Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2006 This thread reminds me of the WWE folder when someone like Tomko gets released. Even though the guys sucks, soon as he is gone everyone gets a soft spot because they'd rather rag on the incompetent company or all the other choices that could have gone before him. No one will miss Harold Reynolds.

Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2006 Checkout the "tribute" at the Fire Joe Morgan Blogspot. Awesome Yeah I saw that this morning, and almost posted the link. Glad they triggered my memory as to why I hated the guy so much. I'll never forget an episode of ESPN's Hotlist a year or two back when Brian Kenny had Reynolds and John Kruk on. Reynolds made a comment about someone being a great leadoff hitter because "they knew how to get on base." Kenny quickly pointed out the guy's OBP that year (which was abysmal, like below .300). Reynolds then makes some sarcastic comments about Kenny being "one of those guys" and saying a computer can't tell him anything about baseball. Then Kruk decides to make loud computer noises every time Kenny said something the rest of the interview. I though BK was going to kill somebody.

I listened to an interview Mayne gave on XM Radio about a month ago. VERY knowledgeable about baseball and sabermetrics, and it shows when he hosts the Hotlist and has guests such as Rob Neyer and Joe Sheehan on his program. Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2006 Maybe this will allow Hershiser to get more screen time on baseball tonight. I don't like them getting rid of Renyolds but if it was sexual harrassment then they did the right thing. I remember reading a few years ago that the company that had the most sexual harrassment charges brought up against them was ESPN, so this fits right in with the company line. Mik 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 From deadspin... UPDATE: Another reader, with "contacts on the inside," refutes the sexual harassment whispers: "Anyone who is saying sexual harassment either has been given bad third-hand info or is lying. Harold has had a couple of rather heated arguments with the producers at "Baseball Tonight," and some of the suits at ESPN over the program's coverage of Alex Rodriguez. At the last production meeting, when it was made clear they were going to really play up the A-Rod angle during coverage of the Yankees-Texas series, Harold had a colossal meltdown, which led to his dismissal. The sexual harassment allegations are even more laughable when you consider that he is being replaced by Steve Phillips -- a man who has never met a skirt he wouldn't chase and who was caught in one of the more embarrassing front office sexual harassment scandals in MLB history." True? Not true? This, like the rest of it, just reinforces our point: We don't know. And the longer ESPN pretends like nothing happened, like they're a corner shop with three employees, believing this stuff can possibly remain private, the more talk there will be. Still, this is the lone "it's not sexual harassment email" we've received.)

jwest27 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 Wasn't Reynolds one of the guys who was suggesting that A-Rod be traded? Why would he be complaining about it when he was essentially fueling the fire? Unless they made him say that, that is, which is something I wouldn't put past ESPN.

Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted July 26, 2006 Poor Brian Kenny. He needs to do whatever to get off ESPN. I don't know where he could go, but it would instantly be better.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 Another reason why there is too much "E" in ESPN. Fox's new show Final Score is infinitely better than SC now, even if there is a little too much going on on the screen.
KingPK 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 It looks like the sports equivalent of the Bloomberg Channel what with all the tickers. Peter Gammons was released from that rehab center he was transferred to, so perhaps we may see him back by the end of the season to improve the utter tripe that is BBTN (I'm sure we won't be seeing him on Sunday Night Baseball anymore). goldengreek 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 On saturday they had H.R. on from a remote, and a female anchor was interviewing him. I think it was Julie but i'm not sure. He made two funny flirtatious comments. The first is when she intro'ed him , he said something along the lines of 'you are looking fine/ good". The second was when he was done with his report and she was saying thank you, he said something like "go one with your bad self julie" I chuckled, since i was on the computer and was only listening. I found it a little weird but not vulger. I thought to myself H.R. must be drunk. Did anyone else catch this???

smh810 0 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 Well, definitive word came down this morning: As had been initially suspected, Harold Reynolds was fired by ESPN because of sexual harassment, specifically toward an ESPN co-worker. (The Big Lead says it was an "inappropriate hug" toward a PA at an Outback Steakhouse.) Reynolds spoke to the New York Post and doesn't believe he did anything wrong. "This was a total misunderstanding," Reynolds told The Post. "My goal is to sit down and get back. To be honest with you, I gave a woman a hug and I felt like it was misinterpreted." The Big Lead, who needs to put a gold star next to its source on this, says it was a minor incident that blew into a larger one because of Reynolds' history of behavior. Reynolds, for his part, still wants his job back. We think it wise that he not hold his breath. He shouldnt have grabbed ass.
