Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 Nice execution. Umm, i'd like Bradley myself. He'd be the perfect fit. And LaTroy Hawkins had a good year the year he "imploded" with the Cubs. He won't be closing in Shea, so he should be fine.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 He wasn't the closer for the Cubs when he signed, and was still inconsistent as a setup man.
Guest Report post Posted December 6, 2005 I wouldn't have a problem with the Dodgers trading Milton to the Yanks, but what could they give? We don't need Cano or Wang. We need a 3B until 1 of our prospects is ready to take that position.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted December 6, 2005 How about Eric Duncan? He's been here in like forever, and we don't need him at 3rd with A-Rod.
Guest Report post Posted December 6, 2005 We've got LaRoche, but I don't know how far away he is from being a major league player.

UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 Damnit, I wanted Fregosi. Little is supposed to be one of the worst in-game managers in baseball. Nice job McCourt. He better hire some great bench coaches.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 Latroy's flight to Shea apparently has a detour: http://sportsline.com/mlb/story/9080714 Latroy in Camden Yards? Good luck Well, it's for Steve Kline so it's a great deal for Baltimore. It'll be hard to be worse than Kline and Hawkins was actually extremely good in the AL. Maybe he's just an American League pitcher.

Good luck Well, it's for Steve Kline so it's a great deal for Baltimore. It'll be hard to be worse than Kline and Hawkins was actually extremely good in the AL. Maybe he's just an American League pitcher. It's easy to be worse than Kline. Kline had a 4.28 ERA, and it was the first time he didn't beat the league average in ERA since his rookie season. devo 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/wire?section=mlb&id=2250316 I'm somewhat upset by this, since Olerud was my favorite ballplayer for quite a few years while he was active. He had a fine career, though, and now seems like an appropriate enough time to hang 'em up.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 I'm still mad at Cito Gaston for trying to turn him into a pull hitter. .363 wasn't good enough???

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 ESPN reports the Reds have traded Sean Casey to the Pirates for Dave Williams. I know the Reds are desperate for pitching, but is this really the best they can get for Casey? Williams gave up a lot of home runs in a park where it's difficult for right handed batters to hit home runs. Now he's moving to home run heaven. BAD trade for the Reds. devo 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 Oh my God. The Pirates must be pinching themselves. That's an amazing trade for them. Not that it's a big deal, but I wonder what they'll do with Eldred. By the same token, I can't imagine a single Reds fan who'll be happy with this deal.

The problem is, he struck out 159 times in 469 at bats last season, and hit .221 when he was in the majors. He may not be good enough to play regularly. MikeJordan23 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 Benson heading to K.C. Dec 6 - The Mets are about to trade right-handed starter Kris Benson to the Royals for left-hander Jeremy Affeldt and right-hander Mike MacDougal, reports ESPN's Peter Gammons, who says the deal could get done Tuesday night. Earlier, the Newark Star-Ledger reported that Mets GM Omar Minaya had spoken with several teams about Benson -- including Baltimore, San Francisco and Kansas City. The Mets like Benson but would move him in order to clear his salary ($15.5M over two years) so they could make a deal for a high-priced starter such as Arizona's Javier Vazquez or Oakland's Barry Zito. New York almost dealt Benson to Baltimore last week for Jorge Julio. But the Mets went back to the Orioles demanding a high-level prospect in addition to Julio, and the O's balked. devo 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 Yeesh. I guess Minaya really wanted to bolster the bullpen. MacDougal's pretty good and Affeldt's not that bad, so at the very least it ranks higher than most other deals executed by the Mets thus far. Barring any other changes, I guess next year's rotation is Martinez/Glavine/Trachsel/Seo/Heilman.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 (edited) The Os are supposedly going after Todd Jones to be their closer, which would be another loss for the Marlins, however I dont see them being so upset about losing a 38 year old closer who had one decent year as a closer in Florida, but will probably be a terrible option as a closer in Baltimore.. Yeah. Id rather have Julio as the closer again. Edited December 7, 2005 by MarvinisaLunatic

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2005 You are aware that Todd Jones was un-friggin-believable last year? Like I edited in my last post: - Hes 38..the Orioles need someone to build around, not a stop gap solution. - He'll be pitching in Camden Yards, not Pro Player Stadium - His best year prior was with Detroit in 2000
