AMERICAN IDOl-SEASON 5: THE THREAD

Recommended Posts

Ryan probably said what the theme for next week was, but got cut off before he said it. But if history holds, everyone should get to sing twice next week. Thank god Kellie is gone....

Thank God. Kellie is gone. Thank God.

Although after she got voted off I realized that this was exactly the right time for her to go. She deserved to get further than Bucky and Ace, but shouldn't have gotten past any of the current top 5. Out of the field of contestants, she deserved 6th place. The animosity I had for her was the fact that she seemed untouchable and I was scared she'd make it past someone like Chris or Katherine, and I had this sinking feeling that she'd undeservedly win the thing. Like she could keep getting by on mediocre performances and it took a really bad one to finally off her. But nothing to worry about now.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Chris and Katherine as the top 2 this time. I thought that for sure Taylor was one of the top 2.

I think this top 5 is exactly the right 5 people this time around. No hangers on. I havn't really watched American Idol until this season, but this looks like the best group of top people they've ever had. There always seemed to be really annoying people in the top 5/4/3/2 before, but not this year.

To compenstate for the lack of annoying performers, Paula upped her annoying bitch dosage.

I thought Elliot and Taylor were the top 2 or did I hear that incorectly? I could live with that as the Final. As we get closer and closer to the end, more and more I want Elliot to win because I like seeing the underdogs come out on top.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH AMERICA??? The hot blonde gets booted off. All the other bitches are fucking ugly.

I wouldn't call her "hot". Monica from The Amazing Race is hot. Kat is hot. The Gherkin is... cute. Except when she uses pornstar amounts of makeup.

With that being said I did enjoy the clip of her and Kat hugging.

God I hope she does porn.

Matter of time. We'll have to wait for her fifteen minutes to expire though.

according to the VFTW board, it's 'songs from the year you were born' and current billboard hits

So that means (and I might be off by a year here):

Taylor (29) - 1977

Elliott (27) - 1979

Chris (26) - 1980

Katherine (21) - 1985

Paris (17) - 1989

And I wonder what "current Billboard hits" means, exactly. The Hot 100? Albums? Any Billboard chart?

Anyways, here's the top 50 of the Hot 100 (for 5/6/2006)...

01 - Daniel Powter - Bad Day

02 - Sean Paul - Temperature

03 - T.I. - What You Know

04 - Chamillionaire - Ridin'

05 - Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten

06 - LL Cool J - Control Myself

07 - Def Jam Franchize Boyz - Lean Wit It, Tock Wit It

08 - James Blunt - You're Beautiful

09 - Bubba Sparxxxxxxxxx - Ms. New Booty

10 - Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dani California

11 - Mary J. Blige - Be Without You

12 - Ashley Parker Angel - Let U Go

13 - Rascal Flatts - What Hurts The Most

14 - Kelly Clarkson - Walk Away

15 - The All-American Rejects - Move Along

16 - Cascada - Everytime We Touch

17 - Ne-Yo - So Sick

18 - The Fray - Over My Head (Cable Car)

19 - The Pussycat Dolls - Beep

20 - Nickelback - Savin' Me

21 - Fort Minor - Where'd You Go

22 - Busta Rhymes - Touch It

23 - Chris Brown - Yo

24 - Bon Jovi - Who Says You Can't Go Home

25 - Ne-Yo - When You're Mad

26 - Three 6 Mafia - Poppin' My Collar

27 - Shakira - Hips Don't Lie

28 - Dixie Chicks - Not Ready To Make Nice

29 - Daddy Yankee - Rompe

30 - Teddy Geiger - For You I Will (Confidence)

31 - T-Pain - I'm N Luv (Wit A Stripper)

32 - Pink - Stupid Girls

33 - Nick Lachey - What's Left Of Me

34 - Rhianna - SOS (Rescue Me)

35 - Beyonce - Check On It

36 - Nelly - Grillz

37 - Keyshia Cole - Love

38 - 50 Cent and Olivia - Best Friend

39 - Fall Out Boy - Dance, Dance

40 - Paul Wall - Girl

41 - Kelly Clarkson - Because Of You

42 - Chris Brown - Gimmie That

43 - Eminem - Shake That

44 - Chris Brown - Run It!

45 - The All-America Rejects - Dirty Little Secret

46 - Panic! At The Disco - I Write Sins Not Tragedies

47 - Saving Jane - Girl Next Door

48 - Bow Wow - Fresh Azimiz

49 - Tim McGraw - When The Stars Go Blue

50 - The Black Eyed Peas - Pump It

Not too much choice for AI-type songs. And I can't believe that Bubba Sparxxxxxxxxxxx is in the top ten.

No, Seacrest said that he had the "2 with the most votes and the 2 with the least votes" when he was standing with Kat/Chris and Kellie/Paris.

Oh, and it might not have anything to do with the American Idol producers, but what the hell was with that overblown production during the performance last night? It's fucking Andrea Bocelli, why are you throwing that much reverb and shit on top of his voice. It sounded terrible.

That song and video is hilariously bad. It's a train wreck. The Yin-Yang Twins are a joke at everything they do.

According to dialidol, Katherine really kicked the ass out of everyone. 70,000 more calls than Paris and Kellie. She had more calls than both of them combined. 30,000 more than anyone else. And people were worried about her going home?

Idol Busy Signals Votes Totals

Katharine McPhee 65166 54913 120079

Elliott Yamin 54897 34919 89816

Chris Daughtry 56904 28349 85253

Taylor Hicks 56395 28400 84795

Kellie Pickler 24547 25766 50313

Paris Bennett 21032 28395 49427

How accurate is this?

Hot chick with big boobs? On this board? Every week, man.

OK, I'm gonna try to eliminate rap songs (and I'm assuming some of these are rap) from the Billboard Hot-er, 50 (since I don't have a billboard account to see the other 50). I'm also thinking that noone will be singing Sean Paul or Fall Out Boy, and that Fox will veto songs about being in love with strippers and beeps. Here's what we end up with:

01 - Daniel Powter - Bad Day

05 - Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten

08 - James Blunt - You're Beautiful

10 - Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dani California

11 - Mary J. Blige - Be Without You

12 - Ashley Parker Angel - Let U Go

13 - Rascal Flatts - What Hurts The Most

14 - Kelly Clarkson - Walk Away

15 - The All-American Rejects - Move Along

16 - Cascada - Everytime We Touch

17 - Ne-Yo - So Sick

18 - The Fray - Over My Head (Cable Car)

20 - Nickelback - Savin' Me

23 - Chris Brown - Yo

24 - Bon Jovi - Who Says You Can't Go Home

25 - Ne-Yo - When You're Mad

27 - Shakira - Hips Don't Lie

28 - Dixie Chicks - Not Ready To Make Nice

30 - Teddy Geiger - For You I Will (Confidence)

32 - Pink - Stupid Girls

33 - Nick Lachey - What's Left Of Me

34 - Rhianna - SOS (Rescue Me)

35 - Beyonce - Check On It

37 - Keyshia Cole - Love

40 - Paul Wall - Girl

41 - Kelly Clarkson - Because Of You

42 - Chris Brown - Gimmie That

44 - Chris Brown - Run It!

45 - The All-American Rejects - Dirty Little Secret

46 - Panic! At The Disco - I Write Sins Not Tragedies

47 - Saving Jane - Girl Next Door

49 - Tim McGraw - When The Stars Go Blue

32 songs left. Not a bad number. If it were just these songs, I'd like to see Kat sing "Walk Away" or "Girl Next Door". Not that "Girl Next Door" is a good song for Idol, but it'd let her bounce around. There's also a "Candlelight mix" (i.e. suitable for lite rock stations) of "Everytime We Touch", so that would probably suit her too.

Paris is probably singing Mary J. Blige.

The guys will be interesting. Commercial Hoser Rock suits Chris, so he might go with Nickelback, but I could see him singing Rascal Flatts or Tim McGraw as well.

Elliott could probably do "Bad Day", "You're Beautiful" or "So Sick". Taylor could do James Blunt as well, but will probably choose something from the bottom 50.

You know, I don't think I've even heard the RHCP song on Sirius (since that's all I listen to now). Then again, I haven't heard the Bubba Sparxxxxxxxxxx song either, so thank heaven for small mercies.

It would also be a sin if we didn't get "Blame it on the Rain" from Paris.

Not if she sang "Girl You Know It's True". Complete with the movements. Although... Batdance. Or a Paula Abdul song. Yeah.

"Smoke on the Water" came out in 77? I would swear that it was earlier. Not that I was alive then.

Chris does "Ace of Spades" and then I worship him for all eternety.

Sadly, you need to get approval from the record company/band to use songs. I can't see Lemmy, unless totally smashed going "yeah, use my song on AI".
