Guest JustPassinBy Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Again I must know why people are excited about DX reforming? Because HHH is much more entertaining as a member of DX rather than being just a dominant "king of kings" heel. And Shawn Michaels is much more entertaining as a member of DX, rather than being just all around good Christian Shawn Michaels. Michaels and HHH are still big parts of Raw. So why not put them in programs that are entertaining and work to their strengths, rather than keep them in whatever they are doing right now? If Shawn, HHH are going be taking up TV time, you might as well have them do something that is entertaining. I'd rather watch HHH be the cocky, funny heel, rather than the serious badass.
Guest Timmer Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 I want to know how Shawn Michaels is going to rationalize being an obnoxious pervert on TV again. This time they will both be faces with him playing second fiddle to HHH. HHH will get to make all the perverted lines...
reign Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 If I had to guess this new DX will be more of a boring, buck the system of Vince McMahon then wearing christmas thongs to the ring...they might use a giant sausage though...
Darthtiki Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 As someone who all but missed the original incarnation of the Shawn/Hunter DX along with most of the DX Army period, I'm somewhat looking forward to it. If nothing else it will be a breath of fresh air to the stale Hunter character that I've been watching since 99.
Guest droptoehold Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 quick question.. what has ever been better or as good the second time around.
ChrisMWaters Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 quick question.. what has ever been better or as good the second time around. Do video games count or just in the wrestling world?

No, Triple H WAS much more entertaining as a member of DX. Shawn Michaels WAS much more entertaining as a member of DX. People who think they're going to get back together and everything will be like it was in 1997 are sorely mistaken. They are both drastically different people, especially Shawn. Watching them try to be "Degenerates" is like when you and your friends are hanging out and your dad comes in, trying to be "hip" by making pop culture references that went out of style five years ago, and saying sentences that include "for shizzle my nizzle".
NoCalMike Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 The problem is DX was basically a launching point for these guys. I mean HBK was the Star taking HHH under his wing. The group was effective because HBK was not only the funniest guy of the group, but he was also the best worker, so he backed up everything by having great wrestling matches. Now the dynamic would be all fucked up. You know Triple H would have to be the leader, or at least the one talking the most, and HBK would have to play second fiddle. Also, anyone else kind of having a problem that D-X came at a time when both men were younger and you could say they "defined" a generation, but now both men are in the mid-30's or older, and on the same roster with about twenty guys still in their 20's......I mean how lame is it that the old farts of the roster will be the ones making all the dick and fart jokes.

I'd say it's pretty bad, but if you put some younger talent as the DX, then you'd just have a ripoff. So I don't know. I don't know where WWE is going with this. If it does happen, I think it will fizzle out rather quickly. If they bring it back, they should bring it back for a PPV and that's it. Something to help it get more buys.
UZI Suicide Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Forget all that, the worst thing about it is, it will end with HHH turning on Shawn setting up HHH-HBK for the 100th time.

Dangerous A Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Actually, HHH is 37 or 38 and Shawn is 40. At least the young guys are getting all the cool characters and gimmicks, right? :: looks at Spirit Squad and cries ::
NoCalMike Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 I wouldn't mind a DX Reunion for a night.....but not as a long term program.
mfn Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 I wouldn't mind a DX Reunion for a night.....but not as a long term program. Yeah, I agree with that completely. Just to see them come down for a main event or something to the DX music, that would be amazing, but if they kept it going... I dont' know. It would be like the nWo...
Hawk 34 Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 quick question.. what has ever been better or as good the second time around. Do video games count or just in the wrestling world? Flair-Steamboat, Punk-Joe for starters.
mfn Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 quick question.. what has ever been better or as good the second time around. Do video games count or just in the wrestling world? Flair-Steamboat, Punk-Joe for starters. Awesome-Tanaka.

JvP II and 2/3 falls match completely took an already great first match to insanely higher levels.
Kahran Ramsus Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 quick question.. what has ever been better or as good the second time around. Do video games count or just in the wrestling world? Flair-Steamboat Okay. I admit. I liked their matches in 1994 too, but they still weren't as good as the matches in the 89 feud.

Especially the run they had on ECW on TNN in '99.
tominator89 Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 So, will there be a 3rd member of DX or no?
Kahran Ramsus Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 So, will there be a 3rd member of DX or no? They'll probably stick Ric Flair in there to make it even more of a farce.
daileyxplanet Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Jason Sensation can finally become an official member.
UZI Suicide Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 One good thing I could see coming from a DX reformation is after a few weeks of the HHH-HBK nostalgia, they add two young guys in to do an Evolution type of deal, where HHH and HBK *gasp* help get the young guys over. You can split them up by the two young guys taking on the cocky, young, rebellious persona that HHH and HBK once had, and claiming those two are now old and bald and gay.
Lil' Bitch Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 so basically, it'll be Evolution version 2.0 with the D-X name stapled to it. *groan
haws bah gawd Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Jason Sensation can finally become an official member. Jason Sensation was amazing. I just got to the building, but my nose got here 2 hours ago! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Karc Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 DX in 2006 will fail the same way the NWO failed in 2002. - It's a group of over the hill wrestlers trying to be cool again. Mid-life crisis, anyone? - Strong backstage power almost guarantee someone's getting buried.
Scroby Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 One good thing I could see coming from a DX reformation is after a few weeks of the HHH-HBK nostalgia, they add two young guys in to do an Evolution type of deal, where HHH and HBK *gasp* help get the young guys over. You can split them up by the two young guys taking on the cocky, young, rebellious persona that HHH and HBK once had, and claiming those two are now old and bald and gay. But here is the problem, Raw has no one on their roster who would fit in that DX area. Again if someone says Carlito, please forget it. If anyone goes into DX it'll be like what HHH had to do and change his entire gimmick around. Maybe the only one who would be best would be John Cena from a few years ago or Edge, but Edge being a member of the "new" DX would be silly.
mfn Posted May 11, 2006 Report Posted May 11, 2006 It better be a one night stand... or I'm going to be pissed. I don't want to go through weeks of the same, stale bullshit. Granted, I would mark out of I saw them reunite, but if it was made a long term program, I'd get sick of it rather quickly.
