Tony Dungy's Son Found Dead

Last month pro wrestler Eddie Guererro was found dead in a hotel room.

 

Mainstream media talk show hosts automatically drum up the "steroids, drugs, ect" rant even before a toxiologly report is out. Hell most of them spouted their speculations without even knowing that Guererro battled drug and alcohol addiction for years, and was even fired from the WWF for it (as well as getting in a drunk driving accident that nearly killed him) so while it probably was an accurate speculation, there was no good reason to go on the air and start putting two and two together

 

So a 18 year old black teen, living outside Tampa is found dead in his apartment. And just because he is Tony Dungy's son there is no speculation, there is no "come on, put two and two together" there is just simple condolences, the "well that puts things into perspective" speechs

 

Yes it would be highly irresponsible to do so, to make comments relative to the line of thinking about a kid who grows up without a father for the most part in his life (hell a father who works in another STATE) and speculation that drugs could be involved, but the fact is that the Guerrero story was met with all sorts of speculation without any sort of "Oh gotta feel bad for the Guerrero family, and he had young kids as well..." so there is a double standard when it comes to coverage of the sudden passing of people

 

I swear the media stinks so bad it makes me wonder why in the hell I ever wanted to become one of them

 

 

There isn't a huge influx of NFL football coaches sons dropping dead. There is for Pro Wrestlers. That's why the media came to the Guerrero conclusions and have backed off of Dungy's son conclusions.

This seems like the appropriate thread for this, with the death and all. So, does anyone else think Tony is an exceptionally ugly man. I mean seriously, I always get a bang out of how ugly he is. He really is quite the hideous beast.

 

Oh, and I feel bad about his boy and all, you know, the suicide.

I feel Cartman would've responded in a different manner if Dungy was on the Patriots staff, or even just not the Colts staff.

Let me first say that Cartman - who probably didn't mean to come across so callous & crass - does not speak for Pats fans everywhere.

 

As little as I like the Colts as a team, I have nothing but respect for Dungy as a person (I'm not enamored with him as a coach but that's another post for another thread). He's always said that his priorities are family first, God second, and football third. Even the idiots that called into sports radio today were respectful. Any ill-will towards the Colts ends on the field.

 

And, re: Belichick's father's passing ... yeah, that got a lot of coverage on shows like NFL Prime Time and the Sunday shows that proceed and follow the NFL games. They had an interview in the can that was going to run a few weeks after he died, so they had mad footage to show. I don't think it got the PTI or Around the Horn moments that Dungy's kid got, though.

 

Lastly, even on a wrestling message board, to compare the way the media treated Eddy's death to the way that they're treating Dungy's is a farce. When coach's sons dying (whether by accident, murder, suicide, WHATEVER) becomes a relatively common occurrence, the two will be comparable. For the time being, they're not.

Cartman looks worse on here than Dungy's son does on myspace. I guess we should all be rooting for his death too since an internet persona is more than enough info to judge someone with. He probably did mean to come across that callous Niskie, which makes him even more pathetic. TCR was spot-on with what he said.

 

I feel really bad for the family, everytime ESPN or whomever has done any stories on him they always go on about his family and they always appeared to be tight knit. It's shocking to hear something like this happen out of the blue. I can't imagine what Tony Dungy is going through right now.

I agree that Dungy is exceptionally ugly. He also is as charismatic as a dead bird. Still, too bad about his son. It's wierd because Dungy seems like a classy guy, and then his son's myspace has his heroes include the ohio snipers.

I wouldn't be shocked to see the Colts O-cooridinator do the Head Coaching gig this week in Seattle. Tony should take the week off and spend it with his family. They have HFA through-out pretty much wrapped up so its not a real meaningful game.

Um, yes I dislike the Colts, mostly because I can't stand Peyton Manning, but that's got nothing to do with this kid. I think Dungy is a damn good coach and he;s proven that everywhere he's been. I feel bad for him and the rest of his family. If things come out that something happened to his kid that didnt involve drugs or killing himself than I apoligise. Just my opinion of people who are into any kind of drugs and shit is that they are expendable.

He's an outstanding kid who wanted to be like his father! And do well in school! I can't remember what else... I was too busy laughing.
