Star Ocean 3

Last Comic Standing?

Recommended Posts

I see from the heckling Roz belongs to the school of thought that a line isn't funny unless you put "bitch" at the end of it. She's awful and needs to go. Chris Porter vs. Blue was the best pairing for, but I thought Dwyre had the line of the night saying he's funnier than Ant.

Roz doesn't make me laugh.

"blah blah blah BITCH!"...I dunno, that's didn't do it for me.

Chris and Josh were a great pairing. Those were the only two that had me laughing out loud...other than Bill's crack about Gabe's mom giving birth.

Why are they eliminating house members two at a time? There's only going to be two more episodes on the boat before the big showdown.

Put me firmly in the camp that can't stand Roz.

I also thought Kristin did the best job on stage. She was doing a better job heckling on stage than the heckler was from the audience.

Looks like they're going for a short season, which might not be a bad idea seeing how they botched season 3 so badly.

I really don't like too many of the people that made the house this season. They left out some good people for unfunnies like Stella and Roz

The problem, really, is that they're trying to balance "reality show" with "comedy competition so the producers have a lot of say as to who gets to go to the, er, steamship.

The ironic part is that so far there hasn't been a whole lot of "reality show" to the show. Although I'm not holding my breath that this trend will continue...

ADAM CAROLLA IN PRIME TIME

YEA

Adam screwed over Kristen with that challenge.

And isn't Rachel Perry a part of his show?

Four-Way Dance - I think it was pretty obvious that Joey was dead meat. Chris did the right thing by pulling out his "best" material, but I still thought Michelle was funniest.

Next week, Gabriel gets roasted a la Jay London. And presumably gets immunity.

Rachel Perry is gone, but for some reason I don't think Adam took that bit entirely seriously.

And Porter's set was awful. I really hope drugs and condoms is the best he's got. I like Bil but he's been funnier in the confessionals than onstage in this show.

I liked Porter's set at the end.

Bill I usually like, but I didn't think he was good at all and Gay screamed way too much for my tastes. I wanted Bill to stay over Michelle, but from what they showed, she was a lot better last night.

There were three no-doubt things from last night's show:

1. Carolla wasn't exactly thrilled to be doing that bit.

2. Kristen easily deserved immunity.

3. Chris and Michelle nailed the head-to-head(-to-head-to-head). I called it. My wife even called it.

Right now, I'm rooting for Chris and Kristen. I wouldn't be unhappy with Gabriel either. I would break things if Roz won.

If Roz wins I'm never watching this again. I can see any of Chris, Gabe, or Josh (if he gets some diverse material, can't play the CP card forever) winning. I also like Kristin, she did get screwed by Adam on the immunity.

Well, Kristin's out. Thankfully, so is Rebecca. Biggest no-talent on the show. And Gabe broke the no-outside-contact rules, so he's gone too. That sucks.

Ty had a good set tonight -- drunk Superman's always a good source of material.

I know everyone ragged on Jay Mohr for trying to be too funny and put the focus on himself when he was host, but Anthony Clark has just gone way too far in the other direction. He should be starring in a live-action version of Pinocchio -- he's that wooden.

I didn't like Kristen, I thought Rebecca was cute but didn't get the whole 'stomp and kick around in my cowboy boots' thing, Ty probably knew he was staying before he even did his set.

Phyllis Diller (don't remember her last name) has the worst laugh..well it's really a honk. And how about that surprise cameo by Jim Norton! :)

FiguredI'd bump this back up, as they're now at the 'live shows' portion of the show.

What I thought was, the forerunner of the competition (Chris Porter)...sounds really bad live. His jokes were still funny, but, his accent, and the way he talked, I thought that was totally supposed to be a joke when he started (I dont remember him sounding like that earlier on the show) but he kept it up the whole time, so I guess not.

I only watched a few minutes because of the awful Roz opening the show.

WHY IS SHE YELLING WHEN THERE'S A FUCKING MICROPHONE IN FRONT OF HER FUCKING FACE?!

I voted for Ty. He was solid. I went in expecting to vote for Chris, but I didn't like his set all that much. Josh had some good material, but he took way too long between jokes. Michelle was OK, but nothing spectacular. And if I never see Roz on my TV screen again, it'll be too soon.

Ty gets my vote again this week. He was the only one who made me laugh out loud more than once. If I was voting someone off, it'd be Josh. He has consistently weak sets.

I'm worried that he's going to ride the charity case momentum to the finals. Ty and Chris in the finals would make me happy. Josh in the finals would make me root for whoever he's up against.

I think that we've said from the beginning that Josh is a one-note comic like Dat Phan and Jay London - the show forces you to come up with new material, so the routine becomes boring the second time around. Although with Jay, it was more the third or fourth time.

Look at guys like Alonzo or Heffron - they had more than enough material for their sets and when they came up with new stuff (as John did because he had gotten married in between "the house" and the live competition) it doesn't feel forced or unnatural.

As for Anthony Clark, I think he's been funnier here than he's been in Yes Dear and Boston Common combined. And no, that's not a compliment, just an observation.

If Josh Blue wins this competition, the American public has no hope. It would be worse than Dat Phan winning. Ty nailed his set last night, even if he should've wrapped up instead of tacking on the last two jokes he'd used in previous sets.

I disagree. At least Josh is, you know, funny. My wife was actually ashamed to be from Vietnam after witnessing Dat Phan's set...

After seeing last night's performance, I agree. I didn't think he'd actually get worse than he was on Season 1, but he managed it.

He didn't do that goddamn "Jackie Chan at the urinal" bit again, did he?

I don't have a problem with Josh winning. For one, he's decently funny and seems to have other material despite using his "I'm Disabled" jokes alot. The few times I caught the show when Rock Star came back, when he'd bring up Gabriel for no other reason then to cut a joke and remind people of him were always funny. Like having him pull out a cell phone and remark that Gabriel kept trying to get HIM kicked out of the show.

Plus, I thought the entire crop of this year's talent was really weak. Ty wasn't bad; he just felt very cookie-cutter. There was no one on the show besides Gabriel that could have probably taken on Josh and won, and he's primarily a "Holy shit I'm FAT" and "high picked voice~!" comedian with other material thrown in.

And it was a feel-good moment for most people to see Josh win. Dude gets up there, he's disabled, and he mocks the living shit out of himself for it. That takes some serious balls. It's not ethnicity, or anything skin deep, or gender based. The fucking man is disabled, goes up there knowing how he looks with his arms spazzing out and then proceeds to mock himself and his condition for laughter. Balls I tells ya, Balls.

Caught the finale on Bravo tonight- and I call bullshit. Josh never made me laugh. Once. Ty, on the other hand, was always making me laugh.

It;s the sympathy vote, pure and simple.

Not that there is anything wrong with that kind of comedy - it just has to be done well. Alonzo and Dat showed us two ends of the spectrum.
