At least they got out of the ninth.

And nope, next is Cleveland, then the Royals. Boy, I pretty much can't wait untill the Kansas City series at this point.

Oh. I saw when Womack had to be lifted off the field by Baker and the trainer.

I only heard about that, but the way you put it, I had this visual in my head:

Had it been Neifi, that may have actually been the case.

The other piece of the Josh Beckett deal, Anibal Sanchez will be making his MLB debut tomorrow night in Yankee stadium. Today's game got rained out and there is a day/night doubleheader tomorrow. They called him up to start the 8 pm game.

Welcome to the bigs, man.

He throws gas.

Just a note, the second game of the Yankees/Marlins DH will not be televised because of ESPN's exclusivity rights at the 8 PM time block. So John Sterling has the entire Yankee audience to himself!!!

The people on the Marlins board are saying that it will be on tomorrow night on FSN florida. There is no MLB game on ESPN due to the College World Series - so I think it will be available on MLB.tv.

Would you believe I almost let 4 free tickets ($80 Loge seats, too) to the game go to waste because we weren't sure about the weather? I would have kicked myself for MONTHS if I missed seeing that game live.

And I saw that Braves/Rays game when we went to dinner. What the hell were the Rays doing wearing the Cardinals' home jerseys?

DAMNIT and I thought I would get to see all the yanks games this year

f*ck you espn

lmao

anyhow sad to see oldtimers day get rained out, I was looking forward to actually seeing one played.

and of course boston won again, they never seem to lose unless its to the yankees. and Tom Gordon just moved up even higher on my hated list. Damn phillies cant even win despite holding the sox hitless for 5 innings.

who will pitch the first game for the yanks? will chacon come back despite pitching one inning today? (how dumb was that?)

bruiser: you're reaching anglesault levels of complaining. these threads are clogged with your repetitive & constant whining. you're not happy with the cubs. we get it. enough.

Yes: He's complaining too much

No: He's not even CLOSE to Anglesault levels. Not even in the ballpark.

When a team sucks as bad as the Cubs do, their fans have a right to complain.

complaining is fine. but every time i click on the thread he's regurgitating the same points over & over. listen, the tigers were horrible for 13 years. i didnt complain too much. maybe i just forced myself to deal with it.

Now that's some technical difficulties. As far as I can tell the game is still being played, but TBS is showing their TV Bloopers show.

Die-hard baseball fans will soon have a way to be close to their favorite teams in the afterlife.

Eternal Image Inc., which makes customized caskets and urns, said on Friday it has signed a multiyear licensing agreement with Major League Baseball that allows the company to reproduce the names and logos of all 30 league teams on a new line of caskets and urns.

"Fans incorporate baseball in nearly every aspect of life," Eternal Image Chief Executive Clint Mytych said, adding that the caskets could appeal to "a market that is just waiting for a way to make team loyalty a final statement of a great passion in their lives."

The urns and caskets will go on sale next year at prices from about $600 to $3,500, Mytych said.

"Our clubs receive these requests with some frequency. We have really passionate fans," Major League Baseball spokeswoman Susan Goodenow said, adding that the deal gives the sport's governing body control of the tastefulness of the product.

Sports licensing accounted for an estimated $14.5 billion in retail sales last year in the United States, up 1.9 percent from 2004, according to the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers' Association.

The idea of sports teams' logos and colors on caskets is not new as fans of Argentina's most popular soccer team, Boca Juniors, can buy their own coffins decorated in team colors and symbols for $650 to $800, a small fortune for many of its working-class followers.

One of Boca's soccer field chants says: "The day I die, I want my coffin painted blue and gold, like my heart."

Here lies Smues. He lived, he died, BRAVES WIN BRAVES WIN BRAVES WIN!

It's different, though. The Tigers weren't built to win during that stretch. Money wasn't being invested in the team and the expectations weren't there. Many didn't figure the Cubs to be a force this season, but with the resources available, there's no reason things should've been this bad. The lack of accountability is probably more frustrating than anything happening on the field. Instead of doing something about the lack of patience at the plate, poor hitting with RISP and overall lack of fundamentals, all of the Cubs' woes have been pinned on the loss of Derrek Lee by the Cub brass.

There's no reason for a team that cost almost $100 million to build be one of the worst records in baseball. There's no reason for Neifi Perez to be getting this many starts in a week. There's no reason that a change of some kind hasn't been made, whether it be Dusty getting the pink slip or the hitting coach being let go, since it's clear whatever he is doing, it's not working on the team's hitting.

It's not as if they can't get runners on base. They've had seven baserunners in three innings today and have no runs to show for it. It's the story of the year and it's frustrating to sit through. Especially when it could've been avoided.
