King Kamala 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 How about Carlton taking amphetamines and going nuts at a school dance? We can't forget that one! It was a classic. All of those Norman Lear sitoms were good "very special episodes". All In The Family seemed to have almost as many serious episodes as dramatic and until the end, when it became sappy and transformed into Archie Bunker's Place, almost all of them were damn good. Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Hangin With Mr. Cooper was my favorite black sitcom show as a kid... As I got into high school, my mom bought me Sanford & Son seasons, and it became one of my favorite shows.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 Oh, I forgot the Jeffersons. The one when George gets a gun and LIonel and whats-her-faces daughter almost kills herself was a good special moment episode.
NYU 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 That was fucking hillarious. Huey Lewis! McLovin! Don Cheadle! Meat Loaf! Harrison Ford! Just awesome The Harrison Ford cameo was my favorite one. McLovin was probably second as he really came out of left field. I didn't notice Brad Pitt as the Fed-Ex guy until the second time I watched it.
Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 No, the very special of all very specials is Jessie Spano getting high on caffeine pills: I'M SO EXCITED! I'M SO EXCITED! I'M SO....SCARED!!!
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 The Full House child abuse episode is excellent though. Especially when Michelle, as usual is acting like a total spoiled cunt, and Stephanie just puts her in her place. Great TV. I remember my dad used to tell me how gay Perfect Strangers was, and I always denied it, until I saw the first Christmas episode. Wow. Of course, after meeting Bronson Pinchot, I can never watch that show again. Family Matters also had an episode where Harriet and Rachel's father returned, even though he was supposed to be dead. Of course at the end Harriet reconciles with him...and he's never seen again. The episode where Carl is dealing with grief over the one-year anniversary of someone getting shot in front of him is another great episode. Especially when Carl and the widow meet at his grave. Fresh Prince has the Will and Carlton getting pulled over episode, with Carlton defending the cops.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 I liked that episode of Punky Brewster where Cherie got locked in a fridge. Wasn't there an episode of Mr. Belvedere where Wesley taught people that it was ok to associate with someone with AIDS? I think he was molested at camp, too. Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 SHIT! How can I forget, Carol Sever's boyfriend, played by Matthew Perry dying as a result of drunk driving! How ironic that Tracey Gold would catch a real life DUI case herself, years later.

Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 I remember that...it was like a Made For TV movie and don't they get roped in to some criminal conspiracy in Paris or some shit like that? I might be confusng it with European Vacation...
Ripper 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 I liked that episode of Punky Brewster where Cherie got locked in a fridge. Wasn't there an episode of Mr. Belvedere where Wesley taught people that it was ok to associate with someone with AIDS? I think he was molested at camp, too. There was a episode about a girl with AIDs on a diffrent world. Tisha Campbell was the girl I think. I remember they had to write something about where they would be in five years and she wrote something about how she died from AIDS or something. It was right when Whitley was ready to let Dwayne Wayne get some, but the whole AIDS thing scared her. And everyone started treating the AIDS girl differently at the Cafe and Mr. Gaines yelled at them. Thats how you handle AIDs. Let a old, bald black man yell at people about the facts. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 "The Keatons realize their neighborhood is all white" lol. I have to admit I haven't actually seen any of these so maybe the idea a show would start to suck because a family went on vacation isn't as weird with the plot BL described. There have probably been multiple AIDS episodes across the TV landscape, but there was one about Wesley's classmate on Mr. Belvedere, this I can assure you. He taught the adults to be tolerant! Black Lushus 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 okay I looked it up...the Keatons went to London and somehow they got a hold of a hair brush that had a secret spy film hidden inside and had the authorities as well as the criminals after them in the good old "classic mix up" routine. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 "Silence is not Golden" Business picks up in part 2. "Think about a funny movie, like Home Alone or Roger Rabbit when you're getting it" "Getting what?" "You know, a pounding from your dad".
bob_barron 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 I love you Dr.Venkman. Seriously, how is that not the best episode ever? You also have pre-fame Topanga. As a hater of everything Michelle, I just loved seeing her finally get in trouble for something
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2008 We can't mention special episodes of Full House and black sitcoms without mentioning the moment those two briefly merged. That moment being the episode where DJ befriended an old black man played by Whitman Mayo (Grady from Sanford and Son) and then she found out that he had Alzheimer's Disease. Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 My favorite very special episode was probably from "Boy Meets World". Still distraught after losing Topenga, Cory turns to drinking and gets Shawn into it as well. After getting in trouble with the cops, Cory's parents yell at him and convince him that drinking is wrong, however, Shawn is still hooked and his brother Jack tells him that alcoholism runs in the family so he eventually stops. Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted February 26, 2008 Fresh Prince has the Will and Carlton getting pulled over episode, with Carlton defending the cops. Fucking awesome episode. So fuckin' funny... *Will in Freddy Krueger outfit* "FOUR, GET THE STICK OUTTA YOUR BUTT!" "Yeah, we done it! Word to Big Bird..." "I won't get into Princeton, I won't be admitted to the bar." "Neither will I, the cops took my fake ID." "What do you say to an Oreo?" "I say 'Wassup, Carlton!'" I like all the Full House ones. I unironically love that show, partially because it's so dumb and safe and perfect. It's comforting in its way. The best is probably the one where Steph is tempted to start smoking. I just find it very quaint and cute. It's funny, in that episode, Gia was the bad influence, and Steph was friends with Mickey, and after that Steph and Gia were best friends and you never saw Mickey again. I'd have liked to have someone ask what happened to Mickey later on: "Eh, she hit the bottle pretty hard and got kicked out of school."
