Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted April 6, 2006 Barely surviving until this week, where he was lucky to get his best genre. I'd be very surprised if Bucky survives next week.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 It seems I was almost right with my prediction today. I don't have any problem with Mandisa going if I infact read you guys right. She hasn't been good the last couple of weeks and her look worked against her. Ace or Bucky MUST go next week though.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted April 6, 2006 Mandisa was quite good every week before though, and really dropped off this week. It's a shame. I mean, she had zero chance of winning it all... but, she deserved to be at least Top 6, probably Top 4. But, on the plus side, losing Mandisa probably helps Kathi most. Like Rudo said, Kathi is the only "big note" female now. Plus, the people who voted for Mandisa focus entirely on singing talent.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 Queen night can't be good for anyone. Queen songs on singing competitions peaked with Suzie McNeil singing "Bohemian Rhapsody" on Rock Star. On another note, my eviction theory obviously sucks, so back to the drawing board for that. Too bad Mandisa went - I'd have loved it if she sang "Fat Bottomed Girls"... starvenger 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 I don't even want to know what Kellie will do. "I chose We Will Rock You because when I little girl, my pappaw took me to the movies and we saw a movie about these ducks playing hockey and they played that song in the movie and that makes me happy because It makes me think...of my pappaw". "We Will Rock You" would probably get slammed for being a "safe" song. Someone will probably sing "We Are The Champions" and Ace is a likely suspect for that. Taylor or Bucky are well suited for "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". I don't think anyone should sing "Rhapsody" since they'll inevitably cut out the guitar solo which really makes the song. I also don't think anyone will sing "Flash" but who wouldn't enjoy that?
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 Didn't someone allready did Crazy Little Thing Called Love this year. Why just Queen songs, why not like 70's rock. I mean, I'd love to see someone try to sing The Who or Journey.
starvenger 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 Didn't someone allready did Crazy Little Thing Called Love this year. Yeah, the crooner guy did an Elvis take on it. Fantasia also sang it as a big band song. Why just Queen songs, why not like 70's rock. I mean, I'd love to see someone try to sing The Who or Journey. Good question. I suppose no The Who since CSI uses three of their songs, and Journey because Randy would have an orgasm.
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 Sorry but I wouldn't say a woman who is big, fat and ugly is an American Idol. Who the fuck idolizes this cow? That is so abhorrent of a comment. While I agree Mandesa probably did not have a chance of winning, it is still a shame. She has talent, and didn't seem egotistical (Chicken Little...fuck, can't even remember the brat's name), nor did she play a role (Kellie) or act cliche (Fantasia, anyone?) However, I have not viewed any of her interviews, so I do not know how she acted behind the scenes. I tend to like an artist for what they do, not really who they are. Watching her performance now (downloaded for my mom, who missed it last night - her faves tend to be Taylor and Kellie), I think her only faults were not being in sync with a few words towards the end, and that shirt -really- didn't do her any favors. Or maybe America only wanted her to sing churchy, safe songs and not anything sexual. Her strengths lie in powerful notes - she would be excellent for plays, if noone offers her a contract. Also, what's with her hair? Ew. I loathe AI's way of making over everybody. ><; Moving on... is it just me, or is AI a hypocrite? Last week - or... one of the weeks - Simon complained about... Ace, I believe, always choosing rock songs, 'this is American Idol', blah blah blah... and then they choose a Queen theme which is, last I read, rock. Right, then. Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted April 6, 2006 Mandisa wasn't egotistical, but she was as annoying of a religious freak as one could be. She just picked the absolute worst week to choose a bad song, and have a mediocre performance. I mentioned before that one of the talented singers would go home this week. Since Bucky was probably safe due to the genre, and there's still too many votes spread around to keep the pretty ones (Pickler, Ace) around.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 Mandisa was a religious nut. Like, really religious. Like, feeling the need to tell everyone how great Jesus is, religious.
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 Mandisa was a religious nut. Like, really religious. Like, feeling the need to tell everyone how great Jesus is, religious. And I'm as cynical-atheist as one can be; no doubt I would be wanting her gone if I heard/read any such interviews. In spite of that fault of hers, I hope she finds a good career. Though, really, once that horrid 'Man-Diva' moniker fades from America's collective memory, she'll fare better. Seriously, 'Man-Diva' sounds like some porno flick. Or horror. Or both. ...Ick. She just picked the absolute worst week to choose a bad song, and have a mediocre performance. True. She tried to put some dance into the song, but her shakin' the bodonkadonk ain't want her fans really watch for (well, least I don't -think- they do...) Her strength was vocals, not sex appeal. Sad to say, really, but that's the truth of it. The song had a good beat, and lyrics suited for her powerful way of singing, but the content of it... bleh. She would've been better off going with something more emotional.

Country has plenty of those kinds of songs..

naiwf 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 Simon hasn't decided to put his muscle behind anyone yet. I think by now he's usually picked the person he's going to back. I think that's the issue he's having. It's like he wants to pick Chris or Katharine, but is afraid to do it.

Simon was the only one who said anything and basically said that noone is ever safe from elimination. in other words "This season isn't turning out as good as I thought it would!" Don't think he really cares, actually. He's signed up for another five seasons, according to Giant magazine. I think he's a billionare, or something -- the interview with him was a fun read. He's got quite the ego, only caring for what sells.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2006 Ace Young - We Will Rock You Bucky Covington - Fat Bottom Girls Kellie Pickler - Bohemian Rhapsody Chris Daughtry - Innuendo Elliott Yamin - Somebody to Love Katharine McPhee - Who Wants to Live Forever Paris Bennett - The Show Must Go On Taylor Hicks - Crazy Little Thing Called Love

ZGangsta 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2006 Ace Young - We Will Rock You Bucky Covington - Fat Bottom Girls Kellie Pickler - Bohemian Rhapsody Chris Daughtry - Innuendo Elliott Yamin - Somebody to Love Katharine McPhee - Who Wants to Live Forever Paris Bennett - The Show Must Go On Taylor Hicks - Crazy Little Thing Called Love Great song choices for Bucky and Taylor, those songs will fit them really well. Paris and Kellie, I just can't see doing those 2 songs at all. I mean, Bohemian Rhapsody? Ace is such a dumbass for thinking he won't looks stupid trying to do We Will Rock You. He should have done Best Friend. And no Princes of the Universe? Denied!
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2006 maybe Ace'll do the fast version of We Will Rock You
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted April 11, 2006 I pegged Ace to do Bohemian Rhapsody. Pickler doing it? At best, that's going to be terrible in a comedic fashion. I didn't know Queen did Fat Bottom Girls (I know zero about music ). Bucky got lucky.
ZGangsta 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2006 I don't know why you would even bother trying Bohemian Rhapsody, the song is composed of so many different movements it's pointless to try and condense it. I mean, obviously SOMEONE's has to go and try it because it's one of the most famous songs ever, but I just don't get it. Pickler singing it will be hillarious though. Innuendo's another wierd song that has different movements. Don't know why Chris picked it, but I can envision him doing some parts of it. He really should have picked Tie Your Mother Down. Or Princes of the Universe damnit! And yeah, Bucky got really lucky this time (again). I'm listening to Fat Bottomed Girls right now and I can see him fitting in perfectly. The song's got this great kick drum back beat in the verse that sounds almost like a hoedown. It's definately a song that could get a bit "country'd up" and still work. And listening to all this Queen makes me remember that, damn! Freddie Mercury was really one of the very best.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2006 Bucky is getting very lucky - the dude is one of the worst singers there, but he knows how to pick songs that he won't make suck. Katharine is, like, the opposite of Bucky. It seems the girl is picking songs just to see if she can make it good, despite them being totally not-for-her, and not for the competition. Ace picking We Will Rock You is a lauf. That song requires some balls to sing, and fairy boy can't pull that off in a million years. Both he and Pickler basically picked songs they knew so they wouldn't fuck them up too bad. And Elliot is gone. That song was used for an auto shop commercial up here and it is the most irritating song that makes me feel ill to my stomach. No one doing Under Pressure? Dumbasses.
ZGangsta 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2006 I actually can't see anyone pulling off Under Pressure. I think Elliot could handle the Bowie parts but not the Freddie parts. Plus the only 'big note' is that one that Freddie does right before it kicks up, and he just goes insanely high without going into falsetto, and I don't think anyone can do those.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2006 Oh shit, I think just about everyone could have done at least a good version of Under Pressure, and I think Katharine could have stole the show with it if she brought the right energy to it.
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2006 $5 says Paris picked the song because she loved Moulin Rouge!...
C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2006 I think that Ace should have tried Under Pressure. He could use the falsetto that he loves so much on some of the runs. Bucky always seems to find a song that's going to work for him and I think this week will be the same. Elliot is my pick to have the best performance this week. I think Crazy little thing called love fits Taylor, but didn't someone sing that like 3 weeks ago? Too soon for a repeat performance.
