Guest NYankees Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Giambi missed a 3 run homerun in the first inning so he hit a GrandSlam in the third instead.
Bruiser Chong Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 - Glendon Rusch started in place of Mark Prior today. Hoo-ray! - Miguel Cabrera's young, but he's such a baby. He and Scott Olson had an incident in the dugout, highlighted by Cabrera poking Olson in the face like a five-year-old and Giradi scolding a pouting Cabrera like said five-year-old. - Adam Dunn's a monster.
Guest Felonies! Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 1. Why did Tits get the start over Prior? 2. Prior isn't hurt too, is he? 3. Seriously, Glendon Rusch? 4. Serious?
Bruiser Chong Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Prior's a bitch. He strained his oblique taking BATTING PRACTICE. Not only is he not in there today, but he's questionable for his next start after the break. In Cub language, that means he'll definitely miss his next start.

I thought in Cub language that meant he's done for the season? Andrew Jones just hit a BOMB to make it 8-3 Braves over the Reds. They are beating the Reds all around the diamond right now. Back to the Cubs I go.
Guest Felonies! Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Yikes, The Max wasn't kidding about one swing ending your season!
Bruiser Chong Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 I'm more concerned a series win today could mean this evaluation by Hendry on the coaching staff is over.
Guest Felonies! Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 I don't think taking three from the Brewers is enough to save Gene Clines, but one never can tell.
vivalaultra Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 In non-Glendon Rusch news, Chris Capuano is taking Tom Glavine's spot in the All-Star Game. In Glendon Rusch news....BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Edit: Oh, wait...the Cubs are winning and Glendon Rusch is pitching a halfway decent game. I rescind 2/3 of that "BWAHAHAHAHA"...
AlwaysPissedOff Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Damn, Thomson leaves in the second, yet the bullpen manages not to fuck things up for once and the Braves basically beat the crap out of Arroyo with that Andruw shot being the nail if the coffin if they keep it up. Damn, that was a sweet double play, too. Being a Braves' fan this is almost the the most frustrating thing alive...
strummer Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 I don't know what the timeline is but I would think a series win over Mets this week would be enough to save Dusty's job
Mik Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Actually Bruiser, that was Olsen's fault. He's the one w/ the problem. 1) Fistfight w/ Randy Messenger earlier this year 2) Had to be chewed out by Joe Girardi in the dugout earlier this year while he was pitching 3) He said something to Cabrera because he thought he was dogging it. Either way - it wasn't a good incident, but I'm guessing that Scott Olsen is not the most popular Marlin in the clubhouse. And the abortion that is Reggie Abercrombie has practically handed this game to the Mets on a silver platter.

Damn, that was a sweet double play, too. Being a Braves' fan this is almost the the most frustrating thing alive... I'd say being a Cubsor Knicks fan is 100x worse. At least you have the fact that Atlanta will likely fix it sometime in the next half decade.
2GOLD Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 I don't know what the timeline is but I would think a series win over Mets this week would be enough to save Dusty's job I don't think they would fire Dusty til the season is over anyway. I'd imagine if the Cubs turn things around in the second half and somehow seek back into third place then Dusty will be back. Took Jacque Jones half the damn season to start hitting the ball but he is finally doing it.
Dobbs 3K Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Glad to hear about Chris Capuano getting on the NL team for the All-Star Game. He does deserve it, and it makes sense, since IIRC the NL only has one other lefty pitcher. This is the first time since 1983 that the Brewer have had more than 2 players in the All-Star Game.
Bruiser Chong Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Cubs have eight walks today and to no surprise, have 10 runs. Who knew walking could parlay into more runs?
Bruiser Chong Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Len just said the Cubs are 4-0 when Italy wins the World Cup. Gold.
Bored Posted July 9, 2006 Author Report Posted July 9, 2006 A's drop three in a row to the Angels and now they are only two games back. Just fucking great.
Hektik Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Glad to hear about Chris Capuano getting on the NL team for the All-Star Game. He does deserve it, and it makes sense, since IIRC the NL only has one other lefty pitcher. This is the first time since 1983 that the Brewer have had more than 2 players in the All-Star Game. Chris Young deserves it more. The Padres only get one All-Star again, despite being a first place team.
Mole Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Fuckin Sox/Sox game is in the 17th. I want to kill these White Sox annoucers because they are ROOTING for their team instead of calling the game.
CanadianChris Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 It's over, White Sox win it 6-5 in 19.
strummer Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 White Sox win it in the bottom of the 19th.
KingPK Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 You know your standing in the bullpen isn't good when you're the last guy in the bullpen but the guy before you goes FOUR innings before the manager says "Well, I guess we have to get THIS guy in now." Farewell Rudy Seanez. I'll bet Hawk had an orgasm.
CanadianChris Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 I was surprised Tito didn't put in whoever would've been scheduled to start tomorrow if it weren't for the All-Star break. He'd have to be better than Rudy Seanez.
Bruiser Chong Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 Wow, Varitek went hitless in eight at-bats.
CanadianChris Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 It's pretty bad when your 5 and 6 hitters (Nixon and Varitek) combine to go 0-for-17.
KingPK Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 He's been just awful at the plate this year. If he wasn't "The Captain" and revered by the fans for calling a great game for the pitchers, he'd be getting a TON of flak for a guy making $10M/yr.
Guest StylesMark Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 Damned Devil Rays. I was hoping Villone could hold it down a little better. Proctor didn't surprise me.
