TWiB #7: 5/15 - 5/21

It figures. Andy Phillips gets the game winner. Way to go Willie and Wagner. It's always exciting to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Glavine will probably get shelled tomorrow and then we'll lose at least 2 out of 3 to the Phillies with Trachsel and the jabronies starting.

Yeah, and you have talented players. They may not speak English, but hey, at least they're good.

Hey, look at the bright side. You guys scored a run today.

It's better to get shutout than lose a 4 run lead in the 9th to your hometown rivals, and lose your 3rd straight game that your ace started because Wagner couldn't finish it yet again. The Mets should have won this shit an hour ago, taken the series and had momentum. Now we're right back in the situation to lose 2 out of 3 for the 4th straight series.

You'd think you could win a game where the other team makes 4 errors, and your ace gives you 7 shutout innings. But not when Willie Randolph is the manager. He won't bring Wagner in in a tie game on the road because it's not a save situation, but why not toss him out there in a 4 run game at home when he had plenty of options? It's obviously because he was afraid of using Julio, but instead of leaving well enough alone we get Julio pitching the endgame because he killed the bullpen for no reason. On top of that, now we can't use Wagner tomorrow even in a save situation because he threw 30+ pitches. It's games like these that make me realize how much it sucks to be a fan of a team that just never gets it done because it's run by a bunch of morons. It's been about 20 years since we had a good manager, and although this is the best team we've had in forever I'm confident Willie's moves will take our 92+ win potential and end us up at about 86, or 2 games short of the wild card.

We need more fans of different teams here... so, we can have bitching posts for all 30 MLB teams.

We're pretty close to it. I don't think we have any Rockies or Devil Rays fans. We used to have a Royals fan in Rob E Dangerously but don't think he posts here anymore. Of course there are a lot who are fans of certain teams that don't post regularly in the baseball threads.

Bring Back Charlie Ward was a D-Rays fan. Too bad he's gone. :(

I'm a reds fan, but they aren't very good so is kind of pointless to get too upset. They've had a decent start but they're already falling fast, it's just a repeat of the last couple of years.

"Ha...Barrett's punch was weak."

"You only missed a sucker punch. A weak one, at that. Clean, but weak."

"You know it's gonna be a long season for the Cubbies when their best hit of the game is Michael Barrett punching AJ Pierzynski like a little girl."

Again punching A.J. Pierzynski is defensible under any circumstance.

Play at he plate? Punch him in the face.

Force out at 2nd? Punch him in the face.

Strikes out swining? Punch him in the face.

Scratching his balls? Punch him in the face.

Watching t.v. at home? Punch him in the face.

Michael Barrett should not be suspended. Michael Barret is an American hero.

Yeah, it was a clean hit.

Yes, it was weak. A hit like that should drop somebody, for a second at least.

Nice job by the Yanks today. Now each closer has blown a save.

Jimmy Rollins' error leads to the Red Sox opening up the game in the 6th, thanks largely to Josh Beckett's RBI and run scored.

I can't believe I saw Josh Beckett hit a HR. That's the first Sox pitcher to go deep since 1972 I believe. Hell, I'd rather catch that ball than 714 from Bonds, because you ain't gonna see Josh do that again for a while.

No idea how the Yankees won the game today, but i'll take it. Mets dominated the game and one man ruined it all. Good job Willie Ran..eh..he's not a bad manager man. Who expected Wagner to blow this game anwyay?
