Mr. S£im Citrus Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Not actually a reason why ESPN sucks, but I'm listening to a podcast of PTI, and hearing Reali breaking up in the background when Kornheiser and LeBatard do a Geico joke is making me break up, too.
Special K Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 What I wouldn't give to again see Madden rip apart a turducken with his bare hands. "Y'see you see, Al, they have a whole duck stuffed in here!" *tear tear tear* ...silence.
hyperchord24 Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Speaking of PTI, Lebitard was filling in for Wilbon this week. Here's an interesting argument by Lebitard: Teams should go after guys with histories of run-ins with the law because it'll give them that certain competitive edge, or something.
Timmy8271 Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Somebody actually pays for the ESPN insider? LeBatard rules.
Special K Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 it didn't help the Bengals! Shut up you! *Impotently shakes fist
Dobbs 3K Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Stuff like that is why I can't watch college football. I don't care about "strength of schedule" or some computer program determining rankings. Why don't they just use a system that makes some damn sense?
Cuban Linx Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Here's an interesting argument by Lebitard: Teams should go after guys with histories of run-ins with the law because it'll give them that certain competitive edge, or something. If that's true then the Portland Trailblazers of the last few years should have been the best team of all time. Isiah Rider, Rasheed Wallace, Damon Stoudamire, Ruben Patterson, Zach Randolph, Darius Miles, Sebastian Telfair, Qyntel Woods, can't get much more 'competitive edge' than that bunch.

First of all, I'm not 100% in love with your tone right now. I was cracking up too because Kornheiser seemed legitimately pissed with LeBetard who threw in that totally random Geico joke. I had the same reaction as Reali, actually. That made it even funnier.

Actually his argument was only for football as he cited Ohio State with Maurice Clarett and Nebraska with Lawrence Phillips. And he really said that when you play a violent sport like football, it helps to have players on the cusp/edge of law because they are violent.

Did my paraphrasing not translate well?
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Well your paraphrasing was too broad, as if it would include basketball and baseball and etc, which led Cuban Linx to chip in with the Portland thing. I made sure to mention that he was talking about football primarily.
MFer Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Yeah LeBatard was about to smack Kornheiser upside the head. Looked like they were legitimately pissed at each other.
hyperchord24 Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 Yeah LeBatard was about to smack Kornheiser upside the head. Looked like they were legitimately pissed at each other. I could see that (I didn't actually see the episode). But then again, maybe I think LeBatard is more of an idiot than he actually is.
Art Sandusky Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 No, he's just as dumb and annoying as you think he is.
cabbageboy Posted January 4, 2007 Report Posted January 4, 2007 LeBatard pissed me off a bit on that show when he called the Orange Bowl a matchup of "Two second tier teams." While Wake pretty much is one, U of L has been highly ranked most of the year and came within 3 points of playing Ohio St. for the title. I do think it would be funny if Boise ends up the only unbeaten team.
Guest Princess Leena Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 Why must PTI keep LeBatard as the backup guy? Everyone hates him. He knows it. They all know it. They play it up. Where's the point of keeping him there?

Where's the point of keeping him there? BAM!!! I crack up everytime he says that. Plus he can speak english unlike Bob Ryan.
2GOLD Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 Why must PTI keep LeBatard as the backup guy? Everyone hates him. He knows it. They all know it. They play it up. Where's the point of keeping him there? ESPN likes him because he is their source in Miami. WHY I don't know, but I gave up trying to understand ESPN for awhile.
Art Sandusky Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 I like Bob Ryan. It's a treat whenever he's with Wilbon.
Mik Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 Honestly... I like everyone that's on PTI currently. The days of Jason Whitlock, Norman Chad, and Jackie MacMullen still send a chill down my spine, however.
RepoMan Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 I did think that LeBatard had a little bit of a point. Football is a violent game and having some legitmently violent guys on your team is not nessacarily a bad thing. The exchange w/ Kornheiser was entertaining, but I think Kornheiser looks like more of the jack ass for not letting the subject rest. It made me not hate LeBatard for a few minutes. What's David Holmes up too? He owned on the faux PTI on Dream Job. Way better than anyone else on the PTI B team.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted January 5, 2007 Report Posted January 5, 2007 The Cowher worship has begun...
Timmy8271 Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 I see ESPN brought Robert Flores to the big time: SportsCenter. So who left the show?
Mik Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 J.A. Adande brought his A game yesterday busting out his Jaws impression for an entire segment and doing an awesome Art Shell impersonation to end the show. Funniest thing I've seen on that show in ages. Of course he didn't win.
Bored Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 And God of football Sean Salisbary steak went to USC. Speaking of which: If Sean Salisbury Asks You To Look At His Phone, Don't Do It. The NFL analyst who shall not be named that took a picture of his penis with a cell phone camera and has shown it to numerous, uncomfortable women, then was suspended by his network for it. Absolute true story. Please make sure to clean off the mirror when you are done with it. And The Big Lead learned this morning that the analyst in question was ESPN's Sean Salisbury.
Guest Smues Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 As of the new year ESPN mobile is dead. I can only hope they kill that fucker from the commercials too.

Maybe he'll get a promotion like Terico did.
Mik Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Makes you wonder what Harold Reynolds really did if an inferior analyst in Salisbury can get his job back after texting his penis around.
Art Sandusky Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Remember, we're evaluating them based on how much we like them. The fat cats at ESPN might like Sean Penisbury.
