Special K 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Name your fave actor and actress, why, and significant roles. Mine: Steve Buscemi: Maybe because he's the sole survivor of Reservoir Dogs, maybe because he's funny as fuck. Maybe because he has had so many good roles, unseen by many. Reservoir Dogs, Con Air, Trees Lounge, Living in Oblivion, Fargo. Catherine Keener: She's beautiful, but not in a Hollywood way. I firmly believe she's just looking for that one incredible part, because she is an incredible actress: Lovely & Amazaing, Being John Malkovich, Death to Smoochy, 40yo virgin, Living in Oblivion (again) She just got nominated for Capote, and rushed from the Oscars to go to YeahYeahYeahs concert. That's my girl Gold Lion
randomguy 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Christopher Walken - he's Christopher Walken. End of story. Has he ever been bad in anything? From Deer Hunter to Suicide Kings to King of NY the man is pure gold. Hell he was even good in the Prophecy movies. I could also go with Clint Eastwood here. I love his westerns and the Dirty Harry films. (Or the good ones anyway!) Eastwood has a much larger range than most people would credit him for. Women are tough. Kate Beckinsale is very hot and also very classy and seems intelligent, and she can act well enough. She was good in, um, Brokedown Palace, Laurel Canyon (or so I hear, neve seen it) and Last Days of Disco. (I saw that movie when it came out and never realized that was her into last month or so) I can't honestly say I have a favorite actress. I do have a soft spot in my heart for Winona Ryder though. (Heathers, Beetlejuice, Reality Bites, Edward Scissorhands)
razazteca 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 I don't know who I lust after more Roller Girl or Julianne Moore....how the hell did Philip Seymore Hoffman go from Boogie Knights to everybody's favorite character actor?
Special K 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Because he's a fucking phenomenal actor. He's the only part I noticed in Boogie Knights. Besides Heather Graham's phenomenal tits. And Julliane Moore's really nice tits.
Dr. Zoidberg 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Actor - Jason Lee. For a guy who was, at one time, THE top pro skateboarder to transition to movies, AND do well in said movies must mean that the guy has talent. His stuff in Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and especially (in my opinion, his best work) Dogma was really quite good, and "My Name Is Earl" is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows. Actress - Keira Knightley. I've liked this broad since I saw POTC, (which I'm sure is when most everyone else did too), and each movie I see her in, she seems to put her all into and show that she is one of the best talents around. Sure, Domino was a crapfest, but Keira tried to make it work, and I must say, she did a very good job. Plus, she's hot.
Special K 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Jason Lee is mugging and doing kickflips in Sonic Youth's !00% video. +100 points for that.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Actor: Daniel-Day-Lewis. I watched My Left Food as part of an English Media assignment in Grade 12 and was hooked. Loved everything since. I really dig his eccentricity towards the craft and the way he'll approach roles. Legit contender for a "Never gives a bad performance" rep. Whenever he gives a performance it's worth waiting for. Actress: Julianne Moore. Boogie Nights, Far From Heaven, Big Lebowski. Good enough for me. Hot as shit, versatile and will seemingly get naked for fun. The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Favorite Male Actor: Tom Sizemore. He's just totally unstable in the movies and out of them. Fantastic parts in both Black Hawk Down and Saving Private Ryan. Part of my all-time favorite shootout in Heat. Really believable, gruff guy. I couldn't see him as Mr. Pink though (he auditioned for the role six times-- that takes determination). Also the first person known to actually use the Whizzinator. Plus he put up a good fight (against Ray Liotta) in Vice City. He's not an artsy prick or anything, he's a true motherfucker. I hope he takes care of his drug problems and gets into top form. Tremendous talent. Honorable mentions: Christopher Walken, Ray Liotta, Steve Carell, Scatman Crothers Favorite Female Actor: Naomi Watts. Man is she attractive. She can act, too. REALLY act. See: 21 Grams. And if you want to, go see Mulholland Dr. and King Kong. But see 21 Grams first. Who else is good looking and shows acting credibility?: Alexis Bledel, Rachel McAdams, Scarlett Johannson, Anne Hathaway
Ravenbomb 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Favorite Actor: My first instinct was De Niro, but he hasn't done anything good since Heat. I'll go with Christian Bale. The only bad movie I've seen him in is Swing Kids, and he was good in that. And The Machinist was just...fantastic. If the movie would've gotten more exposure, that would have been his breakout role instead of Batman. Favorite Actress: Jennifer Connelly. I have yet to see her in a bad movie. Requiem for a Dream and Dark City in particular are two of the greatest movies I've ever seen.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Morgan Freeman -- because he's Morgan f'n Freeman. I don't have a favorite actress, but I'd bang Eliza Dushku in a heartbeat (and try to make it last longer than that).

Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 tie between Denzel Washington, Harrison Ford, Morgan Freeman and Bruce Willis-they've all starred in their fair share of crap, but they're almost always gold no matter what they're in. not sure about favorite actress...there isn't really one that makes me go "oh man, SHE'S headlining this? I GOTTA SEE IT!" As far as looks alone go, well shit there's a ton of those.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Actor would be either Robert Duvall or James Woods. Actress would be .... ummm, I guess I'm kind of like Lushus, in that there aren't any actresses that I just HAVE to see. If I had to pick one, it'd probably be Charlize Theron.
the max 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Actor: My favorite is Kiefer Sutherland as he can make any performance enjoyable. But he's not in a lot of movies...I'd say Tom Hanks, since I see pretty much any movie that he's in. Actress: hard to say, really. I don't see movies for any specific actress, but I'd say Jennifer Aniston is my favorite...

Actress would be .... ummm, I guess I'm kind of like Lushus, in that there aren't any actresses that I just HAVE to see. If I had to pick one, it'd probably be Charlize Theron. I think the problem with most guys is that, in a similar fashion to female rappers and female comedians, we can't really relate to the movies a female would have the lead role in...while there are great actresses out there, Julia Roberts for example, I'm not clammoring to see any of her kind of movies...even Charlize Theron; guys see a Bruce Willis or Tom Cruise action flick to see those guys kicking ass...on the flipside, guys see Aeon Flux to see Charlize jumping around in tight spandex...now I haven't seen North Country, but I hated Monster and have no desire to see it again...Reese Witherspoon won Best Actress, but it was in a movie a guy would go see. Not too many guys are flocking to the theater for "Legally Blonde" or some of that other shit she headlines.
randomguy 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 James Woods is a good call, even in garbage like John Carpenter's Vampires he's good.
CheesalaIsGood 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Gary Oldman - Motherfucker can bring the scary. For a long time it seemed he was the choice to play certain figures in history and he would morph into them (JFK, Beethoven). Then it seemed he was just a heavy, or a villain if you will(AF1, Professional, Fifth Element). Now he is taking on lighter stuff, but still tearing it up (Batman Begins). Julianne Moore - So many parts, so little time. The fact that she is hot is a plus. Yet she is not a starlet. She can act. She can make a character. Man, I'd love to fuck her brains out. Si82 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 John Cusack: He can play a great range of characters and is never less than watchable in anything he's in. Con Air, Grosse Pointe Blank, Being John Malkovich, Identity. Kate Winslet: Again, manages to play a range of different characters and seems to really throw herself into the parts. Heavenly Creatures, Titanic, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Aero 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2006 Favorite actor would probably be John Cusack. Like Si said above, he's just very watchable in everything he's in. High Fidelity, Grosse Pointe Blank, Con Air, Being John Malkovich, among others. I really don't have a favorite actress. Based on hotness alone, I loved Rachel McAdams in Wedding Crashers. Winona Ryder's pretty good too.

JST 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2006 Male: Samuel L. Jackson. Ezekiel 25:17. Nuff said. Female: I'm with the Eliza Dushku love here, but more for the fact that she can play the standard cute girl-next-door (Tru Calling), or the tomboy asskicking bitch (Faith in Buffy/Angel), both very well.
