UZI Suicide Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Dwight Howard nearly had a 30-30 with 28 points and 26 boards. Crazy. That's insane. He's a hoss.
alfdogg Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 We just couldn't win them all, could we. Philly lost, though, which means the Pacers and Bucks both clinch.
alfdogg Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 Barring a miracle, the Bucks are going to lose, too, so at least we don't fall all the way back to 7th.
Kurt Angle Mark Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Nuggets getting killed by Sacramento This means that Clippers don't have to win again because that would guarantee the 6th seed and homecourt. Can't wait to see how they approach this.

Mr. S£im Citrus Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Kings' magic number is down to one.
alfdogg Posted April 16, 2006 Author Report Posted April 16, 2006 Playoff stuff: Tiebreaker Key 1. Season series 2. Division record (if tied teams are in same division) 3. Conference record 4. Record against playoff opponents in conference 5. Record against playoff opponents in opposite conference 6. Better point differential between offense and defense East 1. Detroit (64-17, clinched homecourt throughout playoffs) 2. Miami (52-28, clinched #2 seed) 3. New Jersey (49-31, clinched #3 seed) 4. Cleveland (49-32, clinched #4 seed) 5. Washington (40-40, clinched playoff berth) 6. Milwaukee (40-41, clinched playoff berth) 7. Indiana (40-41, clinched playoff berth) 8. Chicago (40-41, clinched playoff berth) Tiebreakers: Cleveland currently owns the #4 tiebreaker over New Jersey. Milwaukee owns the #1 tiebreaker over Washington, and #2 tiebreakers over Indiana and Chicago. Indiana owns the #2 tiebreaker over Chicago. Washington owns the #3 tiebreaker over Indiana. Chicago owns the #1 tiebreaker over Washington. West 1. San Antonio (62-19, clinched #1 seed) 2. Phoenix (52-28), clinched #2 seed) 3. Denver (44-36, clinched #3 seed) 4. Dallas (60-21, clinched playoff berth) 5. Memphis (47-33, clinched playoff berth) 6. LA Clippers (46-34, clinched playoff berth) 7. LA Lakers (44-37, clinched playoff berth) 8. Sacramento (43-38, clinched playoff berth) Tiebreakers: Memphis currently owns the #1 tiebreaker over LA Clippers. Memphis still hosts the Clippers one more time. Memphis also currently owns the #3 and #4 tiebreakers. Sacramento owns the #2 tiebreaker over LA Lakers. There, I'm pretty sure I covered everything.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Dwight Howard nearly had a 30-30 with 28 points and 26 boards. Crazy. I watched that game today. It was a fun game. Down to the wire the 9 and 10 "seeds". I loved seeing D. Howard have such a huge game too. He's one of my favorite's in the league. True class act and on the road to superstardom. I definately think he has been way underrated thus far, but I think he may be taking a road similar to Bosh/Amare Stoudemire, where they really get hyped come Year 3. It was nice because I enjoyed that game, then flipped over on the League Pass to catch the end of that Pacers/Bobcats game. Somewhat meaningless game (other than possibly what spot Pacers wind up in the playoffs), but a fun game.
jwpeer Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 It'd be funny if Utah were in the east, they'd be the 5 seed and in perfect position to play Detroit in the 2nd round, the team they destroyed twice this season. For some reason, I'd rather see Utah play detroit than any of these East teams, cus at least with the Jazz there's something to let you doubt Detroit being able to roll through them like a train.
Kurt Angle Mark Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Now, the way I see it, Chicago also owns the #3 tiebreaker over Philadelphia, but I thought I heard ESPN say the other day that Philly had the tiebreaker. So if someone could clarify this for me, I'd appreciate it. Bulls have tie-breaker #3, they have six more conference wins than the Sixers The Magic can only make the playoffs if there is a three way tie between them, the sixers and the Bulls. They would have a better record in head to head games. The Magic must go 2-0, Bulls 0-3, Phildelphia 1-1 for that to happen, any other result and the Magic are out. Bulls would have tie-breaker #3 over the Magic, if there was a two team tie between them
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Looks like the Bulls goes in the playoffs. I was surprised at how well they played against Miami even though I know the Heat didn't have the same sense of urgency.
The Electrifyer Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Philly and Orlando should be pissed at that 4th quarter effort, since Riley put Shaq or Wade in for any of that. I'm not even sure I saw a starter for that quarter either. But I don't really care... the Bulls are in the playoffs again baby! I just hope we give Detroit a challenge. What were the ABC announcers talking about with Washington needing a win to clinch? They're like 5th or something... haven't they already clinched a spot? Can anyone clarify this one for me?

Guest Smues Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Yeah it's really wierd seeing the 6th 7th and 8th seeds clinched and the 5th not. Tiebreaker wierdness abounds.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 To be fair, Orlando and Philly really have no one to blame but themselves. They shouldn't have been relying on outside circumstances in the first place.
jwpeer Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Orlando is better off not in the playoffs this year and having a chance for a higher lottery pick. They can do really good with one of the higher picks and year 3 of Dwight Howard. Orlando could be REALLY strong next year, if things fall into place for them.
Guest Vitamin X Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 Yeah, that was nice to see, I'm just disappointed the Lakers didn't get the #6 seed.
Guest Posted April 16, 2006 Report Posted April 16, 2006 They're going to give the Suns a series. Yes, I know that Nash didn't play today.
Just John Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 I'm calling it: The Clippers make it to the WCF.
alfdogg Posted April 17, 2006 Author Report Posted April 17, 2006 Kings clinch as well with Utah's loss, meaning Shareef Abdur-Rahim is going to the playoffs for the first time in his career. A win and a Laker loss would move the Kings into 7th.
Mr. S£im Citrus Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 Ron Artest comes through on his guarantee! Don't call it a comeback... we been here for years...
Guest Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 I want the Lakers to play the Suns. I've looked through a whole bunch of things, and I think it's the best way the Lakers can win. They won't beat San Antonio, but the Lakers can beat Phoenix. Kobe just has to play like Kobe, and the Lakers need some kind of contribution from Lamar Odom. It's possible. Of course, I'm a homer and fanboy for having ever said that.
Mr. S£im Citrus Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 Anybody else think that the Clippers are "tanking" to get that sixth seed? And, speaking of tanking, I don't appreciate Phoenix sitting Nash and Bell against the GD Lakers.

Brett Favre Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 The thing is, the Suns have someone who can atleast make Kobe work in Raja Bell. Who the hell is going to stop Nash and Marion? Suns in 5.

No blowouts and all the games will be decided in the final 5 minutes. The Lakers are going to have to run with the Suns unless they put Kobe or Odom on Marion. Odom can't stick Marion, but Odom's length can hinder him. I wouldn't be shocked if Kobe defended Nash late in every game. If the Suns win the series, it wouldn't bother me. I respect them.
Ripper Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 What the hell is wrong with you people. The lakers haven't beaten the suns in nearly two freakin years. They finally win one when Nash doesn't play and all of a sudden they are going to take them in the playoffs? They don't stand a chance in this series. Yes I am saying that with this much confidence. They don't stand a single chance of beating the Suns in this series unless all of the newcomers choke, and the lakers would be having the same problem there. And Kobe will average 40 a game in the series. And they will get swept.
Guest Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 Past history doesn't mean much and neither does the Lakers win today. The Lakers are focused for the first time in 2 years. I think that means a lot, as does LA's ability to win at home. I'd pick the Lakers if they got blown out by 20 today. If the Lakers fall into the 8 seed, they'll lose in 5 to the Spurs.
Ripper Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 History smishtory. They can't stop Nash, they can't stop Marion...or Diaw, Eddie House is too quick for all of their guards. This is probably the only first round matchup in the west I am sure about the outcome. The Lakers can't beat the suns once for two years and all of a sudden they are going to beat them 4 times in 7 games? If this game happened say last week, the Lakers get swept in the season series again.
