iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 By the way, Avery Johnson has balls like grapefruits. From the story: Johnson opened his show with a Cuban-like rant against the way the league has handled cases like this, later saying there is "no rebuttal, no trial and jury, just a judge." "I've been holding my tongue all year about the foolishness, just the foolishness that goes on there," said Johnson, who was voted the NBA coach of the year in his first full season. "They're so inconsistent. I'm just embarrassed to have to deal with some of the things I have to deal with. ... We are in a position where we have no authority and we're always reminded of that -- we're just coaches." Asked whether he feared the Mavericks are being targeted because of how vocal Cuban is with barbs toward the league, Johnson said, "I would sure hope not." "If there is some truth to that, I hope certain people can't even look themselves in the mirror because that's a disgrace," he said.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 It's not like it wasn't expected. Stackhouse did commit a hard foul, and if the other guys like Terry was suspended for that kind of stuff, Stackhouse was going to be too. It still pisses me off though. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 Terry punched someone in the balls. I'd like to argue that, but I can't really. Stackhouse made a play on the ball and accidentally took Shaq down. This is the most ticky-tack suspension I've seen yet, and they did it in the FINALS. Absolutely fucking ridiculous. You don't make a statement by suspending a star player in the most important series of the year. There's a reason that every other sport has an appeals process for suspensions. People like Stu Jackson and Dick Bavetta basically think they can make themselves famous by making dickish grandstanding moves that alter the course of series. Guest NYankees Report post Posted June 17, 2006 I just saw the foul and I cant believe that Stackhouse got suspended for one game. I am suprised that people are actually complaining about the NBA, Stern and Stu Jackson. Do people forget that the NBA most of the Knicks team and cost them the playoffs back in 1997 for standing at the half court line to watch a fight between Charlie Ward and PJ Brown? If Patrick Ewing can get suspended half way across the court during a fight anybody can get suspended.
Just John 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 I'll agree that Stack getting suspended is BS. That was a flagrant foul, but nothing more. Should've been one shot and the ball. That's it. So that's how many piss-poor games officiated by Dick Bavetta this post-season? SA/DAL 7, DET/MIA 2, and now DAL/MIA 4. However, the Mavs don't have much of an excuse if they lose the next game. If you're team that prides yourself on team play and depth, losing a bench guy isn't something that should bother you. I still think the Mavs win.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 The NBA wants Dwayne Wade to have a ring. You can just tell. The dude drives to the basket and if you look at him funny then it's a flagrant.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 Wouldn't surprise me, even though I'm not much for conspiracy theories, but I can see NBA trying to give one of the "new gen" stars a ring to really heat up the competition.
Guest Report post Posted June 17, 2006 Stackhouse deserved his suspension, if only because he knew that Shaq could have been really hurt falling like that. If you guys really think he was going for the ball, you're out of it. He's going to reach all the way across Shaq's body to make a block? Please.

You know how often I see a hard foul like Stackhouse in the NBA???? All the time!!!!! I guess the NBA should be suspending 1-2 people per game because that is how often there is a hard foul like that. Stackhouse's foul was no worse than 1000 of fouls that were called all season. yet he is the one who gets suspended in the NBA Finals.
Guest Report post Posted June 17, 2006 Prior instances in these playoffs tell me that he should have been suspended. I'm sorry, that wasn't just a hard foul. His use of hands completely aside, he threw his body into Shaq. If Shaq falls like that, it's more than a hard foul. I'll say this, if it wouldn't have happened to someone as big as Shaq, Stackhouse would be playing in Game 5. You have to take into account the possible injury that could have happened to someone of his size.
The Robfather 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 The league wants Shaq to get another ring--- Kobe/Shaq feud hype Also, Wade--- new gen hype The Mavs have no one to blame but themselves. They choked away game 3. They are in a dog fight now.

If he'd hit someone like Wade, J-Will, Payton or Posey in the same manner they would have gone down harder than when Kobe took a lariat from Bell. Is it a tough suspension? Yes. Is it ridiculous based on precedent this postseason? Not at all. If you disagree with that, imagine if the roles were reversed and Shaq had let loose on Stack, Jerry's face would have been Roethlisbergered and Shaq would have sat out the game too, but Jerry would be in the hospital. Ripper 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 All of Shaqs fouls are like that. That was a Shaq foul. Shaq's fouls appear to be lazy but when you look at them, he just hammers a guy across his chest and face with his arms. Stackhouse's foul was not that bad. Still doesn't outdo the Luke Walton Lariat in round one that didn't get a suspension. Boris Diaw and Dirk Nowinski did the same thing to each other in Game 6 of the Suns/Mavs series within in 3 minutes of each other. That was a hard foul. Nothing more and nothing less. What I personally find desturbing is the "Miami getting physical and roughing Dallas up" which basically every sports writer is admitting too right now, yet Dallas still shoots over 10 less freethrows than the Heat. The heat are visably being the more physical team yet that are calling it tighter on the Mavs. Wierd. Still...Mavs in
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2006 Ok I don't know if there is actually a conspiracy but ESPN Radio just had a whole segment on their show where they did everything possible to debunk the theory of a conspiracy and everything possible to say there was no agenda by the NBA. I think the only ones guilty of furthering an agenda are ESPN and they should re-evaluate themselves.
