Portland must want a good shot at Greg Oden, because LaMarcus Aldridge won't make them better next year, but its not like one guy will make them win 10-15 more games. I don't see Redick falling that low.

What's everybody else's opinion of Tyrus Thomas? I'd still take Aldridge over him. I'm just not impressed. His domination over smaller competition in the NCAA Tourney does not equate the #2 overall pick to me.

Depends what you're looking for in a player...

If you're looking for a Ben Wallace type who's a potential defensive juggernaut, he may be a good choice. For example, I'd pick him up for the Hornets because PJ Brown is aging and he'd be a good compliment to Chris Paul and the others who are outside shooters. (He can rebound and block like nobody's business, although he isn't a strong scorer because he didn't have to be at LSU.)

If you're looking for an offensive scoring machine, you're out of luck for a few years if you get him. You'd be better off with Aldridge or Bargnini because they're more polished.

The local media has reported that Michael Jordan really likes Brandon Roy and he could be the Bobcats' pick. It fills the biggest need on the roster, so I think it would be a good pick.

Hopefully, Roy turns out a little better than the last prospect that Michael Jordan fell in love with. ;)

Even though it's supposed to be a weak draft, I'm really excited for it. I think it's b/c three Memphis players could get drafted, the Nets have two first round picks and Toronto has the first pick.

46. Utah (from Houston via Chicago)

Good Wilco song, "Via Chicago."

Anyway, I'm hoping the Bulls draft a good center. Or Adam Morrison. I like that fellow.

Remember though, the Bulls may have a shot at Joel Pryzbilla, who takes care of your need at center.

If Mouhamed Saer Sene is there at the #16 pick, I say roll the dice and take him.

Latest rumor to come up is Sebastian Telfair to Boston for the #7 and Dan Dickau. I think I take that if I'm Portland.

I think you go straight to the airport, and put Bassy on the plane with a nice thank you note to Danny Ainge if you're Portland. A high pick and a player for someone who hasn't developed yet is practically a no brainer, especially when you know Dickau likely won't get arrested on his way there.

Plus Dickau has proven to be a pretty good player in the league when he was given the starter time in New Orleans after the Darryl Armstrong trade. Telfair...he hasn't proven anything.

I do say that Portland needs to decide who their starting point guard is going to be. I say Steve Blake with Jack backing him up. You can't build team chemistry with erratic minutes at the point guard position.

Nothing is going to really help portland RIGHT NOW. They are incredibly young, and they lack vets. They need to get rid of Miles and Randolf, and I think that Aldridge is a pretty good replacement. Randolf would be a better rebounder if he tried, but we all know he isn't going to do that.

I am intersted in what the Hawks are going to do with their pick. Just go a point. Throw more money at Joel Pryzbilla than anyone else and you have a solid lineup.

Remember people...I am calling it...Hawks....Playoffs....this year.

Chad Ford made a "what if" mock draft...basically if there was no age limit and if certain players had come out (Joakim Noah, Josh McRoberts, etc.), this is how the draft may look.

Portland better take that Dickau/#7 for Telfair deal if it's on the table, now if they can just con someone into taking Randolf and Miles off their hands as well they'll finally be idiot free.

YOU DRAFT A WINNA! SEE THESE DOOK GUYS, THEY ARE WINNAS!

That's what's going to happen if Williams or Redick fall at all, watch.

Another note of mine, if Maurice Ager is there when the Lakers pick, they won't pass him up. Or they will, because it makes too much sense to draft him. I don't want Farmar.

Oh man, someone I forgot all about was Gerry McNamara. InsideHoops has him projected as a late 2nd round pick.

Hopefully Marco Killingsworth can sneak in. That would be back-to-back years that IU players were drafted after being shut out in '03 and '04. Let's get another streak going, guys!

Guest Princess Leena

I'd take Brandon Roy as early as possible. But, I'm almost always wrong with NBA prospects, so he'll probably be horrible. This draft class seems really weak though.

I also wish to see Redick fall for entertainment value. Or the Knicks take him.

Brandon Roy would be my pick too, as I'm strongly in the "he played well in college, pick him" camp. It's worked the last couple of years with guys who should have never fallen to where they did.

The Iverson to the Celtics rumors are really heating up, and seem to be dominating the headlines, which means there is probably no chance that it happens. I love trade rumors, but it would be nice if just one of them would happen once in a while.

9. GOLDEN STATE

The Warriors don't have a specific need but could use an upgrade at every position except two-guard. There's nothing worse than rooting for a team like that. By the way, didn't you love to hear that they're shopping Junior Dunleavy, whose contract extension hasn't even kicked in yet! That Chris Mullin is savvy. Please tell me why I'm not running an NBA team.

WHAT THEY SHOULD DO: Go big and draft Patrick O'Bryant, the 20-year-old center from Bradley who may have set the record for most times described as "mildly intriguing" over the past six weeks.

WHAT THEY WILL DO: Probably something much dumber ... you know, like pick another guy who looks good on paper and disappears in big games. On the bright side, maybe it was destiny for the Bay Area to have an NBA star named Gay.

:D , that's a little harsh.

As for Brandon Roy, I would really like to see the Bobcats select him with the third-overall pick. He is exactly what they need. Rumors say the Bobcats like Rudy Gay, I would HATE that pick.

A truncated Chad Ford blog from this morning...

I'm feeling very confident that the Toronto Raptors will make Andrea Bargnani the No. 1 pick in the draft.

After that, things get fuzzy.

Will the Chicago Bulls trade the No. 2 pick?

The hot rumor floating among GMs this morning was that the Bulls and Timberwolves might pull off a blockbuster Kevin Garnett deal, sending picks No. 2 (Tyrus Thomas) and No. 16 (probably Marcus Williams) along with either Luol Deng or Ben Gordon to Minnesota for Garnett.

Blockbuster deals are very difficult to pull off at this time of year. Given the Bulls' cap situation, they'd have to wait until after July 1 to clear the cap space to make it happen.

I'm skeptical the Wolves are ready to trade Garnett, but otherwise the trade makes a lot of sense.

If the Bulls keep the pick...

I talked to GM John Paxson on Tuesday night, and he appeared close to making up his mind between LaMarcus Aldridge and Tyrus Thomas. There were reports today that Shelden Williams might be in the mix there, but I'm not buying that. Paxson didn't mention his name.

Paxson told me that Bargnani was also seriously in the mix for Chicago at No. 2. I think this helped end trade talks for the Raptors. They were looking at trading down a few spots in the draft, but once they were convinced Bargnani would be gone at No. 2, they knew they had to keep the No. 1 pick.

Charlotte is the real wild card this afternoon. When I talked to GM Bernie Bickerstaff on Tuesday night, he said the team was still undecided and might wait until right before the draft to make its decision. He said four guys were in the mix: Rudy Gay, Adam Morrison, Brandon Roy and Andrea Bargnani.

Several sources I talked to Tuesday night and this morning think it's Gay. Why? In part because Bobcats co-owner Michael Jordan was impressed that Gay was willing to work out for him and upset that Roy blew off the workout.

As for Morrison, I think he was the early favorite, but I continue to hear that MJ isn't a fan. For what it's worth, Morrison's agent, Mark Bartelstein, told me this afternoon that he believes the Bobcats will take Morrison, but he says that's just his gut feeling.

He was more adamant that I was wrong when I put LaMarcus Aldridge ahead of Morrison for the Portland Trail Blazers in this morning's mock draft.

I'm getting lots of e-mails about that, many filled with profanity -- the general theme is that Blazers fans would be ready to storm the Rose Garden if their team passes on Morrison.

Bartelstein thinks there's "no way" the Blazers pass on him. But after what I heard Tuesday night, I think Aldridge is their guy.

The Celtics and Allen Iverson rumors continue to churn. GM Danny Ainge told Insider on Tuesday that an Iverson-to-the-Celtics trade was "not going to happen." I don't think Danny would lie to me. But this is the time of year when you can't trust anyone.

I much perfer drafts like tonight where there isn't a completely predictable nature to it, especially when it's not the strong field, it becomes a total roll of the dice type situation.
