cabbageboy Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 I hadn't thought about Rey seriously winning the Rumble but it's a cool idea (though I think RVD makes more sense, Rey winning any kind of battle royal is silly at his size). Orton just isn't on the map right now, and the SD spoilers this week give zero implication that he is any sort of favorite (no more than Booker for instance).
Lord of The Curry Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Alright, let me be the first to spoil it for everybody saying "Rey winning doesn't make sense, he's small"........ THAT IS THE FUCKING STORY OF THE RUMBLE.
Black Lushus Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Rey's story writes itself, I don't know how many different ways I can type it out: his best friend died, his close friend went out with serious injuries, he's mad crazy over, he's the underdog...they've made hit movies based on similar situtations!
naiwf Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 I really just don't see why they go out of their way to encourage Eddie chants during Rey's "big moments". Winning a championship for a friend is noble and all, but not when it becomes the whole story. Seriously, if they put the belt on Rey the crowd will chant Eddie's name, and I just think that's a pretty fucked up way to begin your first and maybe only reign as champion. I don't want to see it, but the WWE rarely gives me what I want, so it doesn't really matter here.
Zack Malibu Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 If this is true, I'm going to hear Lushus marking out all the way from Nebraska Sunday night.
Guest Princess Leena Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Yes, but Lushus will be disappointed. Which I love seeing. I'm seriously thinking Cena wins. I'm not sure how, but the cynic in me really believes this.
Carnival Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 If this is true, I'm going to hear Lushus marking out all the way from Nebraska Sunday night. I bet Lushus is gonna empty a clip in the sky if Rey wins. Personally, I'll probably just create a mess in my pants.
Matt Young Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 If this is true, I'm going to hear Lushus marking out all the way from Nebraska Sunday night. I bet Lushus is gonna empty a clip in the sky if Rey wins. For some reason, that made me laugh hysterically. I'd like to see Mysterio win... although my top 2 choices would be Orton and Matt Hardy.
Carnival Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Matt Hardy has no f'n chance in hell.
billdynamite Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Matt Hardy has no f'n chance in hell. At least that's one thing we can all agree on.
Matt Young Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 I know that... But I'd still like to see it.
The Amazing Rando Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Rey's story writes itself, I don't know how many different ways I can type it out: his best friend died, his close friend went out with serious injuries, he's mad crazy over, he's the underdog...they've made hit movies based on similar situtations! Rey Mysterio Jr IN Walking Tall 2
The Buzz Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Not that it would ever happen, nor should it without buildup. But can anyone ever see the fans getting behind someone like Val Venis who was once decently over and an IC champ being a dark horse and making it to the final four, then...somehow winning the rumble. It'd just be like that freak occurence like when Lightning kid upset Razor Ramon to become the 1, 2, 3 Kid and when Shelton beat HHH twice a year or so ago.
Guest Dam(o)nYankees Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Not that it would ever happen, nor should it without buildup. But can anyone ever see the fans getting behind someone like Val Venis No.
The Amazing Rando Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Let's say it's Val Venis and they want to book him to win the Rumble. One, he would have to cut a promo. Two, he would have to come in at a decently early number, like 10-12 range. He would then have to play smart and also be a bit of an MVP and eliminate a good 5 or 6 guys before the 27-30 slots come in, including at least one or two big names (Orton, Carlito, Masters, Booker...some good choices there based on how they are percieved by management...he could also be one to eliminate HBK during Vincerference). So Val takes out some upper tier guys, including HBK, and is showing himself to be fairly strong. The announcers have to continuously put over the fact that "OMG! Val is still in there!" similiar to Goldust's run of a few years ago. Val could then disappear into the pack around the 30th entry and get a lucky elimination of one of the last guys, and make it to the final four. He would then have to play survival and almost get eliminated, getting lucky as others are taken out around him. He would THEN have to do the Flair 92 move of eliminating the last guy just as the second-to-last goes over. There you have it... Val Venis Goes To Wrestlemania EDIT: Val would then probably need to build a stable around himself in the coming weeks, even if it's like a repackaged Stevie Richards and Three Minute Warning all as faces. That gives the new star some needed backup, and helps elevate him that much more. And in storyline it could be enough to subdue any type of interference Lita might throw out during a title match.
Black Lushus Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Yes, but Lushus will be disappointed. Which I love seeing. I'm disappointed you haven't responded to my PM yet.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 I've always wanted something like Rando's scenario to happen, but unfortunately, I don't see them ever doing it. Unfortunately, I don't ever see there being a wild card winner.
Downhome Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 The only way you'll ever see something like that happen, is if they decide to not give the Rumble winner a Wrestlemania main event title match, and instead make it where they can get a shot at the title at maybe the following PPV, the next TV show, or something like the Money In the Bank thing.
The Amazing Rando Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 The Rumble doesn't have to crown a new champion, but it can create a new star. Since they don't have the KOTR anymore, a wild card winner should be possible --- too bad, like you said, it's gotten worse the last few years with the winner of the Rumble winning the title at WM. Steve Austin in 01 HHH in 02 Brock in 03 Benoit in 04 Batista in 05 The last five years, the Rumble winner went on to win the title. That severely lowers the chance for a wild card, even with all the recent injuries to top guys.
landy1987 Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 I seem to remember that a few weeks before WrestleMania 19, a WWE Magazine cover was leaked early online with Goldberg on the cover, which kind of spoiled that they had signed him to come in as they didn't announce it until Mania.
Lil' Bitch Posted January 25, 2006 Report Posted January 25, 2006 Rey Mysterio is NOT winning the Royal Rumble! But if he does, I'll be damned!

Rey Mysterio is wrestling Kurt Angle for the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania 22. Angle will likely turn on Rey Mysterio during their program leading up to the match.
MikeJordan23 Posted January 26, 2006 Report Posted January 26, 2006 I'm thinking they'll figure out a three way with Mysterio/Orton/Angle
Hunter's Torn Quad Posted January 26, 2006 Report Posted January 26, 2006 Has anyone posted, or found, any links to this magazine cover with Rey on it? And anyone who says this or that is happening is blowing smoke. WWE don't even know what's happening.

Guest tony manero Posted January 26, 2006 Report Posted January 26, 2006 Tell us now, or stop presenting wild speculation as if it was fact. You might be skeptical, and rightly so, but I have a relative who works for WWE's magazine sector, and the stuff that I mentioned, along with Mysterio winning the Rumble, is printed/being printed in the magazine. There.
