Guest Overworked Posted June 9, 2006 Report Posted June 9, 2006 One thing that was a guilty pleasure for me was seeing Public enemy's entrance. Not only the music (which I don't know the name of the song) but seeing the entire ECW arena waving their arms back and forth when the music is cued in, now that looked like fun in 95. Sad that Rocco Rock died and we can't see that again
CanadianGuitarist Posted June 9, 2006 Report Posted June 9, 2006 To this day, my buddies and I still do the Swinger/Diamond poses during his theme (Drain STH- Simon Says) Lol, it'd be a terrible song if we wern't marks.
Dobbs 3K Posted June 9, 2006 Report Posted June 9, 2006 The music was part of what made ECW special, and I think was part of the underground appeal. That said, I don't think the music isn't going to make or break the new ECW. It's just not that important to the average wrestling fan, as long as Vince has his production crew come up with some cool new music for the ECW guys.
Enigma Posted June 9, 2006 Report Posted June 9, 2006 To this day, my buddies and I still do the Swinger/Diamond poses during his theme (Drain STH- Simon Says) Lol, it'd be a terrible song if we wern't marks. Whatever. Drain STH is a great band and their two albums are fantastic. If it weren't for ECW using it for Simon Diamond, I would have never discovered that band.

Sad that Rocco Rock died and we can't see that again Heck, both of them are dead now. On September 22, 2002, Ted Petty ("Flyboy" Rocco Rock) died after suffering a heart attack the night before, following a wrestling event. This would effectively end The Public Enemy as a unit, although Johnny Grunge had been semi-retired for a few years after the XWF failed to get a TV deal. It is said that Ted's death hurt Johnny hard, and for the rest of his life he was never the same. On February 16, 2006, four years after the death of Ted Petty, Mike Durham (Johnny Grunge) died in his residence after suffering from complications from sleep apnea. His friend tried to get Durham to the hospital in time, but by the time they arrived at the hospital, Durham was pronounced dead on arrival. Also, this is part of an interview with Paul Heyman that was just posted on PWInsider: ``It can't be a nostalgia show because if it's a nostalgia show, it's doomed right off the bat. It's going to be a progressively thinking promotion. It's going to have the most contemporary music. It's going to have the most riveting and compelling characters. It's going to be able to reach out and create new stars and not have to rely on the guys that were hot five, six or seven years ago. With that in mind I'm very excited about it.''

MarvinisaLunatic Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 I'm surpised no one has brought up "Walk" for Rob Van Dam so that everyone can chant RE...SPECT...WALK WHAT-DO-YA-SAY. ECW was using the Kilgore version for the last few years, so I imagine that wouldn't be hard to use. I remember seeing the Music Video and they were in the ring..and they showed a lot of RVD wrestling and the like. I thought it was pretty cool.
Ultra Violence Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 RVD's apparently going to be using his new Shadow's Fall music. Good. I don't care what it sounds like, anything is better than what he has now. Have you heard that song? Its basically his first WWE theme with lyrics over it, but the lyrics are pretty much screamed. Works for me. I liked his first WWE theme. I read it on one of the dirt sites so take it with a pinch of sodium chloride.
Art Sandusky Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 I don't read too much into the "contemporary music" in regards to already established themes. He probably means the kind of music Punk is getting or whatever. New guys.
Art Sandusky Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 EDIT: Double Post. I'll use it to thank you guys for saying what Simon and Swinger's theme music was.
RavishingRickRudo Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 Dammit! I was so going to make fun of Pauls overuse of "Bodies.." in just about everything he does. "The kids are all about the limp bizkit these days". I like Paul E for the most part, but the dude has to come back to reality and realize he is a 40 year old jew who rocks a skullet, which means maybe his eye for cultural trends needs a monocle (which I hear is huge among the vampire-mr peanut crowd that has been taking over NYC for the past few years (and yes, instead of blood, they do drink melted Skippy (which is far more disgusting))).
Guest Hadley Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 Speaking of which, which themes did the following ECW guys use: Chris Benoit Eddy Guerrero Dean Malenko Chris Jericho Sid Vicious The Steiner Brothers Rey Mysterio JR Juventued Guerrera Masato Tanaka

tigeraid Posted June 10, 2006 Author Report Posted June 10, 2006 Well, I made the Ultimate Wrestling Theme Song Collection on PWT, so I have all of these. Many of these guys used more than one, but I tended to go with what I felt were the best ones... Benoit also used Back in the Saddle (Aerosmith) for singles. Eddy Guerrero - Animal (Pearl Jam) Chris Jericho - Electrichead Part 2 - The Ecstasy (White Zombie) Sid Vicious - no idea, and apparently no one on the net knows The Steiner Brothers - Welcome to the Jungle (Guns n Roses) Rey Mysterio JR - Sad But True (Metallica) Juventued Guerrera - Wherever I May Roam (Metallica) Masato Tanaka - Dangan (his own theme from Japan)
razazteca Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 Speaking of which, which themes did the following ECW guys use: http://www.steveswrestling.com/info/ecwthemes.html Somebody's a big fan of AC/DC, Metallica, White Zombie, Guns N Roses. Also, this is part of an interview with Paul Heyman that was just posted on PWInsider: ``It can't be a nostalgia show because if it's a nostalgia show, it's doomed right off the bat. OMG everybody is going to be using American Idol themes, Lil Jon, and current punk music.
daileyxplanet Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 I could see Stevie Richards using Since U Been Gone.
Guest Coffey Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 I don't think Sid had music in ECW, just like the Dudleys. Judge Jeff Jones would come out an introduce him, then he'd walk out and talk about "taking souls."
Guest hasbeen Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Enter Sandman is at least 15 years old now. A rock classic, yes, but Metallica isn't nearly as popular as they once were at least from the way I see it. I know a lot of people were stunned when Hogan's theme was changed from Eye of the Tiger but the Real American theme is what he's known for now, just adapt to the times.
UseTheSledgehammerUh Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 HAHAHAHA. How old are you, btw?
Mole Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 Sandman without 'Enter the Sandman' just doesn't work. At all.
luke-o Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 RVD needs to have walk again, granted it wasnt Pantera but it was a fucking good cover!
Jericholic82 Posted June 13, 2006 Report Posted June 13, 2006 I could see Stevie Richards using Since U Been Gone. yea how about "Bad Day" for a jobber Surprised WWE cant get rights to the walk cover, that would be good at least. and they didnt use motorhead cover for sandman, why not? does Metallica own rights to the cover too? and does this mean the Yankees and Mets have to pay Metallica everytime they use the song for Rivera and Wagner too?

If memory serves me, they used the Motorhead cover a few times when the ECW album came out, but fans didn't take to it nearly as much. I would *ACCEPT* Motorheads' Enter Sandman--it isn't bad. But it's still not the same.
