CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2006 13 batters, 3 HRs, 8 runs and two pitchers later, the Blue Jays are finally finished in the third inning.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2006 Sean Marshall's officially a Cub: he went on the DL today. Rich Hill's been brought up to fill in. Hill's one of those guys who's been bad in the bigs, but incredible in AAA.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2006 Yeah, Heilman's only making millions to play a game. Why in the world would he show any hustle to make an easy play? What a dumbass.
strummer 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2006 I think it's official that Heilman's 2005 season was a fluke. The hitters have figured him out as he's not fooling anyone anymore and they are sitting on his changeup. I wouldn't be suprised if he's traded by the 31st. vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2006 I didn't feel comfortable saying it with a 3 run lead, but now...Kiss my grits, naiwf. Hopefully this can be a turnaround game for the Astros, with good contributions from everybody in the lineup. It seems like the offense might be waking up a little bit. With a series against WC leading Cincinnati coming up, this would be a great time to start turning things around.
strummer 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2006 this is like the 15th time the Mets have had an opportunity to sweep a home series and have yet to do so.

EVIL~! alkeiper 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2006 Something I haven't complained about yet. The Phillies are now carrying 13 pitchers. This is overkill to the worst degree. Is Rick White really so important to the franchise that we can't keep Sal Fasano around, or otherwise carry five bench players? Especially given Fabio Castro has been acquired and since made two appearances in a month. Who did he piss off exactly? The only thing I can thing I think you can hope for is that they plan on trading at least one reliever (please move Cormier given the ridiculous price middle relief is fetching) and will then bring up a position player. Castro is a Rule V player, and just 21 years old. He's only on the roster because otherwise the Phils would have to offer him back to his original team. He's not going to pitch in any kind of pressure situation.
the max 0 Report post Posted July 23, 2006 Sexson with a walk-off homer. Sexson hit the homer off of: a- Jonathan Papelbon b- Mike Timlin c- Lenny DiNardo d- Craig Hansen e- John Wasdin Who could have caught the homer?: a- Jonathan Papelbon b- Mike Timlin c- An asian gentleman in the crowd with a Street Fighter shirt d- Manny Ramirez e- Coco Crisp Answers: b, a. Why Papelbon was in the fucking bullpen in a tie game in the bottom of the ninth is fucking baffling. Timlin pitched the 8th. He has proven in the past that asking a second inning out of him is asking for trouble. To get around this, Papelbon is warming in the bullpen. Francona decides that Timlin is obviously the better choice because Sexson is 1-16 career off Timlin. Great. Now he's 2-17. If he uses "not a save situation" in his postgame, I will not be a happy boy.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2006 Maybe he wanted to save Papelbon for the tenth in case Boston scored in their half. Still weak, but not totally ridiculous.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2006 Papelbon hadn't pitched in a while and has gone two innings many times this year. I really can't fault him too much, however. Giving up an inside the park homer to Adrian Beltre...now THAT'S inexcusable. What Coco and Manny were trying to do out there baffled me.

Mik 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2006 The Marlins held a closed door meeting today where they said that they are almost definitely not making any trades...certainly not for Willis. Hopefully that can end those rumors until the offseason or later. Dontrelle is 4th on the Marlins in wins this year.

vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2006 Marshall AND Marmol are hurt now! Fantastic! So, is it official that the Cubs are out of the race now? In other news, the Cubs are supposedly very interested in Willy Taveras. He'd fit in well with their "fast guys who can't get on base" thing they got going on. vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2006 I think the board was flooded because Booker T won the title or something. Ah, I remember Booker T. I saw him at an Astros game a couple years back and then the next day I saw him at Discount Tire wearing a bucket hat and a Bob Marley shirt.
