Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2006 I want to hear to the popular opinion, which rapper from Houston is putting out the best music? I say Bun B or Chamillionaire. Bun B's guest apperence for the most part have been great, and Cha's CD Sound of Revenge was the great stuff, Void in my Life was an amazing song. Scarface is the GOAT from Houston. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2006 Probably Bun B. He's got a so-so flow, but his bass-heavy voice makes him distinct. His flow isn't anything special, but it's a style that does him well. I don't think Cha's anything special.

Go download Void In My Life and Think I'm Crazy. Amazing work.

Edwin MacPhisto 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2006 I'm always amused that Flip got so big despite that album cover. Bun B is the best. Chamillionaire is just there, but he seems to be a great interview. Every piece I've read involving him is pretty interesting.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2006 Bun B is a fucking legend. Chamillionaire isn't near his level. I personally was happy that Pimp C went to jail so I didn't have to hear all that pimp/crack rap that UGK had and could listen to Bun B rap about actual stuff. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2006 Paul Wall is...I don't know. He knows how to work around the beat, but most of the Houston topics don't appeal to me at all. I couldn't care less about cars or bling, so most of the southern artists instantly lose interest from me. Cha sounds like he's the benefit of some solid production. I've already stated my feelings on Bun, but I'll add that I'm impressed at his ability to break outside the realm of what most southern artists rap about. Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2006 Lil Flip is pretty good, though he fell off and is trying to hard to be commercial. But listen to his older raps, he was talented. Cham doesn't benefit from great production, the guy can just flat out flow. He outshined Krayzie Bone in the fast type flow on the song "Ridin" IMO, which is amazing and very hard to do. Not even Twista could do that(listen to Spit Your Game on Duet, Krayzie killed Twista on that track). He murdered the Victory beat, infact, every beat I hear him on, even if his verse is lackluster, he flows over the beat great.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted February 28, 2006 Obviously the bulk of hip-hop I can't personally relate to. But I find talk about tricked out cars and icy jewelry to be the least enchanting of the unrelatable topics.

kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2006 I'm always amused that Flip got so big despite that album cover. That's a real cover? You can keep your B Buns, Little Flips and Cha-something-or-others. Back in my day we had this: And we liked it.
ant_7000 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2006 Scarface is still GOAT of Houston, Bun B is alright. But the rest them I don't care for. On net, all I heard how Chamillionaire was the next big thing out of Houston and I still aint impressed, and Paul took all of Cha's shine, when Paul was consider the weak link of the group. White dudes with plat fronts=album sales
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2006 Speaking of Paul, he seems to be getting progressively fatter with every music video he appears in.

If Paul Wall was black, he'd be just another Houston rapper like Slim Thug.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 what's everyone's take on Paul Wall? Personally, I think he's the most redundant rapper ever...I don't think he can get through a rap without saying "posted up like..." at least 3 times.
Carnival 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Paul Wall raps? I thought he just flashed his grill a bunch of times. One white rapper who gets no respect from me.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 He has a decent flow, but range of topics he raps about is so minute that every verse has a "been there, heard that" feel.

I don't think anyone has forgotten, nor forgiven the Vanilla Ice fiasco, no matter how many Eminems or Beastie Boys we are blessed with. And Paul Wall is alright. He and Jones have more "hustle" than Cham and they don't burn bridges as quickly either and that's very important down here.
ant_7000 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2006 Paul Wall is totally wack, he need to stick with the "Chopped and Screwed" (eventhough I don't like them) tracks, and making grills for others.

Even if he sucks, which I'm not saying he does or that he doesn't, nobody should have to stick to Chopped and Screwed. That shit is terrible.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted March 7, 2006 He was better when he was with Chamillionaire, because atleast he didn't repeat himself as much as he does now. Now he's horrible, and lame. Typical sterotypical southern rapper.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2006 I'm sorry, I can't make it past the stupid music video and insipid hook to pay much attention to the verses. The fact that the Ying-Yang Twins pretty much doomed it from point go, anyway.
