Guest stringerbell Report post Posted March 2, 2006 - Dusty Rhodes is close to a long-term deal with WWE to be on TV and a member of creative. He still wants to do conventions and indie shows. He was supposed to be placed on RAW as GM, but Vince has had a lot of fun in the interim GM role, and will likely stay there through his Mania program with HBK. Rhodes recently nixed an idea to do a tag-team match with Flair at Mania, and a DVD will likely be out soon with a re-release (with new chapters) of his book down the road. He is getting more power within WWE, and was one of the people who spoke out against using Eddy Guerrero in storylines. - Dusty Rhodes' son Cody Runnells was given an offer to go to OVW and see if he likes it. He is a two-time Georgia high school wrestling champion. - Due to back issues, Goldust's new contract calls for a 100 date maximum part-time schedule. - Terry Funk has been contacted by WWE to participate in an ECW One Night Stand match with RVD. He is supposedly finally retiring, having sold his ranch, and he has been turning down $2500 matches lately. He may do the ECW show or a few matches with Dusty Rhodes down the line but that's it. - Superstar Billy Graham recently appeared on the "Big Idea with Donnie Deutsch" for what he supposedly was told would be relating to organ donating, but turned into a steroid conversation. This led to WWE's PR department not being on good terms with the show. - Lilian Garcia has a new album coming out this summer, which will include a duet with Jon Secada and a song written for Eddy Guerrero. - Vince McMahon will be on the April cover of Muscle & Fitness magazine. -Kurt Angle was initially unhappy that Edge got the WWE Title, but of course then an opportunity opened up for Angle when Batista got injured.Additionally, during last month's trip to Mexico, Angle reportedly had no feeling in one of his hands, and was therefore protected in his matches. His latest neck injury reportedly occurred during his January 16 match with HBK during an Angle Slam off the top rope. He has reportedly said that if he does have surgery again, it will be the more minor surgery he's already had twice, not spinal fusion. In other news, he and his wife Karen are reportedly back together. -Notes on the recent Smackdown shows in Japan: it wasn't as successful as past shows; Joey Mercury lost his passport but that turned out not to be an issue; Booker T can't work in Japan due to his felony robbery record from years ago; Orton's pneumonia didn't allow him to fly to Japan; Steamboat refereed an Angle/Henry match; and Helms wasn't on the tour, possibly because of visa issues. This may indicate that his CW title win was a last-minute booking decision. - As a follow up to the Undertaker/Orton/hepatitis story, the Undertaker recently had a meeting at Smackdown where he told the workers that if they didn't want to work with him until he was fully cleared in a few months, he was cool with that. - There is a rumor that POD will be playing theme music for Rey Mysterio live at Wrestlemania. Two members of the band went to high school with Rey. - WWE recently indicated to Mascarita Sagrada and Tzuki that they'll be getting fulltime deals. - Marty Wright (the Boogeyman) supposedly eats worms backstage as well as on camera. chaosrage 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 - Terry Funk has been contacted by WWE to participate in an ECW One Night Stand match with RVD. He is supposedly finally retiring, having sold his ranch, and he has been turning down $2500 matches lately. He may do the ECW show or a few matches with Dusty Rhodes down the line but that's it. That's almost too stupid to believe. It's like the writers all got together and said "Hey, let's try to find the one ECW person that RVD won't be able to have a good match with"
buffybeast 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 Terry Funk will be showing up for bookings three months after he is dead. He will NEVER fully retire.
Guest Tuxedo Mask Report post Posted March 2, 2006 And here I thought Dangerous A was the Stringer Bell of TSM. May I ask what issue this comes from? Most of this news seems a bit dated (as in, something I seem to have read two weeks ago). None the less, can't fault you for your (copyright violating) efforts. Thanks. buffybeast 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 Ok. I always heard that when Dusty had the book, the shows were horrible. That's probably because he always put himself over.
BorneAgain 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 I always wondered why Booker was never on the japanese tours. No wonder he couldn't get that shampoo commercial.

Hell that's a perfect way of getting out of a program and jobbing to the Undertaker.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 That Funk part with Van Dam can't be accurate. Funk and RVD had zero history against each other in ECW and besides I would rather not have Funk job in his retirement match. Not to mention it'd be goofy to job out RVD there. Danville_Wrestling 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 RVD-Funk? I'll take a pass. Also, if this is Funk's last horrah what are the chances RVD jobs? Also, I think I remember reading in Flair's book that Dusty has a good mind for the business...just as long as he isn't trying to put himself over but I don't think that will be a problem here by any stretch of the imagination. I also agree that SD! has been kicking the crap out of RAW since I've been watching SD! consistently in January (b/c my college gets UPN whereas my home does not). It just seems like a more wrestling oriented show.
Just John 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 SD gets shit on way too much. Outside of the Eddie exploitation storyline, the show has been solid all year. They've already produced a legit MOTYC, and even with their decimated roster, are still doing pretty well in the workrate department. Raw has just been dead since Angle left. Bruce Blank 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 They're giving Dusty the book? Good Lord...Read closely - it's already published and all, they're just re-releasing it with a few more chapters (WWE friendly chapters perhaps?) so someone outside the WWE thought it was a great idea to give him a book deal, and hey at least he can't write as mush-mouthed as he talks - it'll actually be understandable *thumbs up*

I'm curious, how long has he been booking Smackdown? Other than the Mark Henry push and the Eddie stuff I've enjoyed what I've seen of the show recently. Bruce Blank 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 I think it's just Japan that are that strict on their rules - I'm sure he can work in Europe with a criminal record, he's been on UK shows I do believe. And how harsh are they? I mean when did he serve time for this? it's been over 15 years hasn't it?

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 I actually thought about that Funk/RVD thing more and here's the only way that scenario would be worth a crap: RVD wins the MITB. At ONS he can job to Funk in his retirement match and at the end of the show cash in the MITB and win. Still I really hope they don't go for that match. It makes no sense.
