naiwf 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2006 Motherfucker, Jones hits another HR. Why pitch to him in a 0-0 game? Damnit.
Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2006 With the way both Josh Beckett and Hanley Ramirez have been performing you have to think both the Red Sox and Marlins are happy with that deal.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2006 The Mets lose 2-1 thanks to David Wright's 3 errors and one stupid pitch from Glavine to Andruw. I knew the Mets would lose 2 of 3 to Atlanta early in the season, but I didn't think it would happen this soon. We need to win the next series from the Padres. Guest NYankees Report post Posted April 19, 2006 With the way both Josh Beckett and Hanley Ramirez have been performing you have to think both the Red Sox and Marlins are happy with that deal. I think it is far too early to judge a deal 3 weeks into the season. Mets are going to have to get that Braves monkey off their back if they want anybody to take them serious. Andruw Jones is a Mets killer.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2006 I honestly had never heard his name until just now. Veras was a decent prospect in the Devil Rays' organization but apparently stalled in 2004. The Devil Rays made him a reliever, but let him go after the season. The Rangers used Veras as a reliever full time in Oklahoma, where he struck out 72 batters in 61 2/3 IP. Veras has control issues but a real live arm. This is an encouraging acquisition for the Yankees, as this is exactly the type of way a smart organization builds a bullpen. Get a few of these guys, pay them the minimum, and if one or two pay off you're set. Once in a while, one of these guys turns into a Bobby Jenks. That was an evaluation I made on November 19th last year. I saw Veras pitch last night and strike out two of the four batters he faced. He's got some very good stuff, and he could surprise people if the Yankees need bullpen help midseason.

But don't let being a wiseass get in the way of common sense.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2006 My comment actually worked two ways. It could be interpreted as either: 1. Padres sucked badly thus far, I would know, I watch them more than I watch my favorite team. So if you can't beat them, then you really shouldn't hope for anything this year. OR 2. It's still very very early. So you go on a hot start, and lose 4 games straight, it's all over for you? Please. Last year the White Sox had a white-hot start, then tumbled all the way to only holding, what, 2 games lead over the Indians. They managed to still win the final series and went on to go 11-1 in the playoffs, including the World Series. But don't let the "OH WOES IS ME METS FAN" get in the way of common sense. Guest Smues Report post Posted April 19, 2006 SportsCenter started by recapping the Braves game. They show the last out of the 5th and say that Hudson still has the no-no in tact, next thing we see it's 2 on in the 6th. Smooth ESPN, smooth.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2006 Argh..ESPN2HD has the Os game but its blacked out..so I get CSN. Yeah. I dont think HD would make this game any better anyway.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted April 20, 2006 Jerry Reinsdorf wants A.J. Pierzynski to get a haircut so that he'll look respectable. Gotta start somewhere, I guess.
the max 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2006 The Rays slogan this season is "We come to play." Notice that it doesn't describe HOW they intend to play upon arriving. 8-0 Red Sox after three.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2006 The Rays slogan this season is "We come to play." Notice that it doesn't describe HOW they intend to play upon arriving. 8-0 Red Sox after three. I think it should be "We're a bunch of dirtbags" like their announcer was calling one of em (cant remember which..gomes? Wigginton?) Anyway, Os with a nice comeback down 7-3 now up 8-7. Holy crap.. Patterson with a 2 Run HR! 10-7 Os, 7 runs in the bottom of the 5th!
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2006 Pitchers' dual in Houston (Pettitte vs Capuano)...Brewers lead 1-0 in the 5th, thanks to a Rickie Weeks RBI groundout.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2006 The O's are hitting awesome tonight. 13 runs now through 6 innings.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2006 So I listen to the Phils tie this game on the radio on the way home from Scranton. I get home and put on the tv, and it's Ryan Franklin. Why must I be punished like this?
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted April 20, 2006 Ryan pitched a perfect inning. Apologize.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2006 With any luck, the Os bullpen will give up 1 more run (its now 13-9) so Chris Ray can come in and nail down the save. The Os have THE WORST bullpen (outside of Chris Ray) in baseball..easily. Well..they didn't. Ray should still come in though.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2006 I dont think Ray will be needed now after a Ramon Hernandez 3-R HR, its 17-9.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2006 The Ravens lead the Browns 17-9 now. They just went for 2 and converted..18-9...wait..that doesnt make sense..ugh And, maybe the Indians bullpen is worse than the Os.. Every Os starter has at least 2 hits and every starter has an RBI except for Roberts.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2006 4-1 Brewers in Houston. Pettitte's outta the game. Both SP looked really good. Hopefully Houston doesn't give up anymore runs. Turnbow's on my fantasy team.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2006 5-1 now...probably not a save situation at this point, so I doubt we'll see Turnbow.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2006 Nevermind...Astros just scored two more runs, so it's 5-3...maybe Turnbow will make an appearance after all.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2006 5-1 now...probably not a save situation at this point, so I doubt we'll see Turnbow. And just like that...5-2. Ensberg, also on my fantasy team, has hit 6 homeruns in the last five games. I don't know if the 'Stros are gonna pull this one out, though. However, we have made some furious comebacks. Even if they don't, I wasn't expecting them to go 157-5. I'll be happy with 156-6.
