Kinetic 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2008 This is impossible: Kinks- "Waterloo Sunset" Soft Boys- "I Wanna Destroy You" Stooges- "Search and Destroy" Bob Dylan- "Like a Rolling Stone" Elvis Costello- "Radio Radio" XTC- "Making Plans for Nigel" Neil Young- "Pocahontas" Buzzcocks- "Ever Fallen In Love" Zombies- "This Will Be Our Year" Replacements- "I Will Dare"
Kinetic 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2008 Immediately upon making that list, I can say that I'll always like those songs, but only the first one will be a permanent fixture on all subsequent lists. I already regret a couple of things. I'd replace something with "Station to Station."
Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2008 Funnily enough, "Crimson and Clover" was the most likely of my list to actually end up on a permanent all time favorites list, were I ever to make one. Dopesmoker seems unfair, though...
Smartly Pretty 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2008 I agree with Milky on the "impossible task" front but I'll give it a shot. 1.Climbing - Meat Puppets 2.What Katie Did - The Libertines 3.Debaser - Pixies 4.Naomi - Neutral Milk Hotel 5.Is This It - The Strokes 6.Trigger Cut/Wounded Kite at :17 - Pavement 7.Y-Control - Yeah Yeah Yeahs 8.Wasted and Ready - Radish (though I can't really tell the difference when Ben Kweller does it himself) 9.Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus 10.Government Center - Modern Lovers This list is extremely tentative. Climbing, What Katie Did, Debaser and Is This It are all still top 10 favorites. Everything else probably drops, except for MAYBE Trigger Cut, but I think I like Filmore Jive better. History Lesson Part II by Minutemen belongs on that list for sure, and Pop Songs Your New Boyfriend's Too Stupid To Know About by Tullycraft probably lands in the top 10 as well. Interesting how no one is ever really satisfied with lists like these.

Nighthawk 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2008 I've loved it since the first time I heard it (downloaded as a mislabeled Velvet Underground song). And, did you know Dee Dee Ramone did a fairly straightforward cover of "Cathy's Clown"? Dee Dee was so awesome... definitely one of my favorite figures in music and I should have mentioned him in the favorite musicians thread.
