Guest Smues Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 While I had pretty much conceeded that RV would win the weekend, at least it didn't make a huge amount of money or anything. I really had no idea how Flight 93 would do, I had kinda of figured it would either make close to nothing or have a huge opening weekend but I guess I was wrong there. The Benchwarmers passing $50 million makes me a sad panda.
The Amazing Rando Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 It looks at though United 93 would have EASILY gotten number one if it would have been in anywhere near the same amount of theatres "RV" was in.
RedJed Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 It was one of those weekends were there wasnt any huge films coming out in prep for May, so the low numbers dont surprise me. RV looks like the antithesis of just barely stratching the surface of a DVD rental. Sentinel was a pretty good flick, as I did check that out over the weekend myself. I wonder how it will fare next week, as I felt this has a much better shelf life than something like SM4 or even Silent Hill.
haws bah gawd Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 I have to say I'm shocked. I fully expected Flight 93 hit some ungodly opening week box office.
the max Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 I know a few people who were a little surprised about the A&E movie that was aired, thinking that it might have been too soon for that, let alone a 9-11 movie made for profit.
haws bah gawd Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 "The Flight that Fought Back" was the A&E movie right? Or was it on TLC? It was quite a depressing flick but I marked the fuck out like it was Rock vs Hogan all over again when the passengers rushed the cockpit and beat the shit out of one of the hijackers before they decided to crash the plane.
the max Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 There was a 'United 93' tv movie as well, I think it was on the Discovery Channel or something.
gWIL Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 I'm suprised that American Dreamz flopped so badly. I went to see it on Saturday and it was great. See it in theatres while you still can.
Mole Posted April 30, 2006 Report Posted April 30, 2006 There was a 'United 93' tv movie as well, I think it was on the Discovery Channel or something. A&E. Gee, I wonder what will be #1 next week...
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Probably Hoot or An American Haunting...
razazteca Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Bench Warmers made the $50+ on the pretense that Napolean Dynamite was in it.
Guest Evolution Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Word of mouth may keep United 93 afloat for awhile, critics have even been backing it.
slimm44 Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Which goes to show America loves Robin Williams movies than true life/historical moments.
Dr. Zaius Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 I didn't know that's what the number after the dollar amount was. So RV made 40% more money by being on 100% more screens? Robin Williams should be proud.
Hank Kingsley Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Whoa, Will Arnett and Tony Hale are in R.V.?
bob_barron Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 I didn't know Buster was in it, but I know Gob plays Williams' boss, he's supposed to be really funny. Buster is also in Larry the Cable Guy's movie
Cheech Tremendous Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 The new issue of GQ has an interview with Robin Williams discussing the way his career faltered in the late 90s and early 00s because of bad movie selection. He said that he got caught up doing family films and not pushing himself as an actor. The whole time I'm reading this I was thinkingg to myself, "Isn't this the guy who's in that ridiculous looking RV movie?"
haws bah gawd Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 I'm more surprised to see that Jeff FUCKING Daniels is in R.V. I seriously thought he was dead. Haven't heard of a movie from him in ages.
Hawk 34 Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 I'm more surprised to see that Jeff FUCKING Daniels is in R.V. I seriously thought he was dead. Haven't heard of a movie from him in ages. What about The Squid and The Whale? Which was one of the better movies in the last couple years, or Good Night and Good Luck? It's not like he's disappeared.
bob_barron Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 I'm more surprised to see that Jeff FUCKING Daniels is in R.V. I seriously thought he was dead. Haven't heard of a movie from him in ages. He should've gotten an Oscar nomination for Squid and the Whale, excellent movie.
SuperJerk Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 Whoa, Will Arnett and Tony Hale are in R.V.? Will Arnett needs to be in very movie.
