Downhome 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 Sooooo, now they are ripping off a recent/current storyline off of The Sopranos? My God. Are they going to have this Vito run off to a small town somewhere, and then "treat" us with video packages on location? Here comes the Johnny Cakes... Slickster 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 Since TGK is coming up later tonight, I'd like to talk about him for a minute. This is how I would have booked The Great Khali's introduction. 1) April 7 edition of SmackDown!: Daivari comes out alone and talks up "The Great Khali," implying that it he's talking about himself. Make statements about how Khali has beaten Bengal tigers, KO'd elephants, cured cancer, etc. 2) April 14 and 21 editions of SmackDown!: Daivari continues to cut promos about the awesomeness of Khali. Daivari is a heat machine, so he'll get booed by fans and shushed by Cole/Tazz. It's implied Daivari is talking about himself. 3) April 28: Daivari's diatribe is interrupted by Paul Burchill, who (in pirate talk) challenges The Great Khali to a match, shocking Daivari. 4) May 5: Daivari comes out after a Burchill victory to show him a video on the tron. The video shows Daivari supposedly flying to India to talk with Khali. We see Khali's shadow as Daivari tells him about the challenge and hands the contract up to him. Khali's ginormous arm comes into the frame as he takes the contract and signs it. Announcers are unsure if it's a camera trick or a guy on a stepladder. 5) May 14 (Judgment Day): Paul Burchill enters first, looking a bit anxious. Khali's music hits and out comes a goddamn menagerie. I'm talking tigers and elephants, with one pullung a cart with Khali standing in it. Khali's dressed like The Sultan, only in powder blue. Also, he needs to wear a mask so we don't know he was in that Adam Sandler movie. Anyway, Paul Burchill gets his ass handed to him for 4 minutes before losing via pinfall. Then, Khali beats the shit out of Burchill for 4 minutes after the bell, putting Burchill through a table, hitting him with the ring steps, etc. Burchill bleeds profusely and does a stretcher job. INSTANT main eventer.

haVoc 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 JBL should get the title now. There's no way for Rey to recover from this booking.

Downhome 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 It wouldn't surprise me if they are doing this just to have Rey beat JBL, then have Rey say that even though all of those guys that JBL made him take on beat him JBL himself couldn't get the job done. If JBL does win, how can they even make a match out of it? Mark Henry and Khali have totally squashed Rey, pretty much cleanly, and Kane will more than likely do the same thing on the next SD. Rey is a total bitch, both on screen and behind the scenes. He didn't have the balls to speak out on the Eddie shit and just went along with whatever they wanted, and now his character is a total twat jobber. Heck, Rey has been treated like shit all year, show after show. The only two high spots for the guy have been the Rumble and WM win, and both of those are pointless high spots by this point. haVoc 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 Kane should destroy Rey next week because he has 619 on his pants. Then they can simply explain Kane went after Rey because screwed up the date.
Downhome 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 I know it's being picky, but I'll laugh if they do have Kane on SD next week to squash Rey all the while saying that it's the 19th, when in fact it was only the 16th when Kane would be at the taping. Or they could say that Kane got the 6 and 9 mixed up.

Just John 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 Ok, it's official. Rey's title run is the worst ever. Even if Jericho never won clean, at least he won. He even went over Rock and Austin twice. Rey has a losing record as champion (1-2-1, likely to finish 1-4-1). In kayfabe, it makes absolutely no sense for him to be champion. He has lost twice cleanly, most recently in a total squash. Burchill at least got some kicks in, Rey got absolutely nothing on Khali. Can we re-cap his championship journey? - Wins Rumble - Gets embarrassed by Orton, loses to him twice - Gets a pity spot in the ME at WM thanks to Long - Unlimited Eddie references in build up - Wins title in somewhat fluke-ish fashion, to a chorus of boos - Retains vs. Orton, despite getting his ass kicked 90% of the match - NC with Angle as Henry beats them both up - Clean loss to Henry, had to be saved BY THE GUY HE'S FEUDING WITH from death - Gets squashed by Khali, humiliated again by JBL in hometown - (Predcition) Gets squashed by Kane on May 19th - (Prediction) Mercifully loses the title to JBL at JD How can that not be the worst title reign to date? It's amazing how WWE writers can fuck up the simplest storylines. Disappointing, yet unsurprising. Poor Rey.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 I can't help but think they have to have Rey retain at the PPV. How else can any of this be justified? Hell, how can it be justified anyway? Further, where in the hell can you really go with JBL as champ? JBL himself would just be another lame duck until Batista gets back to stomp him. I say keep the belt on Rey for now, pull a swerve and have him retain at JD. Then have him drop it to Booker and take time off, then do the Booker/Batista feud you know they are going to do now. Honestly, even after the reveal on WWE.com and the interviews they did with both with Dave and Booker, I still wasn't convinced they'd do anything with it. But the fact that Cole specifically mentioned the black eye on the latter, and the acual fight at the set has me convinced they'll make a program out of it. death_by_burrito 0 Report post Posted May 13, 2006 I just watched it and I agree, a very good match between the two. Too bad SD! writers can't pull their heads out their asses to put something together for these two.
