Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2007 I gave up on RPG's a long LONG time ago. The closest thing to RPG that I enjoy are those Xmen legends/Marvel Ultimate Alliance games. I don't really think they count. Also, fuck turn based combat too. Fuck it straight to hell. I will never ever enjoy it.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2007 Well, Oblivion is an RPG with a first-person view and real-time combat, but yeah--the ridiculous stats may be daunting for me to actually have fun with it. BTW, I had enough of the 360's sucky dpad and did this mod: http://www.ufighterx.com/guides/videogame/.../360dpadfix.htm I have 2 wireless controllers and did it on them (fortunately I had a torx screwdriver that fit already, but I didn't find the final screw under the bar code label in the battery bay at first). It works very well. Previously it was a hell of a struggle to consistenly do Alucard's spells in SotN or even simple tap motions in umk3--now I do both with ease. This mod was published well over a year ago, since I knew about it but forgot about it since I didn't have a 360. You'd *think* MS would fix it by now. With that done, the 360 pad is almost a perfect standard controller.

AlexPuma 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2007 Speechcraft was NOT useless. If you don't like talking to people, go play Diablo That's what made it worse. If I had a low speechcraft stat, I'm screwed. And to make things worse, there's virtually no way to level it up without having a whole entire town hating your guts (or abusing saves or hacking, but I try to play my games fair). It just shouldn't have been a stat, period. I can understand having it in Dungeons and Dragons, but not a video game.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2007 God, Panzer Dragoon Orta is overrated. It's good news. Don't be an immature jerk about it. I yanked it out of the cabinet and finally played it again, having not had a chance to since I got rid of the old xbox. Runs great, still tremendous fun, and the 360 controller feels so much better. There's still a few obscure games (that most pople won't care about) I'm hoping to see (Voodoo Vince, Spikeout, and perhaps Stranger's Wrath), but Orta, Jet Set, more good fighters (including SF 3rd Strike which is on Anniversary Collection) are great updates. EricMM 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2007 LOL that's true, in Morrowind it's hard to level your speechcraft skill, I kind of forgot about that. I guess you just need a LOT of money and a suitable trainer. Oblivion made speechcraft and lockpicking almost too easy with minigames instead of "rolls"
luke-o 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2007 or X-Men Legends. God, Panzer Dragoon Orta is overrated. I havent played Panzer Dragoon Orta on the Xbox, but if its as good as the first two on the Saturn then im all for it. While were on the subject of Panzer Dragoon, i just picked up Panzer Dragoon Saga for my Saturn. Cost me a freakin' fortune!
the max 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2007 Got the Ring of Death last night. Took my receipt and everything back the gamestop where I bought it with the PRP and had a new one (with a chrome disc door cover) within five minutes. Outside of them trying to keep my hard drive, it was my best gamestop experience ever.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2007 Does the elite bundle's HDMI upconvert DVD's, or is it just meant to replace the component cables?
MrRant 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2007 I believe it upconverts since the 360 does it with VGA cables now.
Banter 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2007 Is there a way for the 360 to wirelessly connect to the internet? I'm thinking of getting an elite, but I'm not sure what I would do with the 120 gigs. Can I transfer files (like movies) from my computer to the 360?

Can I transfer files (like movies) from my computer to the 360? Yeah, the Wireless Networking Adapter for 100 U.S. bucks. Can I transfer files (like movies) from my computer to the 360? Music, yes. You can rip CDs. You can also connect an iPod up with USB and play music from it. You can stream music and videos from a PC as well, but as far as storing it on there, I don't know of a way of doing it. Since you can obviously buy and download video through the Marketplace, there's probably a workaround for it to add your own video content. Paging Ripper... Ripper 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2007 I don't think there is a way to store it yet, because noone has come up with a way to add a new operating system like they did with the first Xbox and Linux. Someone really needs to get on their shit. I mean seriously. If they would spend less time making 360 laptops and dumbass firmware hacks to get free games and more time on homebrew I would be happy. Stupid people that are smarter than me.

El Psycho Diablo 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2007 At one point, I had a flawless "level up your sucky stats" trick for Morrowind. First off, grab one of the FAQs for the game that has a list of the secret trainers (that can train you all the way up to 100 for a fee), stat multipliers, and go. Snatch enough stuff from the Census & Excise Office before you leave to make a decent profit. All you have to do is grab it, then drop it on the floor before the guard gets to you..there's a platter worth 600 or so on a shelf. Pick the stuff up after you give that Guard your papers. Sell it wherever you like. Make your way to the Vivec Mages' Guild, and buy a couple of the high-powered Frost damage spells for fairly cheap. Go outside, get on one of the planter boxes and go behind that, then whack an Ordinator - he can't get to you. Sell his armor to the Creeper in Caldera, pay off your bounty for pennies with the Thieves' Guild, and repeat. It's somewhere around 6,000 profit per suit of Ordinator armor, which isn't bad for a little work.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 I believe it upconverts since the 360 does it with VGA cables now. I've seen you mention that a few times now...where's the VGA port on the 360? Is it a separate add-on accessory (a la HD DVD)? I've never actually used a VGA cable (though my laptop has the port for one, and the TV I'm purchasing in the fall does as well)...What does it do, other than connecting a PC to a TV? AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 There's an accessory cable for the 360 to connect it up to a VGA monitor.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Interesting article laying out what the Elite 360 does--and more importantly doesn't--offer over the current versions of the system: http://www.gamepro.com/microsoft/xbox360/g...T&ATTR=DIGG It's in need of editing big time (Gamepro's journalistic standards are damn low), but there's plenty of valid there. Ignore the stupid comments, though.
MrRant 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Andrew is correct. And it's about $30/40 I believe and I have it hooked up to my LCD HDTV.
MrRant 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 More on the upconverting - http://www.krunker.com/2006/11/12/xbox-360...-player-review/ You must use VGA to upconvert, but you can get 1080p (max resolution) via component as well on a native HD-DVD disk.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Rant: as far as I can tell the cable doesn't come with a converter if your VGA monitor has a "male" connector cable, right? It's just made to connect to a "female" VGA port?
MrRant 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Indeed. But you can pick up some gender changers at Monoprice.com.
