal the titles. They then jump in Eddie lowrider and drive off...but not before sounding the La Cucaracha tune horn. Twice. The pause between them slowly driving off and the second horn slays me.

A fun Eddy moment was during a bit WCW did on the heritage of the masks in lucha libre wrestling promotions and somewhere Eddy had a Hair vs Mask match which he lost, and they showed a photo of Eddy sans the mullet

Well they had Eddy in an interview segment actually saying that the next time he would ever face this particular wrestler (I don't know off hand, I don't think it was anyone that has appeared in WCW/WWF/WWE especially during Eddy's time on the rosters) again that he would take the mask off!

I forget exactly when in the storyline the piece aired, a couple of times Bischoff was really gun ho about taking masks off, they had a Rey-Eddy feud over Rey's mask I believe around this particular time

I think Kaynon as Mortis was also supposed to be someone who would eventually do "Mask vs Mask" with some of the luchas, and of course theres Chris Jericho's run as well as a "mask remover"
