Of course because of the Fox blackout rule no one in the world can see this game unless you are in the Oakland Coliseum at the moment. Not that I'd want to watch this. Edit: Scratch that, since the A's haven't had a baserunner even with the error this would be a perfect game. This is one sorry ass first palce team.

Numerous pitches in the dirt, one even all the way to the backstop. Hes been all over the place.

His success never was because he was dominating, but rather, his ability to fall into a ground ball when he needed to turn two. Royals have added another one against Ponson, who's thrown 66 pitches in two innings.

The way the Cards, Reds, and Stros are playing...the Cubs have a legitimate chance to come back and take the division... ... ... ... ... ... ...just kidding. Edit: It seems I wasn't the only one wowed by the Gary Matthews, Jr. catch this afternoon. The BBTN guys have literally christened it "The Greatest Catch Ever."

I've never seen the St. Louis fans this hostile so regularly. I guess when you're not used to this kind of baseball, it jolts you, but they're booing when pitchers get close to walking a batter.

naiwf Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 I told you guys about a month or so ago that the Cards were overrated. The MicroManager is the main reason I don't trust them. You can't use up 4 pitchers in an inning at least once a week and still be a legit contender.

But they're still better than the other teams in the Central and when push comes to shove, I'd say they're probably better than any NL team, sans the Mets.

That's funny because I think they were the consensus pick of most TV analysts and a few prominent websites to represent the NL in the WS this year. Those people also thought the Phillies would win the East or the Wild Card, so perhaps that's not the best endorsement. The Cards were the only team that was basically a "lock" to win their division, and they might not even do that at this rate.

The Cardinals starters ERAs in June Jason Marquis 8.40 Jeff Suppan 5.40 Sidney Ponson 8.22 Mark Mulder 12.71 All have a BA against over 3.90+, Mark Mulder's is almost .500 for the month of June. That's insane.

The thing is, in a short series, I think the Cardinals could beat the Mets with Chris Carpenter and Anthony Reyes. I just don't think you can carry pitchers 3-5 that are so bad for an entire season, and expect to steamroll to a division title, no matter how bad the central is. The bullpen being an absolutely disaster isn't helping either.
