EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2006 Rowand's catch was amazing, especially that he HELD ONTO THE F'N BALL. Definately check this one out in the highlights.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2006 What exactly happened with Matsui? Didn't get to see it, but the Yankees board is freaking out.
mike546 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2006 The Yankees have built their team around guys who are at the back ends of the career now for the past few years and it has yet to come back and bite them. I was merely stating that the injury bug is likely to hit them eventually, as they've just been postpoing the inevitable with the construction of their team the past few years. It's not so much a knock as it is an observation. I understand what your saying, but Matsui hasn't missed a MLB game in his career, and has some insane games played streak going including his days in Japan, so he really shouldn't be considered a "veteran" who breaks down. edit; Rolled his wrist over on a diving catch
naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2006 Hideki made a sliding dive for a ball, missed it and all of his weight was going forward while his glove hand stayed behind underneath him. As he was being taken off of the field, the trainer held his wrist firmly and Matsui wasn't even trying to move it. If it's not broken, I'd be stunned if he didn't at least tear tendons/ligaments just based on the way it was bent. Of course Trachsel gives up a bomb and Philly leads 1-0 when Wright missed a 3 run homer by a few inches thanks to the wind, and of course Rowand's 3 run saving catch. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 Just not a good day to be a gamer. I actually feel for Dontrelle. One of the few guys who shows his geniuine love for the game every outing. He's getting shelled right now; hard to say if he'll even make it through three.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 al, I think I got the "Stump the Fans" question, sent it in like 30 seconds after. What was the question again. Something about the Mets' record for runs allowed?
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 If this rain doesn't let up, Gavin Floyd could be three outs away from his first shutout. Here's a fun Mets/Phillies boxscore, http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B06110PHI1985.htm
devo 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 Of fucking course. The SECOND the game is official, the game is delayed, probably for good. I hate baseball's rain rules.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 All I can say is Aaron Fucking Rowand. If he drops that ball, the game is a push and he broke his nose for nothing.
devo 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 Give the man some credit. The guy risked injury for his ballclub and it may very well have been a game winning play.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 Why should I give a Phillies player credit? The next time he makes an out with RISP he'll get booed at home, just like we boo Beltran even though he busted up his face last year. It just sucks that the Mets had good chances to win all 3 games in the series, and will end up with only 1 victory. I don't see us winning either of the next two games either, so this was a big series.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 Uh. Utley pretty much did nothing with the bases loaded. The fans didn't care. They respect his talents and realize you can't do great things everytime. Philadelphia's a much smarter baseball town than you think. Despite a lot of knuckleheads that go overboard with their passion, as I've been guilty of sometimes.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 Anyone catch Sturtze mouthing "what the fuck?" when Torre came to take him out?
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 Wow, must suck to be David Ross right now. He alone just blew Bronson Arroyo's eight shutout innings.
EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 By the way, Joe Torre should be flogged on general principle for using three relievers this inning.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 Wow, must suck to be David Ross right now. He alone just blew Bronson Arroyo's eight shutout innings. How you think Kearns feels? He threw it perfectly and Ross just dropped the fucking ball. Because of that bone-head fuck up, they are going extra.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 For anyone that still thinks Jeter's a gold glover, I refer you to that Mirabelli hit. Half the shortstops in baseball would've fielded that cleanly.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 12, 2006 Getting back to the Reds game, I must question the sanity of Frank Robinson of bringing in Cordero in a tied game and letting him throw nearly 50 pitches.
