Denver now have a ton of money locked up between Nene, who can't stay healthy, Marcus Camby, who can't stay healthy, and Kenyon Martin, who can't stay healthy. Somehow i don't see that working out very well.

Add that into the max contract extension that Carmelo is getting and Denver will be in Salary Cap Hell for the forseeable future, pending them offloading Camby or Martin to some sucker.

Suns sign Eric Piatkowski. I personally like this pick up.

Tim Thomas signs with the Clips, and honestly, I am happy at the money that saves the Suns. They can sign some even cheaper talent in the summer league and some undrafted rookies.

And Maciej Lampe is back with the team in the summer league.

I am still wondering who did Casey Jacobson piss of that they haven't resigned him yet.

I bet you that Denver is on the phone right now with Isiah Thomas and the Knicks.

It's not looking good so far for the Pistons as it pertains to keeping Ben Wallace. Their initial offer was 4 yrs/$48 million, while the Bulls were said to be offering more, though no "official" offer was made. Wallace said the Pistons' offer was "disappointing."

"veteran leadership"

I don't really want Wallace either. 33+ you decline!

Wallace makes the Bulls immediate contenders for a championship. They're probably not getting any farther than they've gotten with their current front line. Unless you're counting on Greg Oden to fall into your laps courtesy of the Knicks, I take the chance.

I'm all for the move since it weakens both Detroit AND Chicago and as a Knicks fan I don't particularly care for either team.

For some reason I don't see Wallace meshing too well with Skiles and the Bulls, though. You'd have his two Finals appearances and a championship amidst a bunch of novices and a non-elite coach who seems to be a real prick. I just don't see Wallace-Skiles working out.

I'm torn, but if the Nuggets hadn't offered it off the bat, someone else would have with similar deals flying about the last few years and this free agent class being what it is. Outside of Wallace and Przybilla, what else is there, really?

He'll surely be a starter once Martin (and/or Camby?) are out. I'm just concerned about his health, but no more than with Martin and he's less of a headache. I don't think they could've ousted Martin, especially if they only get bits and pieces back and let Nene go. Though now we pretty much have to get rid of one or the other and an all star calibre Camby who's been relatively healthy the past couple years would probably be worth more than Kenyon.

Oh, and the Nuggets still have half a team to fill, including possibly dealing with Evans and Francisco Elson... and hopefully, finally picking up another legit shooter to take pressure off Anthony.

Ben Wallace is reported to be visiting New Orleans.

With his disappointment at what the Pistons will be offering him, a move to either Chicago or New Orleans is looking more and more feasable.

If this happens, I'll be EXTREMELY happy. The Hornets need a true big-man to block shots and control the boards, which is Wallace's MO.

That would mean PG, C, SF, and PF would be set.

They'd need to firm up an SG at that point, which could mean moving a PG over there (Jackson or a re-signed Speedy Claxon) or signing Bonzi Wells if they've got enough left over.

This is all pie-in-the-sky thinking, but it would make for one hell of a lineup being put around the young core of David West and Chris Paul.

I hope that is some sort of sing and trade with the bulls for Nene ,although, I'd rather get Wilcox

Piatkowski is unfortunately done I think. He had a brutal 2 years in Chicago.

I don't want Wallace. I don't know why Chicago is going after him. They have a young team, why put a 32 year old guy there?
Yeah, I was hoping they would grab Wilcox or Nene, but it looks like its gonna be Wallace.

This is why I could never be an NBA GM. I'd work really hard to get the team under the cap and then I'd get depressed when I realized that I would have to spend $13 mil on Ben Wallace or $10 mil on Nene freakin Hilario.

BTW, the Bulls should not spend that money on Ben Wallace unless they have a deal in place for Chandler. They do not need another post player with no offensive game, especially one 10 years older than every other guy on the team.

Speedy Claxton will sign with the Hawks, 4 yrs/$25 million.

I'd be happy to see Wallace go to the Hornets, too, for obvious reasons.

Honestly I think this a good signing for the Hornets. Peja is a good addition to Chris Paul.

They are a playoff team next year IMO.

They were close to being a playoff team(a playoff team that would've gotten swept in the first round but a playoff team nonetheless) this year so I hope they make it next season because it'll be good to go to the playoffs in OKC. The atmosphere would be crazy.

That sounds like those people on the radio in NO.

I was listening to the radio today and one local sportswriter who has gotten to know the owner and team really really well is convinced they will stay here or do everything possible to stay here. He thinks it'll come out in December or January that the city will just not be ready to support the team and they'll have more priorities than building a practice facility and making sure the team is accomodated.

I've heard it'll take around 5 years to get the city even close to being decent.

No. As a matter of fact, since the Harrington rumor, I haven't heard a thing.

That wouldn't surprise me if it were real.

I don't think they'd trade Odom right now. Terrible timing. However, that is good return even if I don't like Steve Francis.

Wow, giving up Channing Frye for Aaron McKie?

I don't think it's going to happen, but you forgot Lamar Odom there. I know, I know, you want to make a point of the Knicks making bad trades, whatever.

Exactly. There are so many more immediate concerns in New Orleans, and people are raising a stink about a mediocre NBA team they had (and subsidized) for three years. How about addressing the shit that matters more than pro basketball?

BREAKING NEWS

Source: Big Ben Heading To Bulls

The biggest free-agent prize of the NBA offseason appears to be off the market. Ben Wallace has informed the Pistons he will sign with the Bulls, Insider Chad Ford reports. The deal is believed to be $52M for four years.

From ESPN.com:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A league source told ESPN.com Monday night that Wallace has told the Pistons he has accepted an offer from the Chicago Bulls.

While exact details are unavailable, the offer is thought to be a four-year, $52 million dollar deal.

A deal can't become official until July 12, when the salary cap is set for the 2006-07 season and exact contract values can be computed.

The move will come as a shock to Pistons fans who thought that chances Wallace would bolt from Detroit were slim to none.

The Pistons came out of the gate Saturday offering Wallace a whopping four-year, $48 million dollar deal, but they told the four-time defensive player of the year that it was their final offer.

The signing clearly upgrades' the Bulls front court, albeit at an exorbiant price. The Bulls will have to use roughly $13.5 million of their projected $16.7 million in cap space to secure Wallace.

However, Wallace adds the veteran toughness and defensive presence the Bulls felt they lacked up front.

Look for the Bulls to now explore trade scenarios involving Tyson Chandler.

One potential opportunity, according to sources, is New Orleans, which is mulling a Chandler-for-P. J. Brown swap. Brown is in the last year of his contract, which would give the Bulls even more cap relief next season.

The Bulls also have explored Chandler trade scenarios with the Hawks (via an Al Harrington sign-and-trade) and the Warriors.

The move puts the Pistons in a difficult position.

They loss Wallace for nothing and don't have anything more than the $5.1 million mid-level exception to offer to potential replacements.

There are a few starting center-caliber free agents out there, such as Joel Przybilla and Nazr Mohammed, but none who can give the Pistons what Wallace did.

Instead, the Pistons may opt to beef up their backcourt and to move to a more up-tempo style with Rasheed Wallace at five and Antonio McDyess at the four.

Chad Ford covers the NBA for ESPN Insider

GOD, I hope they can pull off that deal for Chandler/ P.J. Brown. That gives them another 10-12 million in cap space next year!!

I really wanted Wilcox, or Nene instead, but I think this signing makes the Bulls one of the top 4 teams in the East
