Guest Dam(o)nYankees Report post Posted January 17, 2006 Well they at least found a way to get people cheering Cena for once. Didn't hear a ton of men cheering tonight. But the woman were LOUD and the men weren't booing, thanks in large parts to the pleasedontboocenapleasedontboocenapleasedontboocenapleasedontboocena segments all night. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2006 Every ending on RAW is weak. Every match just has a constant weak finish. Angle vs HBK ends with a roll-up, which is weak when it's supposed to be the blow off match. Edge wins after Flair sells a LITA punch. I mean come the fuck on. I've actually started to care less about the belt with Edge constantly coming out every 10 minutes.
Guest Dam(o)nYankees Report post Posted January 17, 2006 How did it end? Flair did the slow climb bit, Edge showed up, did the slow climb punched him three times and Flair Weebled over. But did fall down. Awful finish.

Guest Dam(o)nYankees Report post Posted January 17, 2006 Terrible Raw Oh, come on. The first and last matches were, at the very least, fun, Shelton's Mama rocked, and Mickie/Trish is really gaining steam. The rest of the show, not so good, but that's still a fun little Raw. Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2006 Once again, not a horrible Raw, just an uneventful one. The Good Kurt vs. Shawn Edge vs. Flair Announcers were less annoying. The Bad The finishes to Angle vs. Shawn and Edge vs. Flair. Really weak stuff. Vince McMahon-Sex Machine. What is the point of this shit? Shelton's mama. This just gets worse each week. The writers really must hate Shelton. Edge and Lita pretending to getting ready to have sex. Enough of this. The Who Cares Just about everything else. One the biggest problems with the show lately, or at least IMO, is that there's little to no focus. They just randomly throw things in (i.e. Vince's sexual adventures) hoping that they'll stick, when they usually don't.

The finish to Kurt vs. Shawn was basically the best they could have done after they booked themselves into that corner. And Shelton's Mama is going to be the only reason to watch Raw when Angle leaves, Shawn feuds with Vince and Flair dies.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2006 I was terrified of Carlito's promo tonight...I thought they had forgotten that RVD feud. Here's hoping Rob comes back and squashes him in less than 5 mins. to blow that nonsense off. Cena got cheered a bit more tonight but it's still a fairly lukewarm reaction. Girls are cheering him, but I think a lot of guys have just said "Fuck it, I don't care anymore" and aren't even reacting at all. Hell, RVD got as big of a chant for him tonight and he wasn't even there. It's kinda wild that people here are simply assuming Cena is simply going to win the belt back at the Rumble, when nothing on the show would indicate that. Look, this is Edge's first run with the title. They can't just simply job him out 3 weeks after winning it. The PPV promo said something like "The Rated R Superstar's reign has begun! Edge vs. Cena at the Royal Rumble!" Cena also got no mic time tonight, in fact he honestly seemed like an afterthought. Frankly, I'm digging Edge as champ. If ratings hold well or even rise like last week, why take the title off of him? Anyone else notice that HHH wasn't really doing much tonight? He seems to still be dicking around with the Big Show, which frankly doesn't bode well for his chances at the Rumble (people with vendettas tend to not win, they eliminate each other). CBright7831 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2006 I'm just happy that a new heel is getting some shine and Hunter is taking a backseat. In my opinion, it's been long over due. Sadly, I doubt the ratings on RAW will be as strong this week with the season premiere of 24, not to mention the Golden Globes were also on tonight (and Brokeback Mountain dominated), but we'll see shortly. Guest noyes Report post Posted January 17, 2006 And Shelton's Mama is going to be the only reason to watch Raw when Angle leaves, Shawn feuds with Vince and Flair dies. Wow, the concept of the sassy black mamma is radically new to you huh? Just get all of the episode of Thea's sitcom on DVD or watch The Parkers on UPN, you'll be in ecstacy. Did anyone notice it's been a long time since Flair's done a promo? I mean, that's how matches of his get built up into great drama because he's like the best at that. But no, Flair had the sit there in silence while McMahon gave an ego trip speech. It should mean something that Flair is in this championship match and his daughter is there but why not let Flair speak? They're really screwed up Mickie and Trish, as it was the best angle they had going mainly because it was impossible to know who was going to turn; it could be Mickie or Trish. With Ashley's involvement and making Trish too sympathetic in the situation they've brought it to the level of the generic diva crap that no one with a brain can reasonably enjoy It's become clear again and again that if this company does something that works creatively, it's by accident. Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted January 17, 2006 The problem with Shelton's mama is that she's so noticeably a better actress than anyone in WWE. She's going to overshadow Shelton, if she hasn't already. She's going to make anyone else who "acts" with her, look like shit. This will be more apparent once the "new, cute" feel of the gimmick wears off.

Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted January 17, 2006 Of course, Vince was going to let Shelton win it is MLK day after all. He was dangerously close to being in his home-town though, that would have served to be a tough conflict for Vince but luckily Flair sacrificed himself for Benjamin and the legacy of MLK.
