Super Bowl XL

Im surprised by how many Steelers fans are on TSM these days...

I'm personally shocked by TSM's Seahawk Nation damning the refs every minute

It's like high school, people will find a clique to ride with, regardless of principle.

Damn, Bettis announces his retirement.

It was smart. He's got nothing left to do. He got a Super Bowl in his hometown, what better way to leave the game?

I totally agree.

At least I can take some comfort knowing that Ward got his props, Bettis retires and Roethlisberger is nowhere near that podium.

I'm damning the refs cause I was hoping to watch a good game tonight. Instead, I saw the refs give every call they could to the Steelers. Oh well, like I said earlier, I guess i'll just get used to the Steelers being the new Pats for the next few years.

The officiating was bogus against the Seahawks, they nailed them for anything they could here. Including getting Matt Hasselbeck for fucking tackling the guy who just took his ball. Last time I heard of that, was when Big Ben did that against the Colts...and that was an awesome play! Matt...He gets a flag and they take fifteen fucking yards. Not to mention holding calls that weren't there, Ben's touchdown dive when he was pretty clearly not in...so on and so forth.

That said...I thought the Steelers played well, and got progressively better as the Seahawks imploded. Between the referees, and the Seahawk's losing it, the Steelers held their line, and won. Congratulations to them, they won the game.

I love how there are a shitload of rich people in Pittsburg, who just so happened to buy Super Bowl tickets so they can cheer their team IF they won 3 straight road games to get there. Also, considering they sucked most of the middle of the season.

Well the Ravens did beat em (16-13) to start that 3 game losing streak, however even I understand that was because they had Charlie Batch and not Roethlisberger as QB.. They barely beat the Ravens the other time (20-19).

Who says they're the new Patriots? There's a handful of teams that could win the AFC next year. They're actually a step above the Patriots, because they aren't from Boston.

Didn't the middle of the season also coincide with Tommy Maddox and Charlie Batch starting at QB? Find another bullshit reason, and I hate the Steelers more than any other team in the world.

Patriots aren't from Boston either.

Seriously- you need to let it go man.

Next year's Super Bowl champion will be the Bengals if Carson Palmer comes back from injury. Book it.

I've always hated the Steelers, so I'm not shifting on anything.

Well, if you couldn't say anything else, the game sure lived up to the lack of hype it got. Seattle embarassed the NFC with their performance (Hasselbeck was TERRIBLE in the 4th), the refs embarassed the league with some of those calls and the commercials were decidedly mediocre.

Still, congrats to the Steelers. At least they kept the trophy in conference.

I don't hate Pittsburgh. Outside of Bill Cowher I like them. And the refs didn't lose the game, Seattle did. No question. However, the refs really did make it harder to enjoy the game.

On a side note I find it funny that the game is long over and my local ABC affiliate is still running an ad with some cheerleaders yelling LETS GO SEAHAWKS SUPERBOWL 40!

Looks like now the Steelers-Patriots rivalry will surpass the Colts-Patriots rivalry as the selling point of the NFL

Nope.

Then what?

They've still got to work out the defense AND if Palmer comes back at or near 100%

Steelers-Bengals. Both teams have young star QB's, great WR's and underrated RB's. The Bengals are going to be fucking determined next year, and at least these teams play twice a year, so it'll be easier to build the rivalry.

Nah, people like it much better watching Peyton Manning falling to pieces and then saying it was everyone but him that lost the game. I'm more interested in Colts-Steelers to be honest, that should be fun.

And where was the Pittsburgh Blitz? I'll be damned if they didn't start until the fourth quarter. Cowher called that game start to finish and Seattle didn't capitalize. Between Jackson being a moron (blame the refs, you stiff arm someone in front of an official to get open when you don't need to then you should BE FLAGGED), that miserable god damn fourth quarter clock management, and Stevens having trouble catching next to anything (nearly dropped the end zone ball) then you have more reasons why Seahwaks lost.

Whoever won I didn't give a shit. The call on the touchdown dive was horrible, no question as was the one on Hasselbeck. But the pass interference I still say was a good call, the holding wouldn't have been called if he kept the arm low, and no one forced Matt to just toss the ball up for grabs after the hold.

Seattle imploded and the Steelers didn't.

If the refs are soooooo biased, how did the Giants and Raiders lose to the Ravens and Bucs?

I really hope that's a rhetorical question. The Giants and Raiders were both assraped by a clearly superior team. In a game that has such a small point differential such as this, where one score or a costly turnover could swing momentum majorly towards one team's way or the other, the officiating becomes much more crucial to have come out correctly.

I'm happy to see Pittsburgh win, but not in the way they did. This game really felt tainted. And trust me, while I like the Steelers, the Seahawks gained an enormous amount of respect from me as well. Either team could have won and I would have been fine by the outcome.

Pittsburgh has the AFC North next year, Palmer will sit out next year to rehab his knee. Maybe Baltimore can challenge Pittsburgh next year, but I very much doubt that.

Now that I think about it, it's kind of funny... Indy is a stepping stone to winning the Super Bowl

They are an offense away from doing so.
