vivalaultra Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 But ya gotta admit Sampson's pitching a Hell of a game. He's the NEXT Brandon Backe. Hopefully with better health. Now we hope the BP doesn't blow it. I give it 50/50 odds right now. One down, one to go. I hate to state the obvious, but Wheeler and Lidge have fallen off a bit. It can't be a good thing when your most reliable bullpen pitchers are Russ Springer and Dave Borkowski.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 7, 2006 Author Report Posted June 7, 2006 Round 42, and still no Maier or Almonte. And some guys have gone on the basis that their dad's a scout.
Bruiser Chong Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 Shutout by the god damn Astros. One run in two games. Tremendous. Maybe they can put Zambrano into the cleanup spot tomorrow.
vivalaultra Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 Phil Garner, I think we found a keeper. And Lidge actually had a 123 inning...and didn't strike anybody out. Good win today, and a Hell of a game.
Bruiser Chong Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 I wouldn't put too much stock into today's outing. Cubs were impatient as ever. I'd wager five days from now, we'll be talking about him getting rocked.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 7, 2006 Author Report Posted June 7, 2006 Ryan Howard just hit a BOMB, clearing the batters' eye in Arizona 413 feet from home plate.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 7, 2006 Author Report Posted June 7, 2006 The draft is now over and after 1,502 picks, neither Danny Almonte or Jeffrey Maier were chosen. Both are now free agents, and I think it's almost certain that one or both shows up in an independant league in the near future.
Failed Bridge Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 I'm surprised the Yankees didn't draft Maier. I mean, he already helped them get to one WS so surely he could help them now.
Guest Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 I have a buddy who was likely to be drafted. No dice, so he'll just go to Cal State Fullerton.
Failed Bridge Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 I wanna sign Alfdogg up for the NBA draft just to see what happens but it costs $30 to enter last I checked and Alf aint worth $30.
Hawk 34 Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Cardinal fans are probably crying right now praying for Albert to heal fast.
Bruiser Chong Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Yeah, it'd been ages since they scored until this sixth-inning outburst. Albert goes down and NOW ESPN is talking about the holes in the team. Oh, and Joe Crede just cost the Sawx the lead by making a double-error. I wonder what Hawk's response to that was, since he's always on his jock.
Guest Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Odalis Perez just killed any trade value that he had.
naiwf Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Grandpa Julio is starring in today's game with a 2 run single and then scoring all the way from 1st on a double. This guy is my HERO! [/Joe Rogan fellating Randy Couture] The Mets have scored 4 runs with 2 outs and one of them was on a bullshit strike call. Perez is getting booed like Braden Looper at Shea
treble Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Jays get a nice assist from Melvin Mora there. Aaron Hill made a nice catch in shallow left for the 2nd out in the 9th with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Orioles down 2. For some reason, Mora decides to go home and is out at the plate. Thanks a lot!
Bruiser Chong Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Ha, so much for the Mets cushy lead. Furcal's a one-man gang tonight.
naiwf Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 The Mets continue to get beat by the long ball by the unlikeliest guys imaginable. Glavine blows a 4 run lead TWICE within 1.2 innings. Ridiculous.
Bruiser Chong Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 In all fairness, Furcal's proven over the years he's got the means to go yard often for such a speedy guy.
naiwf Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 He had 2 HR in 236 AB going into tonight. Now he's got 4 in 238. One bomb is forgivable, but not two ESPECIALLY when Glavine had 4 run leads in both innings.
Failed Bridge Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Odalis Perez just killed any trade value that he had. Jim Tracy's managerial skills helped that out some. I wouldn't mind seeing the Red Sox trade for him so long as he didn't take much to aquire and he could also be sent down to Pawtucket. Edit: I was thinking of Oliver Perez who also had a shitty performance and has been rumored to be available.
EVIL~! alkeiper Posted June 8, 2006 Author Report Posted June 8, 2006 He had 2 HR in 236 AB going into tonight. Now he's got 4 in 238. One bomb is forgivable, but not two ESPECIALLY when Glavine had 4 run leads in both innings. That's just this year though. Furcal's hit double digit home runs the last three years, and in fact he hit two in a game twice last season.
Vern Gagne Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Another two hits for Joe Mauer. He's the only thing worth watching when Santana isn't pitching.
Bruiser Chong Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Something's up with Oliver Perez. I remember him being so dominate in 2004, but since then, his command has been awful, his strikeouts have decreased and he's getting shelled regularly.
vivalaultra Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Oliver Perez is weird. He throws no two consecutive pitches with the same motion. I think that's his problem. Hey, the Bucs drafted my boy Brad Lincoln, who, by most accounts, is ML ready (he's at least as good, if not better, than the Pirates rotation); perhaps they could send Perez down and call up Lincoln. Perez does have an option, and I think it would be neat to see somebody that I know indirectly pitching in the big leagues...besides Ryan Wagner.
naiwf Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 He had 2 HR in 236 AB going into tonight. Now he's got 4 in 238. One bomb is forgivable, but not two ESPECIALLY when Glavine had 4 run leads in both innings. That's just this year though. Furcal's hit double digit home runs the last three years, and in fact he hit two in a game twice last season. Entering tonight's game Furcal had 59 HRs in 3494 AB, or 1 every 59.2 AB. 2 in a single game is basically a month's worth of work for him. I guess we did the next 20-25 opponents of the Dodgers a favor by having him use up his monthly power stroke. I'm just tired of the Mets getting beat/hammered by guys that don't bat 2-5.
naiwf Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 Nomar just relapsed to his days as a Cub getting gunned down at second by a Milledge LASER from deep left with his team down by 3 in the 8th. The kid is a 5 tool player who just needs some plate discipline. I'm glad we didn't trade him. Glavine ultimately gets # 284 Randy Johnson style aka despite allowing 3 HR and 6 ER in 5.1 IP.
KingPK Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 So I checked the weather and we're in for YET ANOTHER multi-day rainstorm until Saturday. So if tomorrow's game gets called as well, does that mean we're gonna have a 7-game Sox/Yanks series over four days in August? Fun.
Bruiser Chong Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 The Twins tied it up at nine with a slam in the 8th, but lose in extras thanks to a Carl Everett walkoff.
Kismet Posted June 8, 2006 Report Posted June 8, 2006 The Tigers continue the freefall back to reality, losing another one to an upper tier team(Cintron got them again), as well as losing outfielder Monroe to injury last night. At least they are being competitive in most of these games. No complaints here, as they are still far ahead of where they have any right to be. And if all else fails, they have a four game set with Tampa Bay coming up. Maybe they can be Detroits' slumpbuster.
