TNA iMPACT Ratings

Recommended Posts

From PWInsider via Torch forums...

TNA's Impact rating remained a disappointing 0.7 this past Saturday, scoring an average audience of 736,000 viewers. That had to hurt, especially since it was the episode leading into the Destination X PPV. The show scored only a 0.6 among Males 18-49 and a 0.6 among Males 18-34.

The average rating for Impact remains a 0.8 with an average weekly audience of 939,000 viewers.

So, a couple of questions based off of this little nugget.

Are the days of Sting as a drawing card over?

When will the wakeup call hit the "booking committee" that the current format of TV (squash matches, parity booking, cramming everyone on TV) isn't working and a change is needed?

Depends on the replay. If the replay did .1 higher than usual, it doesn't matter.

At this point as long as the ratings don't dip it doesn't matter how they're doing until the primetime debut comes along.

Yea, let's see how the replay does. But I really think it has to do with the format of Impact. It's the same squashes over and over and that needs to change. There needs to be more unpredictability and excitement.

The format in particular on last Sat's show was fucked. The last half hour consisted of a extended Jarrett vignette/promo, the horrible Christian/Brown segment, and then a pointless 8 man "main event" squash match. No wonder they got a number like this, I'm sure their rating dropped the longer the show went on.

I still believe if iMPACT was on Monday night at around 7-8 central time its ratings would be better. The show before the Destination X PPV was ok it was just the usual highlights of all of the buildup to the PPV which made it feel like an episode of HEAT thats not a bad thing but not exactly a good thing either. Impact will never get the must see tv feeling until it follows the ECW formula of having a hot finish in the final match or some kind of shock value in the show or have the matches go beyond 15 minutes proving that it is indeed the alternative to the McMahon Family Variety Hour.

This episode of iMPACT was just an average X division match (Dangerous Sabin did rule) and the been there done that tag match of Naturals vs AMW which was good but should not of opened the show and was probably too short. The big tag match at the end of the show was entertaining but as a fan of the TRUTH I must say the man needs to learn some restraint....please don't do the twisting oversell everytime you do a dropkick or leg lariat or spin kick...it looked great with the scissors kick finish but lost some of its meaning since he used it 4 times in a row early in the match.

In conclusion the monday night repeat needs to be on earlier and iMPACT needs longer matches and better psycology if you will.

I liked the Brown/Cage segment on Impact. I actually have wanted TNA to have more of those "serious" type segments, the ones where they try to have a straight up interview, making it look more legit.

Here you go, from PWInsider.com:

Well, that's a shame.

Also from PWInsider.com:

TNA Impact's ratings being down of late has to be an internal concern as they prepare to move to Thursdays. The sad irony is that the shows have been solid the last several weeks, so it's hard to guess an absolute reason. One theory making the rounds is that TNA did too great a job in presenting Sting's retirement and fans legitimately believed he was gone and tuned out

Yeah, right.

And people have been suggesting that maybe PWinsider are making money off TNA :D

Yeah, right.

Oh yeah the mistake wasn't bringing in Sting, promoting his signing to high heavens and then proceed to not have him on the damn show forever (and still don't)

but oh no it's because they were too GOOD at making it look like Sting retired *rolls eyes*

There isn't a reason to watch the shows. That's their number one problem.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Huh?

So, what boosted the ratings up to a .7? Chicks who want to bang Steroid Steiner and Jarrett? Grandpas yelling at their screen every week hoping Sting comes back?
