Best Tag Team: MNM, easiest choice in the bunch Most Underrated: Edge Most Overrated: HBK Best Promos: Eddie Guerrero Best PPV: Royal Rumble thanks to the Christian "Tomko gimme a beat!" promo, Orton and HBK both losing and Vinnie Mac blowing out both of his quads in the funniest serious moment ever. Worst PPV: Unforgiven, Show vs Snitsky, Benjamin vs K-White, a divas tag match, Michaels vs Masters and Angle beating Cena via DQ in a PPV Main Event guaranteed this got my vote. and stolen from the WON... Most disgusting promotional tactic: JR gets fired. The whole thing from Linda's shitty heel turn to Vinnie Mac digging in an ass just shouldn't have happened. Assuming you forgot MOTY, I'll go with the MITB match at WM XXI. Shelton's stairway to heaven spot was amongst the best things on WWE TV all year, and the match was about as exciting a spotfest as they are capable of producing now. Michaels/Angle was the one match that really stood out this year, and to be honest I really wasn't feeling it. Feud of the Year Batista Vs Triple H Almost by default because WWE doesn't believe in the concept anymore Match of the Year Shawn Michaels Vs Kurt Angle-WMXXI Best Brawler JBL Best High Flier Shelton Benjamin (Had more awe-inspiring moves then Mysterio) Best Tag Team MNM by default Most Underrated Edge Most Overrated Carlito Best Promos JBL Best PPV Mania Worst PPV All the other ones but GAB was the worst of the worst and stolen from the WON... Kahran Ramsus 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2005 Wrestler of the Year: Kurt Angle. Almost by default. He's had good, not great matches at almost every show he's been at all year. Shawn, Benoit, Rey & Eddy and Eddy all went long stretches this year without doing much good at all. The Kurt/Booker feud sucked, but the matches were pretty good and based on Booker's other work lately, it wasn't because of him. If Benjamin didn't get buried, he might have had a shot, but I really can't see it being anyone but Angle, unless you start counting other factors like character. Feud of the Year: Batista vs. HHH. It went on too long, but until Mania it was great and did a lot to get Batista over. Last January/February this feud was superhot. Match of the Year: Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels, Wrestlemania XXI. It has been a down year all around, but this one would have been rated fairly high in a good year for this company. Their rematches aren't even half as good. Best Brawler: JBL. If there is anything he can do well in the ring, it is brawl. He carried Cena to his best match ever at Judgment Day and the JBL/Angle series was good fun as well. Best High Flier: Paul London. I was really tempted to put in Shelton Benjamin as he is a great high-flyer as well, but I don't think anybody in the company can do what London does. Best Tag Team: MNM. There isn't really any other choice. Most Underrated: JBL. As established above, he might be the best brawler in the company right now and his matches are rarely horrible anymore. Yet, from all the hate he gets you would think that he was the worst wrestler on the roster. Most Overrated: Carlito. He has no real skills to speak of. Best Promos: JBL. For awhile on Smackdown JBL promos were the only thing worth watching on Smackdown. Cena really misses him to play off of. Best PPV: Judgment Day. No real amazing PPVs this year, but aside from the Carlito/Show & US Title matches, both of which were short, there was no real stinkers on this show. There were four good matches here as well, one of which was the best WWE PPV main event of the year. Worst PPV: One Night Stand. Aside from a fun Tanaka/Awesome brawl which was done better in the past, it was complete garbage. Great American Bash wasn't much better, nor was No Way Out. and stolen from the WON... Most disgusting promotional tactic: Angle lusts after other men's wives. There was other stupid stuff, but I thought it was terrible that you have you WOTY doing that bullshit. He wasn't having a string of blowaway matches or anything, but nothing he did really stunk or sucked and he was consistently good, so by default, he was WOTY. Every wrestler who had credibility was either put through a shitty angle (Eddie taking Rey's son, Angle losing his real wife and then stalking younger women, Austin being put through that JR crap and then almost jobbing to Coach, Foley wrestling Carlito in an attempt to give Carlito a push, Benoit going back to the lower midcard, HBK giving the Hart/HBK promo before fighting Hogan) or absolutely buried (Hardy, Edge eventually, Benjamin). And these weren't one week disasters like 2002. These were built (or buried) for MONTHS. I really think this year was worse than 2002. At least when Katie Vick was stinking up the place, I could watch the Smackkdown Six. From what I've seen here, the last time anyone cared about WWE giving up anything good was June. Has anything really good happened in the last five months? Could blame Triple H, since he could claim it wasn't his fault (he was gone), but him killing Flair wasn't exactly a highlight either, since he stays a heel, but constantly books himself as a super-over face. The only two guys that have won their feuds against him in the last THREE years are now on the B-Show, and one doesn't even matter anymore. BTW, Wrestlemania had 1,000,000 buys. ECW ONS had 320,000. He has been consistent, be it with JBL, Booker, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, Shelton Benjamin, etc. Shawn Michaels had some great matches, but he had a lot of crap too (The Hassan feud, the Edge feud, Hogan, Masters) and he missed awhile with an injury. Eddy/Rey was really disappointing, so count out both of them. Shelton Benjamin disappeared after he lost the IC Title. HHH & Orton have had some good matches, but they've both missed a lot of time with injuries. Chris Benoit has had good matches as always, but he was also stuck with Orlando for months. Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2005 It really looks like things went downhill after the draft wrapped up. Cena looks out of place on Raw and is more appealing on SD. Batista is the same thing, but even worse because he has had no one good to work with in the ring except Eddie and we all know the end of that story. Carlito has actually gotten worse since moving.
