Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 Albert just hit #25, a three-run shot, to put the Astros up 3-1 in the 7th. Garner lifted Oswalt after six and 91 pitches. I'm not sure why, though. He looked like he could've gone another inning and he was pinch-hit for to lead off the 7th, so it wasn't as if the Astros had a RISP and Oswalt due. And as wild as Lidge has been, I'm not sure why Garner wouldn't bring him in with two outs in the seventh, Pujols due and the game certainly hanging in the balance. Ah, that's right. And I didn't see the Callison family in attendence. Who's up next on the list for Fat Albert? He had command issues last year, but it's killing him this season. Little league defense behind him didn't help him in that five-run, 40-pitch first inning. There's a reason the Marlins trotted him out as one of the faces of the team in the preseason but he was almost in danger of getting demoted. I have very high hopes for him. Because the AL West is terrible and no one could find anyone that was actually worthy of a playoff spot. When MLB came up with this stupid 5/4/4, 5/6/5 plan, you'd think they could have at least put likely contenders in the four-team division. Really, you'd think the East would have been a slam-dunk with New York and Boston. It probably wouldn't have made a huge difference in the long run, but at least there wouldn't be a systemic bias toward bad teams from shitty markets. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 I just don't like the idea that there are an uneven number of teams by league, and that some teams have to beat five teams to win a division while others only have to beat three. Personally, I think they shouldn't have expanded to 30 teams until they had a short-term (maybe five-year) plan to make it 32, so that they could even things out. Instead they mention Eude Brito and Matt White as possibilities. Matt White is not even on the 40 man roster and is not going to get a spot for a spot start. I have to think Franklin's a candidate for that start unless they call up Brito. Brian Sanches meanwhile is called up to fill in the bullpen. Congrats to him.
