Seriously, I have got to know

Recommended Posts

Why do I watch?

Because I see everything through videotape anymore and can fast forward through the bullshit.

I watch Raw and SD every week. I don't get why everyone is so uptight. It's not that serious. I brush off or laugh at the stupid stuff now.

If I hear someone one more time say "is (or was) there a PPV tonight (or last night)?" I am personally gonna come to their house, beat the daylights out of them and than force them to watch a million WWE skits one right after the other.

Why the bad vibes? Perhaps it's a commentary on how poorly promoted the PPV was.

No, it's just used all the time by various people and it's becoming very annoying to me. If you know enough to write the line on a wrestling message board every time a PPV comes than you know there was a PPV. Complain about your disinterest in the product some other way.

I still watch because in between all the stupid shit, I'm still entertained by many of the workers. It is just really frustrating that they shoot themselves in the foot every time they get some momentum going, by doing some stupid thing that has nothing to do with the product in the ring, and they do it all the time. But Smackdown is still enjoyable enough that I try to catch it at midnights on Thursday (I don't care enough to watch it in the 8:00 timeslot. RAW I've pretty much given up on, since the roster is so thin that they have to use trash like Carlito & Chris Masters just to have a 6-Man Elimination Chamber Match.

I only stick to watching the Big 4 (out of habit) and just read results. This was clearly a wise move. ;)

If I want to watch WRESTLING - I'll watch Benoit and Booker, thanks. And I'd rather expose my kids to Steph Mc Mahon's sense of humour, rather than a disgusting garbage match that doesn't belong on a North American PPV. I'd prefer to be able to explain the concept of suicide to someone, rather than explain why two idiots are fighting in barbd wirre

But you wouldn't be explaining the concept of suicide. You'd be explaining the concept of having someone (in the "character" of their real life, not a fabricated 3rd person character) kill themselves in an unadvertised, throw-away moment, over pro wrestling.

I'm not going to pretend that a barbed wire match is anything more than a garbage match but at least it was a) hyped, so parents and whatnot knew it was coming and could plan accordingly ... and b) built as part of a program.

EDIT: Never answered the original question ... I don't watch, haven't in a long ass time. I occasionally will watch a few minutes, but that's more because the shows I'm actually watching are all in a commercial break.

Teen Thrill Killers on A&E

^ what I'll be watching tonight

What's this W.W.E.?

Seriously though, I don't even watch Raw anymore, because after I watch How I Met Your Mother, I usually just play video games or let the wife watch TV. I also oftentimes forget Smackdown is on Fridays, which is a good thing I guess.

The bad stuff is usually funny.

The good stuff is good.

And ROH>WWE easily

No and that's saying something considering how bad WWE sucks.

Each to his own, but I can't see how anyone who enjoys wrestling for the matches can prefer WWE to ROH, or even TNA. Aside from Benoit there's not anyone in WWE even trying (or being allowed) to put on intelligent matches.

I watched HHH vs Flair's last match. It was more real, exciting, emotional and enthralling than any ROH match I've ever seen. That's just one example.

Did you see Kenta Kobashi Vs. Samoa Joe from 10/01/05? It's a lot of people's Match of the Year and for good reason.

I have been a huge wrestling fan every since 1982 when I was 5 years old . I remember watching Paul Boesch Wrestling on local Houston television . With Hacksaw , One Man Gang , Brickhouse Brown , Jose Lathario , all of these really great wrestlers . I have since then been watching wrestling no matter if it was WCW , WWE , WWF , NWA , ECW, whatever I watched it . Over the past six months though , I have not been able to get into this WWE product that is on my TV screen . I have not been able to get into the direction that they are going with . John Cena as champ is about as exciting as watching Mae Young give birth to a hand . The guy was great as a heel , but now they have turned him into a complete weinee . He sounds so much like The Rock when he cuts his promos its sad . Batista is doing an OK job as Champ , he just lacks the mic skills to make himself a full blown star IMO . Tonight I put it on Smackdown and was completely lost on what was going on . From what I saw , I didnt miss much .

I have been checking out TNA on Saturday nights and I can get into it a whole hell of a lot more than the WWE . The six-sided ring is a bit strange , but the action and moves are pretty damn sweet . I know they are a bunch of WWE rejects on there but I like wrestling for the actual wrestling more than I do the acting dramatic BS . Thats just my opinion on the wresling scene as of now .

Sadly, I watch out of routine. Then I kick myself after I yell at my TV for some stupid segment or transparent booking. Vince is destroying his company. I know it, you know it, every other smark knows it, and yet I still watch.

Well then let me help you break that cycle. I don't know what Time Zone you live in but this is what else is on during Raw in EST

9pm -

Packers vs Ravens on ABC

Radio Music Awards on NBC

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York on ABC Family (starting time is 8pm and runs right through Raw)

American Chopper on The Discovery Channel

Teen Thrill Killers on A&E

Then at 10pm you can switch over to Spike and watch UFC.

there are plenty of other better options if you're going to sit back infront of the boob-tube. Personally I'll probably check out the Teen Thrill Killers program and during commercials I'll flip it over to Monday Night Football.

Lets see, crap crap, and more crap. I might as well stick with RAW :D

Smackdown! and RAW have been decent the last two weeks. I have nothing to complain. Don't expect them to put on huge high profile matches on free TV and every wrestler to put on **** matches. TNA isn't better then the WWE except for the X-Division. Hell, I enjoy WWE more then TNA

I don't anymore really. I mean, I'll probably watch Velocity if it's on for London and Kendrick but I don't go out of my way to see it. I would much rather watch TNA and ROH and I just tend to watch them. That way I get entertainment and good, quality wrestling instead of a bunch of shitty angles that simply aren't entertaining.

I've been watching WWE for 15 years now and I've had enough of the shit the McMahon's force down people's throats under the guise of "sports entertainment".

People who think that WWE offer a better in-ring product than TNA or ROH have been brainwashed by WWE into thinking that the "punck-kick" style they offer is proper wrestling.

The same kind of thing goes for those who watch it out of "habit". That's just a fucking cop-out excuse. You still watch it because you enjoy. I watched it for 15 years but when I'd had enough I found it quite easy to break the habit.

Adam, thanks for reminding me why I never watch TV anymore outside of sporting events.

As of now I only watch RAW and TNA, SD is just too painful to watch and it has gotten worse w/o Eddie. I used to watch the ppvs for free but since my cable box is not working anymore then I'm going to have to rent the dvds or download them from the net.

Yes, it was pretty good.

two main reasons come to mind for myself.

1. Plenty of us have a known history of watching crap and deriving perverse entertainment from it.

See: Amazing Rando, a fellow MST3K fan. Likewise, I like my b-movies and MST3K as well.

The Raw thread is rarely constructive discussion. It's mostly us ripping apart the show and how crappy it is.

2. However, there's also the lingering hope that it gets better because most of us want good wrestling and like good wrestling. Raw's live, so there's the slim hope there will be something good. Smackdown we know the gist of days ahead of time, so it's lucky to even get a thread.

EDIT: and LaParkaYourCar gives a quick-and-dirty summation of point #1.

Damn, I didn't even know there was a ppv last night.

I watch primarily out of habit. I only watch RAW. I usually forget SD! is on Friidays and when I remember I don't care. The overall product has sucked for quite a while now but it is really bad now. Sometimes I laught at the shear stupidity of what they put out now.

I agree, but I avoid SD spoilers at all costs s oI can enjoy the show more maybe

I know I said its a habit, but its more, cuz I never forget when a show is on and never have. Hell I used to go out of the way to watch every crappy show wwf/e or wcw had on.

To me, WWE is like one huge mix bag of all different types of stuff. That's not really a good thing to me, I'm just saying. Every now and then we have an entertaining match, if not also great in terms of work. Then a lot of the stuff is just ripe for mocking. You have the stuff that offends or is just tasteless, which is either good or bad depending on who you are. Every now and then (well, almost weekly here lately) we see something that's just so totally out there, that you can't believe you are actually seeing it. Seeing Vader/Goldust team up out of nowhere was retarded, but I'm glad I am still watching WWE because I would not have wanted to have missed that segment.

I've been watching wrestling since the 80's, pretty much all my life. As long as I can remember they've produced trash in one form or another, at times more extreme than others, but it's just something that comes with watching WWE, since Vince Jr. at least it's always been that way, and it always will be. It's not like some of this shit is new or anything. Besides, if I made it through Bastion Booger and that era of really shitty gimmicks and workers, then I think I can make it through anything just so I can see the entertaining moments, and great matches along the way.

I've been watching Raw for so long now, I really have no idea what I'd do on Monday nights when it isn't football season.

It still excites me sometimes, especially when I consider not watching something. I might not watch Smackdown regularly, but I decided at 8:30 last night to head to the sports bar so I could see the HIAC match after almost completely making up my mind to just stay home, save the seven bucks, and watch what I thought (before kickoff) would be a good Falcons/Bears game. Yeah, the match failed to deliver. Yeah, the show blew.

I'm simply too much of an optimist to completely stop watching wrestling. And it's still pretty fucking cool when they do that thing once or twice a year that really blows you away, to be honest. When it stops giving me that neat feeling to watch those moments of greatness, I'll stop. For now though, I'm still a dumb little mark for Cena being the first Raw draft lottery pick, Big Show getting in HHH's face and telling him to try and be a big man with the biggest athlete in the world standing before him, and even dumb shit like Undertaker emerging from the flaming casket at the end of Survivor Series this year, to list some examples from the last six months.

1. WWE programming is usually pretty good fo the first three months of any given year.

2. I also enjoy mocking Raw on this board.

3. I still like a couple of the workers.
