Guest Connzilla Report post Posted September 6, 2006 I thought MMA wanted to be a serious sport not the theater of the moronic that is pro wrestling. It seems like you haven't followed DSE a whole lot...Basicly, PRIDE has hijacked every element of Pro-Wrestling that can be applied to MMA. Storylines, production, characters, they've taken all the good ideas and left the bad. Before PRIDE went "boom" with the media in terms of importance, MMA never really hurt Pro-Wrestling, atleast K-1 did not but it could be argued that it was a different beast. Simply put, PRIDE took everything that worked about Pro-Wrestling, amped up the glitz and glamour even higher and threw it on an unbooked event. Take away the real fights, and DSE *IS* pro-wrestling. And I love that about Pride. Thats what I love about Pride too. Can't wait to see them in the states hopefully it is a succes so we can have some more state side shows in the near fucture
Guest DRH 502 Report post Posted September 6, 2006 Blah. If PRIDE was based out of the US or Australia it wouldn't get the same love. Go jerk off to some Misawa/Kawada tapes clowns. J/k
Guest Connzilla Report post Posted September 13, 2006 If Pride is owned by Dream Stage which also owns Hustle then why haven't the Pride Guys how have had stints in pro wrestling Sapp Barnett and Fyre wrestled in Hustle? Also I think the proposed Coleman/Baroni vs Shogun/Wandy Tag match could draw big money for Hustle Hustle Hoese Shows If all for man are taught how to bump and there is a predetermind finish I think it would work just fine

Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2006 Coleman's actually a half decent wrestler. Not sure where he learned it, but I've seen worse shooters turned wrestlers. He should really think about doing some tours before he quits "fighting" all together.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2006 Please, please, PLEASE... in this folder, save the term "wrestling" to describe the sports of folkstyle, freestyle, & Greco-Roman wrestling, not simply because they're more applicable to MMA, but because reading things like... "Coleman's actually a half decent wrestler." ...makes me seize momentarily.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2006 Coleman's actually a half decent wrestler. Not sure where he learned it, but I've seen worse shooters turned wrestlers. He should really think about doing some tours before he quits "fighting" all together. Considering he was on the US Olympian, and defeated Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle. I would think he is more then a "half decent" wrestler.

Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2006 I need to talk about Coleman being an awesome wrestler more often if it indeed gives Lei a grand mal.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2006 Actually, it was the seeming downplaying of Coleman's wrestling ability that nearly killed me. Self-pwnt.
Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted September 13, 2006 I didn't realize adding "pro" in front of "wrestler" made such a major difference when this is primarily a "pro"wrestling forum with a MMA subfolder. My appologies.

Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2006 Mark Hunt vs Butterbean Pawel Nastula vs Josh Barnett Added to the card. Assuming Butterbean is allowed to fight and Barnett passes the drug tests.
I like Forums 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2006 Why wouldn't Butterbean be allowed to fight?
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 This isn't confirmed by any means by a lot of other boards have been reporting that Butterbean is currently under investigation by the NSAC for working fights.
Guest Report post Posted September 20, 2006 Butterbean isn't going to be allowed to work that fight. I wouldn't be surprised if over half of his fights were works. When he stepped in with someone that could actually box, he got cleaned out. I remember seeing him on a few PPV undercards back in the day.

AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2006 So Nakamura vs. Marvin Eastman and Joey Villasenor vs. Robbie Lawler are now official. Nakamura by decision and Lawler by KO, if only because he's fought tougher competition. Although I'm tempted to pick Joey by decision, but with his only fight against a game opponent being a loss and him winning victories over scrubs in KOTC swings me back to Lawler. I picture another decision victory for Nak, in the same vein as Randleman and Igor; win a mostly boring decision with about thirty seconds of excitement thrown in. Who did Conzilla used to be? Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 I'm an Eastman fan so I'll be rooting for him. Lawler better win or else he's FINISHED as a top fighter, and will reach journyman status IMO.
Lord of The Curry 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 He lost to Jason Miller. I'd say his "top fighter" status died off a while ago.
Lei Tong 0 Report post Posted October 3, 2006 I'd say "hot prospect" was the highest echelon Lawler reached.
AboveAverage484 0 Report post Posted October 5, 2006 I see Lawler reaching a Carlos Newton level, i.e. being able to beat the occasional good fighter, but not being consistently good enough to hang onto a top 10 position for any length of time.
