MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Gomez just missed hitting another 2 run hr over the monster by about 8 or 10 feet...just after a bench clearing altercation type deal when Matos got hit. Its still 7-3 in the 8th with 2 out..
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Gah, the 'Stros are suffering from "Cubs Syndrome" as they are on the verge of being shutout in Colorado by Jason Jennings. And super-utility man Chris Burke left with a shoulder injury.

Bored 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 In the PCL last night, New Orleans beat Nashville 5-4 in 24 innings tying the league record. Here's the boxscore.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Man, this team sucks. I'm tired of all this speed and smallball talk. They have five steals; none have scored. They have tried the sac bunt; once unsuccessfully. The next time, Todd Walker, one of their best hitters, gives himself up to move the runner over. All to let our new cleanup hitter, Jacque Jones strike out swinging for the first time. And we lost as I typed this and about four minutes after I said I hoped they'd lose. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 P.S. an interesting note: the Cubs have now left 40 men on base in the four games on this road trip from hell. The two runs they've scored have been from a solo homer and a bases loaded walk from Greg Maddux. But we don't have Lee, Wood, and Prior so __________. I love excuses. Bored 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Obviously they have too many baserunners then. You can't score runs with guys clogging up the bases!
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 This is probably will open up a huge can of worms, but as a non-frequent poster, I see alot of people here complain about Yankee/Boston talk. Yet all I ever seem to see here is talk about the Cubs, since the day I joined here.
UZI Suicide 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Nomar hits a walk-off RBI single for the second straight night.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Half this board lives in the Northeast. Of course it's all Yankee/Boston talk. Chong and I are like the only people who really talk about the Cubs often. By the way, my theory is that Mark Prior sets his rehab back from masturbating too furiously. Me and Czech just do enough Cubs talking/bitching for seven or eight people.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 And nobody talks about the 'Stros...except me...and uh...some people that don't ever say anything. Adam Everett is money, baby. 130 chances and no errors. Smells like Gold Gloves to me.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 He looks like the man child that works at a GameStop I frequent now and again. That guy can probably hit a little better, though.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Yeah, it's a good thing we've got Sluggin' Brad Ausmus to drive in runs for us. Adam Everett might be short, but at least he's taller than Juan Pierre. Actually, I just checked, and he is actually the same height as Juan Pierre...and 30 pounds lighter. Good Lord. Oh well, at least he's uh...better than Neifi. Guest Report post Posted May 7, 2006 I would talk about the Dodgers more, but other things have been occupying my time so I can't watch them. They can't hit HR's, that much I'm sure of.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 I would just like to note that the Chicago Cubs have an E# of 128, as of May 7th. Let the panic grow.

jwest27 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Ok, if the Mets trade for Barry Zito like ESPN seems to think they will, I will be forced to become a Mets fan, or at least be happy when they win and it's not against the Cardinals.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 I know I've harped on this before, but GOD DAMN was that Benson/Julio trade stupid. Benson is the Os 2nd best pitcher behind Bedard..and I can't imagine the sucktitutde that would be the Os bullpen with Julio still in there.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 There's a double no-hitter going on right now between the Angels and the Blue Jays. They're heading for the bottom of the 5th.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Os score a run on 4 straight walks with 2 outs but no hits. The greatness that is the Os offense.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 Contrast that with the Red Sox..they get the bases loaded and 2 outs and Varitek hits a Grandslam.
devo 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 5 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 4 BB, 5 K for Lima as his day is done. Pretty much what I expected. And this was a better option than letting Heilman or Oliver start why?
naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 5 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 4 BB, 5 K for Lima as his day is done. Pretty much what I expected. And this was a better option than letting Heilman or Oliver start why? One or two of those runs probably shouldn't have scored thanks to the missed call at home, but Oliver ended up having to pitch for Zambrano yesterday and Heilman is one of their better relievers. At this point, I think they may HAVE to put Heilman in the rotation until Bannister and/or Maine return since we're now two starters short.
devo 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2006 I suppose, but the coaching staff already knew that a starter was needed for the next day. I'm sure Fortunato, Bradford, Feliciano, and Wagner could have combined for 7 2/3 innings without stretching any of them that far.

I'm sure Fortunato, Bradford, Feliciano, and Wagner could have combined for 7 2/3 innings without stretching any of them that far. Perhaps, but that 14 inning game on Friday night killed our pen, and then Zambrano left them with having to get 23 outs less than 14 hours later. All things considered with # 4, 5 and the first replacement in the rotation all hurt right now, I'll gladly take 2 out of 3 this weekend, and an off day tomorrow to try and get things straightened out.
