Guest Felonies! Report post Posted July 1, 2006 Blue Jays should've just worn the Canadian WBC uniforms or something.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted July 1, 2006 HOLY SHIT THE CALLERS ON THE POSTGAME ARE GONNA KILL ME EDIT: Ryan Dempster is on the verge of tears. I can't listen to this.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2006 I feel for him, since he's one of the few guys on the team who seems like he's always trying, but he's been absolutely atrocious the last month or two. I hear Dusty's still saying we'll get back to .500. HA!
Bored 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2006 A's are getting no hit by Miguel Batista thru six and it would be a perfect game if it weren't for a Johnny Estrada dropped foul ball. Of course because of the Fox blackout rule no one in the world can see this game unless you are in the Oakland Coliseum at the moment. Not that I'd want to watch this. Edit: Scratch that, since the A's haven't had a baserunner even with the error this would be a perfect game. This is one sorry ass first palce team.
Bored 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2006 Woo hoo Bobby Crosby walks with one out in the 7th. But they could still get no hit by a guy who had an ERA over 5 coming into today. And Zombie Frank Thomas homers to end the no hitter, thank god.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2006 Cards already down 4-0 in the first. Ponson's starting to look like the pitcher of 2004 and 2005. If there was one dominant team in this division, there wouldn't be much of a race at this point.
MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted July 1, 2006 Os got 4 runs in the 2nd..Tim Hudson doesnt remind me of the Tim Hudson that used to own the Os when he was with Oakland (9-1, 2.00 ERA) And Russ Ortiz..uh..he might luck into a win tonight but I can see why Arizona dumped him. Numerous pitches in the dirt, one even all the way to the backstop. Hes been all over the place.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2006 Ortiz is one of those pitchers that always walked the tightrope. His success never was because he was dominating, but rather, his ability to fall into a ground ball when he needed to turn two. Royals have added another one against Ponson, who's thrown 66 pitches in two innings.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2006 Ooo, I like Eric Wedge's killer instinct. He PH's for his weak-hitting right fielder with the bases loaded in the fifth and brings Hafner into the game. Hafner, naturally, hits a grandslam.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2006 My god, the Royals run the bases worse than the Cubs. I've never seen so many cases of "run 'till you score or someone throws you out."
Kismet 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2006 Tigers play pretty badly and are beaten 9-2. Errors galore, not too pretty. It was bound to happen, let's see how it goes tomorrow.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2006 They would've been out of the inning had Inge taken the double-play instead of trying to go home with it. Seeing the three errors in a row was surreal for this year's Tigers.
MikeJordan23 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2006 Larussa and is micromanaging again. Randy Flores has been terrible since he's been here, but since he's a lefty, let's let him walk the bases loaded and a run in cause we MUST stick to the lefty-lefty matchups. Fucking retarded.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2006 The Cards loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the 10th, but weren't able to score with Miles grounding into a FC, Eckstein screwing up a squeeze play and Edmonds lining out. The way the Cards, Reds, and Stros are playing...the Cubs have a legitimate chance to come back and take the division... ... ... ... ... ... ...just kidding. Edit: It seems I wasn't the only one wowed by the Gary Matthews, Jr. catch this afternoon. The BBTN guys have literally christened it "The Greatest Catch Ever." MikeJordan23 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2006 If that was Larussa should get fired for the bunt call with 2 strikes. This team couldn't be more of a joke then it already is. This is almost an exact replica of what happened last night. 8-7 Royals, home runs Teahan. I can't make this shit up.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2006 Jesus Christ...even the Royals are kicking ass on the NL Central teams, taking two outta three from the 'Stros and now, probably, the Cards. I can't wait until Monday.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2006 This is unreal. When the Cards had them at the corners and no outs, I was sure it was over. I've never seen the St. Louis fans this hostile so regularly. I guess when you're not used to this kind of baseball, it jolts you, but they're booing when pitchers get close to walking a batter. naiwf 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2006 I told you guys about a month or so ago that the Cards were overrated. The MicroManager is the main reason I don't trust them. You can't use up 4 pitchers in an inning at least once a week and still be a legit contender.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2006 The Cards aren't overrated. I haven't heard anyone say they're WS material this year. But they're still better than the other teams in the Central and when push comes to shove, I'd say they're probably better than any NL team, sans the Mets. But they're still better than the other teams in the Central and when push comes to shove, I'd say they're probably better than any NL team, sans the Mets. That's funny because I think they were the consensus pick of most TV analysts and a few prominent websites to represent the NL in the WS this year. Those people also thought the Phillies would win the East or the Wild Card, so perhaps that's not the best endorsement. The Cards were the only team that was basically a "lock" to win their division, and they might not even do that at this rate.

The Cardinals starters ERAs in June Jason Marquis 8.40 Jeff Suppan 5.40 Sidney Ponson 8.22 Mark Mulder 12.71 All have a BA against over 3.90+, Mark Mulder's is almost .500 for the month of June. That's insane.

But they're still better than the other teams in the Central and when push comes to shove, I'd say they're probably better than any NL team, sans the Mets. The thing is, in a short series, I think the Cardinals could beat the Mets with Chris Carpenter and Anthony Reyes. I just don't think you can carry pitchers 3-5 that are so bad for an entire season, and expect to steamroll to a division title, no matter how bad the central is. The bullpen being an absolutely disaster isn't helping either.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2006 It still seems likely the Cards are just in a bad stretch that may or may not be related to playing the AL. We'll see how things go when they're back to playing their own league.
