naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 LoDuca bobbling that perfect strike from Endy just cost the Mets this game, as they now trail 6-2 Top 5 when he should have gotten out of the inning with the score tied at 2. A sweep is now likely since I have no confidence in Gonzalez or Soler.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 Aaron Hill hit into a predictable DP with the bases loaded and one out. I think he's hitting about .145 since his fantastic start last season. Jays are leading 2-1 after 6, but it should be more comfortable than that. They better not waste this start by Halladay, he's been terrific.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 A-Rod's put the game out of reach with a 3-run homer in the 7th. But they were already up 3 anyway, so it wasn't really that clutch.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 He should have done it in the 1st, 3rd, and 5th. I do question why Torre took Wright out so soon. He only had 70-something pitches and was getting outs. I also question why Wake was left in too long when it was obvious that he was wavering.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 Abreu just showed some severe vaginitis by not trying to catch a ball that could have just let the Mets back into the game. I'm not saying he had to be Aaron Rowand and try to headbutt the wall, but at least allow yourself to get within a few feet of it before pulling up.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 Manny puts the game back INTO reach with a 3-run HR of his own. How clutch.

naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 Manny puts the game back INTO reach with a 3-run HR of his own. How clutch. And he also gives A-Rod the "game winning" hit should Boston not score again.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 Damn, Halladay's getting pulled after 8 2/3. I was expecting him to take the league lead in complete games tonight. Still, a 6-hitter over 8 2/3 is more than acceptable. I'd be talking about maybe getting the first sweep of the season tomorrow, were it not for Josh Towers getting the start. KingPK 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 Why Doug Mirabelli is still in the game when Wake is gone I'll never know. At least Varitek makes contact. Well......sometimes anyway.

Guest Report post Posted May 24, 2006 My eyes must be deceiving me, because I see that David Bell has 4 RBI's. Surely those two things can't go together!
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 Things are not good in Chicago...at all. Edit: I had momentarily forgotten that there are two teams that play in Chicago. I leave it up to the reader to determine which team just blew a lead to the AAA Marlins in the 9th.
devo 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 My eyes must be deceiving me, because I see that David Bell has 4 RBI's. Surely those two things can't go together! You're right, Bell doesn't have four RBI on the night. He has five.
Guest Report post Posted May 24, 2006 So, my eyes were deceiving me after all. The Dodgers win tonight, they could take a half game lead of the division.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 Yankees really don't have any solid options to lead up to Rivera this year, do they? Yankees win, but Rivera faced Willie "Mays Hayes from the beginning of Major League II (but without the power), Alex "Singles" Cora, Jason "First Pitch" Varitek and Dustin "No, I'm Not Related to Jay, But I Hit Like Him" Mohr in the 9th. Bravo. (Hey, if mike can make excuses, so can I).

therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 Ya know, I was wiling to cut Manuel some slack during the big winning streak because he finally criticized some of the players... Now....I hope to God that he gets canned. He should write a book on misusing relievers. Shame too, because Bell's performance tonight is being wasted... Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 I guess it's a good thing I left in the middle of the game when it was 4-1. I'd probably be lining my living room with gasoline had I actually seen the happenings in the ninth. Maybe the team heard Dusty's new contract is in place and the team's just waiting for the right moment to announce it and is doing what they can to make sure such a moment never pops up. Rollins tagged him while he was on the bag, let go when he overslid, and Beltran got back in before Rollins reapplied the tag. There were only 4 camera shots that showed he was safe. devo 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 Floyd's drawn two intentional walks tonight. I'd like to say that it's respect for his abilities that caused the walks, but it's much more likely that Manuel realizes just how badly Matsui sucks.

naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2006 Comcast Philly's showed replays that showed Beltran was out. I don't know what SNY is showing. The truth. I'd be all over Beltran's dumb ass if he was out. It was a stupid move, but he got back in in time. It doesn't matter since the Mets didn't get it done in the rest of the inning.
