Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2006 I hate Reshad. Put him against Arlovski. Now. I want his head knocked off. Boring lay and pray motherfucker. I doubt Rashad will go back to heavyweight, it looks like lightheavyweight will be his weight. Rashad isn't that bad, mind you it was hard to get past Hoger's guard. Hoger is a tough fighter, I hate the guy, but he is one tough son of a bitch. He would give alot of fighters problems.

Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2006 Are any of these fights worth watching? The fact that all of them went to decision makes me lean towards no.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2006 Stevenson/Neer was watchable, as was Jardine/Bonnar. On the undercard, Burkman/Fitch, Imes/Christison & our boy Koscheck all sounded watchable, as well.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2006 Reshad didn't even try to pass guard, he barely threw a single punch in Sams guard. That's not Sam having a good guard, that's Reshad being a fucking pussy. He was pancaking him the whole time not working towards anything. And it's not like Sam was having an active guard that would give Reshad concern, Reshad either didn't know what to do on the ground, or was too much of a pussy to do anything, or both. I didn't hate Reshad before this fight, I can't stand the fucker now.
Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2006 Hopefully now people will realize that Kocheck is far from the "blanket". He finished a really good welterweight, while Leben struggled with a mediocre guy who had a style catered to him. TUF 2 looks to be the worst season so far, in terms of quality fighters. Evans struggled with a TUF 1 castoff, while Stevenson lost to Josh Neer, who is decent but not that good. I also have a Imes losing to Christianson is kinda sad too, especially by armbar. Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2006 Christison was actually my pick to take TUF 2's HW division, so it doesn't suprise me too much. He had the most solid resume amongst the HW's, and a hint of well roundedness. As it was, he completely underperformed against Seth, whether due to his injuries or just plain choking. Yeah but most people thought Jardine(TUF 2 semi finalist) won againest Bonnar(TUF 1 runner up, and many people thought he was the winner).

Rashad is pretty much the LHW version of Koschek, except that Rashad won the whole damn thing. There's a lot of potential there, but it's up to Evans to get past the LnP like Koschek seemingly has. Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2006 Honestly, Koscheck has about 10 times the potential Rashad does. He's a far more accomplished wrestler, has already shown a natural ability to ease his way out of submissions, good striking power, some developing submission skills, and a shitload of mental toughness. Also, TUF 1 probably had the highest quality of fighters thus far. Forrest, Diego, Bonnar, Swick, Quarry, & Leben were all at or close to UFC level already, Koscheck was easily the biggest blue chipper to come from the show thus far, and Florain & Hoger are decent enough prospects. Your Paragon of Virtue 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2006 What's your reasoning for Rashad not having that toughness, I think he has some. Koscheck is proven by his winning the national championship with those injuries I suppose. But yeah, I would say that Koscheck is the much more accomplished wrestler, but from what I can tell through his fights, Rashad is still a really good wrestler. There are cases with guys who don't show much outside of MMA, for whatever reason, but still have a shitload of skills that transfer over well to MMA, when they do get the chance to show them off. AmericanDragon 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2006 Rashad is just plain stupid...ok, maybe not as stupid as Mike Stine pulling guard against Kalib Starnes but still pretty damn stupid. I'm completely amazed at the people who were impressed with Rashad. Yeah, good job on beating Hoger easily in the standup only to take him down and lay on him to help him recover. Hoger didn't even have to pull guard after being rocked, Rashad did it for him. What's next? He faces a superior striker and takes him down, mounts him, then gets off to continue a striking battle? At least Koscheck uses his wrestling to get people down to submit them.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2006 I was more impressed with Rashad's takedown defense throughout the second season than the rest of his wrestling game. He's a good wrestler, but simply not on Koscheck's level. I think I already mentioned to you the other day a couple of times Koscheck showed toughness in my eyes (the Sanchez match, the Fickett choke), which Rashad has yet to do (granted, the most peril he's been in thus far is getting his closed by Hoger & Jara, and surviving Hoger & Jardine's close submission attempts). Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2006 Rashad showed alot of toughness in the Jardine fight. Jardine hit him with some tough shots and he stayed on his feet, and finished off the fight.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2006 Not a good show, but not bad, and it'll be quickly forgotten. I like Stephan Bonnar and hoped he would win, but I really think Jardine got robbed. I can see Bonnar getting maybe one round, but no way he got two.
