Hulk vs. Orton SSlam

Recommended Posts

Not necessarily true. Last week I took notice when RVD beat Angle clean on ECW. And like HHH or not, stuff like Benoit making him tap at WM or Batista beating him in the HIAC does mean something.

I'm not nearly as negative about it as Brooke's publicists are. If they can get some wrestling fans to buy the album (and the sheep will), it'll chart fairly well.

I doubt it'll have a long-term impact on her "career".

As far as Nick goes, when they showed him training on "Hogan Knows Best", he looked like he had a ton of potential when they showed him doing wrestling training, and everyone put him over as being a total natural. Granted that all could have been a work like the rest of the show (and his "first day" could have been after 2 weeks of training).

I dont see how using Hogan vs Orton on any premise involving Brooke at SS is going to help her sell albums. I dont even think its going to help sell SummerSlam, cause I dont think even the Hogan fans are stupid enough to not be able to see right through this. And plus, its not really a dream match like vs The Rock or HBK..

You know what Id get a kick out of..replace Randy Orton with the Spirit Squad. LOL..and yes..my mind is square in the gutter. And Hogan vs 5 Male Cheerleaders would be awesome.

Aside from Cena, Foley and Austin...WWE has nothing left for Hogan. Foley is probably the back-up plan for WM23 since Hogan/Austin is about 10% likely at this point.

They could easily do Cena/Hogan, and it could start tonight by having Cena pick Hogan for his partner. Cena accidently nails Hogan with a chair..blah..blah..blah..Cena finally heel turns..blah blah blah..Cena/Hogan at SS. I think that would solidfy a Cena heel turn (if the fans wont boo him after nailing Hogan..its hopeless, although I could see it happening from the "I hate Hogan" people) and it would probably sell more PPVs than Hogan/Orton.

You don't get it do you? Cena isn't turning heel any time soon. His current persona and postition with the company is the most over he has been. You want to take away a very complex character and story for a cliche heel turn on Hulk Hogan? It'd be the very makeup of every other Hogan storyline.

People think Hogan/Foley is possible because it was discussed eariler this year for Hogan's program after Austin backed out. It's thought to be possible because aside from Cena...there is no one left who is a credible enough star for Hogan on a stage like WM. Foley is the only other person under WWE's umbrella near Hogan's universe as far as fame is concerned.

There's natural beef between the two (Hogan blasted Foley on CNN a few years ago and Foley has said a thing or two about Hogan).

Why do people think they will do Hogan/Foley? It doesn't really make sense.

The fact that Hogans energy drink is powered by SOCKO got me thinking about it, and Hogan pretty much said the same things about Foley that Flair did. Not to say that I want to see Foley/Hogan (PLEASE NO) but honestly, given a choice between Foley/Hogan and Orton/Hogan, Id take Foley anytime.

I would personally find it hilarious if Nick Hogan turns out to be a really solid worker.

I could see the fans turning on Hogan...

...because the fans will more than likely cheer Orton.

No, and no.

I don't think that part is from The Observer.

For Orton's sake I hope they find a suitable outcome for him. His gimmick as a "Legend Killer" is about to be shot dead with the marks if he loses cleanly here. Hopefully they can find away to placate Hogans ego yet still have Orton comng out of this okay. I am not really a fan of Ortons but it doesn't help him losing to a old man.

Pretty much. With the exception of Goldberg, Lesnar, Guerrero, and Cena, Randy Orton has defeated just about everybody in the business: Flair, Undertaker, HBK, HHH, Benoit, Angle, Edge, Jericho, Booker, RVD, Batista, Foley, Steiner, Christian, Kane, Mysterio, etc.

Hulk Hogan is the ultimate and final legend.

I love how everyone always bitches about older guys not elavating talent (taker,Hogan, HHH) except when it comes to to someone they dislike (Orton).

I think older talent should always try and put over younger talent regardless of whether or not you like the younger worker.

Success in the music industry is really about how much touring you do. You can sell a billion records and it doesn't mean squart for the artist, just big money for the record company. Almost any musical artist signed to the RIAA will tell you that if the artist/singer/band wants to make money, it has to be done through selling out arenas or clubs when touring.

I don't think Brooke Hogan by herself could sell out arenas. Maybe small clubs. It all depends who she was paired with I guess, like if she opened for a big pop name.

Yeah well the problem right now is guys like Hogan and Flair are novelty acts, they are seen as comedic acts moreso then serious wrestlers, so beating them in a match hardly elevates you at all.

Right now the three guys with the most ability to elevate the younger guys, not merely by doing the job, but making their opponent look good, are Triple H, HBK, UT. In the WWE Marks' eyes, beating one of those three in convining fashion will elevate you.

Personally, I think they missed the bus on Orton back during the Taker fued...unless they do something drastic...SOON...he won't be any higher than Christian was on the card.

I like the guy, backstage issues aside...I can see some potential there...but sticking him in a fued with Hogan which he'll lose is not the answer. Hell, he's supposedly fueding with HHH and you just KNOW HHH isn't losing that one.

Regardless, people who are saying Brooke has no chance in the music industry haven't been paying attention to the music industry in the past 15 years.

People like Brooke, even without the name get flash fame and a hit song or two all because of their looks. "About Us" is getting good airplay and video rotation, if Brooke and Hulk want her career to extend beyond just a couple of hits and forgotten videos, using her for a WWE storyline is a grave mistake.

People are already having a difficult time taking Brooke seriously because of her last name, if she gets involved in a 'rasslin storyline it'll only confirm people's original thoughts on her.

She may have one top 50, or top 100 song and thats it. Two years from now her music carreer will be non existant and her name will be a question in obscure gameshows. One hit wonder if she is lucky, and would have her fathers influence and money to thank fotr that.

Just let him be himself as his new gimmick. Sociopath Randy Orton would actually make him entertaining on a consistent basis.

On the surface I agree...

But for some reason, certain people may be intrigued...

For instance my fave as a kid was the Hulkster and my fave of the attitude era was Foley, so I would be interested in it....

Not that it would be a large portion of the audience or anything, but to me it would be cool..

Greg gagne drew money. Mr. Fargo is wrong to say otherwise at the beginning of the thread.

Here's a thought, and if it was mentioned before, I'm on dial up and didn't let everything load, sue me. Why would you expect her albums to do better with exposure on a show that targets men 16-35. Men like to look at pretty girls, not buy their albums.

I mentioned that the market that WWE actually draw isn't the market they need Brooke to attract.

Prior to this new Orton plan, hogan had told Vince the only 3 people he wanted to work with were Angle, Big Show and Austin IIRC.

Hogan's smart enough not to want to feud with HHH or Cena to prevent having issues with coming out ahead IMO.

So HHH, Shawn, Beniot, Foley, Flair and Batista's pushes are dead. Edge better enjoy the next year or 2 before he gets old.

Yeah he drew money from his bank account ;)

The idea that Greg Gagne did not draw money from 1975 through 1984 bothers me. He headlined in both tag teams and singles. Sure he was the boss's kid, but in that region being a Gagne and being a solid, if not unspectactular worker was enough.

Just because he was on top of a dying territory at the end of his career doesn't mean he didn't draw money beforehand.

Other examples include the Shiek in Detriot, Dick the Bruiser in Indy, and The Von Erichs in Texas.
