Guest Felonies! Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 I hope Doug Mirabelli does very well in Jason's stead. Not just because it's crucial that Boston wins the majority of August and September's games, but rather because I know if he doesn't do well, somewhere, there WILL be a headline that read "'BELLI FLOPS."
vivalaultra Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Or they can talk about how Boston's gone "BELLI UP". If he does well, they can call it a "MIRA-CLE".
Precious Roy Posted August 1, 2006 Report Posted August 1, 2006 Yankees optioned Aaron Guiel to AAA, and TJ Bream is likely to follow Abreu grounded out in his first AB
Bruiser Chong Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 My god, Beltran's just been sick the last month. He's closing in on 100 RBI and is among the ML leaders in homers. He's finally starting to look like he was worth the contract.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 And I don't mean to dwell on this Cedeno thing, but another reason Ronny isn't playing second tonight: he doesn't have a second baseman's glove...and it's going to take several days to get him one. No, I am not making this up. I guess we're supposed to forget all of Hendry's talk about Cedeno being ready to play second as recently as last night. I hate this team.
Guest Felonies! Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 I like how Izturis made his debut with bad baserunning. It must have to do with the hats or something.
Guest NYankees Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Abreu had his first big walk as a Yankee.
Guest Felonies! Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Rich Hill is finally in line for a win!
Bruiser Chong Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Amazing what results are yielded when you don't walk half the batters you face. Man, Keith Partridge is 56!
Guest NYankees Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Man, Keith Partridge is 56! Yeah and he has a hot daughter with a great body.
Mik Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 "The Hammer" Josh Willingham hits a two run pinch hit HR off Billy Wagner to take down the Mets. That makes 5 HR in 6 games for him.
strummer Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 I knew something was up when Bradford and Heilman were mowing the Marlins down in the 7th and 8th. The Marlins never go down that easy. And of course Wagner blows it in the 9th on a walk off by Josh Willingham.
Guest Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 I like how Izturis made his debut with bad baserunning. It must have to do with the hats or something. That's fucking hilarious, because he's a good baserunner.

That's fucking hilarious, because he's a good baserunner. After Saturday: "Looks like we need Chris Speier to teach Baserunning 101!" After Sunday: "So Dusty, did you guys do Baserunning 101 this morning like you said?" "nah dude"
Bruiser Chong Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 It wasn't so much bad baserunning as it was lazy. He could've probably legged out a triple had he not walked along with his bat waiting to see if the ball was foul or not. Nice to see Rich Hill finally look like the pitcher Hendry made unavailable in trades all those years.
Guest Felonies! Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 LAZY BASERUNNING IS BAD BASERUNNING SIR YES SIR
Vern Gagne Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Liriano will miss his next start with elbow inflammation.
Bruiser Chong Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Props to Francisco Cordero. Guy gave up a leadoff triple in the ninth of a 1-0 and although he loaded the bases, he wound up striking out the side to preserve the shutout...in Coors. Looks like we've got two more 1-0 games in progress.
Mik Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Another reason I hope the Marlins never trade Willis: check out this picture...
vivalaultra Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 The Astros got their 10th shutout of the season, winning 1-0 in San Diego. Hell of a game by both Pettitte and Jake Peavy. Lidge made things tense in the 9th, but struck out the side. The Astros have to go 37-18 to get 88 wins, which should win the wildcard, so they're in closer distance than in 2004 when they had to go 36-10 down the stretch. It can be done. I still wonder why they don't pitch Dave Borkowski more. All he's done over the past month or so is play "bullpen guard" at Wrigley and Petco.
Guest Princess Leena Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 A-Rod was the star of tonight's Yankee win. It wasn't mentioned.
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Hello, Bernie had 3 RBI.
Guest Princess Leena Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 A-Rod 2-4. Double. SB. Started the Yanks offense. But, by all means, do hate.
Vern Gagne Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 The home plate umpire squeezing Burnett got the rally started.
Annabelle Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 my main man CARLOS hit for the cycle tonight. awesome. if he was a better fielder, he'd be one of the most underated shortstops in the game. offensively, he's the total package for the tigers. he's doing it all.
2GOLD Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 The Cubs are 7-3 in their last 10 games? How the hell is this happening? My guess is they watched Mr. 3000 and suddenly think they can make a run for third place in the division!
Guest NYankees Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 The home plate umpire squeezing Burnett got the rally started. QUIT YOUR FUCKING BITCHING!!! Burnett made a ton of fucking mistakes in that inning.

I'd imagine playing the Cardinals and Aramis going on a tear are the prime factors for the run.
