Idiot things heard on sports radio

Recommended Posts

I can't believe Arnie is still on the air! I haven't listened to him since 1997 when Sporting News Radio left my market. My brother and I used to listen to Bob Kemp on the overnights on SNR. I remember liking him.

I hate hearing Chris Russo (The "Mad Dog" of NY's Mike and the Mad dog) say "listen" every sentence. I am listening, you fuckin idiot, it's a radio show.

how about that obnoxious cackle he has for a laugh with that extremely deep breath at the end of it. With that being said, I dislike Mike Francessa even more. Those guys are assholes who cut everyone off.

The only guy I like on the fan is Joe Beningo and Sid Rosenburg until he got canned.

Beningo is fucking hysterical, especially when he starts interspersing the game clips, like he did with Ron Dayne against Dallas on Thanksgiving.

We used to have One on One Sports Network and they used to have a lot of good talent, but they changed over to Fox Sports Radio a few years ago, although I see with my XM that Sporting News Radio must have bought them cause they have the same jingles.

Anyway, my favorite 3 Sports Radio Hosts:

3 Tony Bruno..even though I hardly am ever able to catch his new show on SNR, I loved his show on FSR. Hearing him jabber on Madden 2005 is fun.

2 Scott Farrell..a long time ago it seems, he had a show (farrell on the bench) that I used to listen to every night while I was trying to go to bed for school in the morning. I thought he had totally disappeared then he popped up doing commentary on that stupid Battledome show, and when that went flop, it seemed like he disappeared again. But now I see that not only is he doing Fox Sports Radio occasionally. but hes also rumored to possibly have his own show On XM 202 High Voltage, although I doubt it.

1 Mark Patrick..I used to love getting up early enough to hear his show on Fox Sports Radio every Morning (5-8am). His voice impressions were top notch, probably my favorite thing of the whole show since he didn't get many callers and had to do funny skits like that to fill in most of the 3 hours. I loved his rule of no "we" from the callers. Hes now over on XM 175, XMs Baseball Talk Channel, but I hate that he's limited to Baseball only and I dont think hes used to his full potential..

I've been a Rome fan since 99. The callers and emailers all try to outdo each other one way or another and it gets so bad that its actually amusing now. While its pretty much down the middle, I don;t see how people can call his interview boring, when he can and usually does ask the tough questions.

Steve Sabin, who used to sub for Rome all the time was fantastic, though I haven;t heard him since driving up to Michigan from Florida back in '02.

JT the Brick is about annoying as annoying gets.

Locally, I run hot and cold with Stoney and Wojo, though I think that WDFN has a gem in Sean Baligian. The man makes me laugh every day.

Patrick's terrific to listen to along with Buck Martinez in the morning. They won't start blindly bashing players, and Martinez is quite knowledgeable. They seem to have real fun doing what they do.

I listen to the overnight shows on Sporting News Radio and while the shows are usually good(Kevin Wheeler's in particular), they have so many wackos/gimmick callers calling in all the time that it gets downright annoying after you're listened to their schtick long enough(Jason from Waco, Dave from Whateverthefuck, and the Irish Micky).

What's scary is that some of those guys aren't even the worst I've ever heard on the shows like this Blazerman fucktard who's gimmicks seems to be that he'll spout off any sort of conspiracy BS just to piss off Wheeler and doing the same annoying ass laugh after every damn call.

People who call during the overnights are one weird buncha assholes.

Also, Tim Brando's a complete and utter tool. Smarmy fuckwad, I hope he rots.

Right now, Warner Wolf has been really grating on me, Saturday mornings on WEPN 1050 ESPN Radio in New York

This guy was a legend doing CBS's local news TV sports, but seems to be clueless doing a sports radio show

Actually worse than Dan Patrick in terms of sounding like he is having a conversation with himself, and constantly screwing up facts, and over-use of tired "trueisms" that have proven to be untrue

Only reason ABC radio picked him up was because he was fired from CBS

I like Rome's show, but I don't listen to it all that often, and when there's an interview, I normally change the station.

I have Mark Madden's sports talk show on my dial every now and then in the afternoons, and I just listen for the callers because they're soooooo stupid, especially when they talk about the Stillers.

JT the Brick will always have a place in my heart because he used a couple sound bites from my one call in his top-of-the-hour introduction back when he was with the Sports Fan Radio Network.

Scott Farrell..a long time ago it seems, he had a show (farrell on the bench)

I remember that show, and I'd listen to it when I would come home from college/work. If memory serves, he went to do broadcasting for a hockey team down south (Atlanta?), which didn't work out.

One show I couldn't stand to listen to was the Sports Junkies...

Nothing can beat Peter Brown who does radio for 1250 Sportsradio. He says he gives a different view of radio, and pretty much just argrues with whoever calls in. He claims to be a Packer fan, but yet he bashes them. Even when they are winning games, and he is crappy at making jokes.

"I was leaving my house when I got intercepted."

"Brett Favre isn't wearing the right green. He isn't wearing Jet green."

The guy says he could play a game of NFL football, but he got injured when he wasn't even tackled full-force by Sean Jones. He's also the worse at doing the "Stone Cold Pipe Lock" picks, and his "fantasy" picks which blow up in his face. His idol is Steve Gutenberg, and is worse at college football. His Heisman Trophy pick was Chad Henne from Michigan. He also claimed that LSU's homefield advantage was dead after one game.

What a douche.

Is Peter Brown still syndicated? I remember when he was on this one network (the one Bruno's on now) and this other guy "Pappa Joe something-or-other" would always bitch about him...

Papa Joe Chevalier would bitch about anything and everything.

The Dan Patrick Show was great when he still had Dibble on. But in the few times I've listened to it in the last couple of years, it has been a little lame, although the Friday afternoon slot with Keith Olberman is amusing just because the guys get along so well.

Guest Duke_The_Dog

Jets Herm Edwards was just on Fox Sports Radio and he came across as a fool. He didn't know Saddam hussein was on trial, and didn't recognize Eminem.

kkk, what did you say in your soundbyte that Rome used?

I can't even listen to the local sports radio. Boston just recently picked up ESPN radio, so I can listen to that when it's the nat'l shows (Mike & Mike, Dan Patrick, etc are all listenable for the short periods of time that I listen to sports radio) ... but it's quickly devolved into being just another local station that's dominated by Sox-talk with some Patriots thrown in a few times a day.

It was J.T. the Brick. And honestly, I can't remember. Something about being a first-time caller. I know I made an O.J. joke though. I remember having his show on one night working on a paper or something then all of a sudden I hear my voice and thought "Christ, they thought that was worth repeating?".

Although JT did bitch me out when I said after a Steelers loss to Tenn., that the Titan O-line were making holes wider than my ex-girlfriend's. That one I remember. After he hung up on me and yelled for a few minutes, the other callers sounded terrified for the next 20 minutes or so because they were probably afraid he was going to yell at them, too.

Oh, yeah. I almost forgot. Fuck you.

Papa Joe Chevalier would bitch about anything and everything.

Whatever happened to him? I know he left TSN Radio, or whatever it's called...
